Only just discovered this man this album is perfection such a shame such shit acts get to lime in the light when there’s been real talent that gets ignored if I could play slide like this and sing I’d feel like a god
Had the opportunity to see him live in the late 90's in northern California. Loved it. Had no idea who he was before that. My friend talked me going and been a fan every since.
This man, his music, is a national treasure...when I first heard this song back in 1994 when it was first released, I believe, I knew I'd discovered a true master of the guitar and Americana music. All his albums are treasures.
I saw kjp on England about 5 years ago not only is he a great musician but he is very humble he came out after the show and I spoke to him for about ten minutes a very kind man and he signed my CD we can all learn from him
This amazing musician lived and worked in my area for decades and I never knew he existed until I had already moved away and he had retired. That's a failure of local media for you. How was I to know when the media played junk on the radio and advertised a sea of big acts and mediocre acts etc in the papers, pages and pages and pages of listings of events etc. It's a crying shame, I can't believe I missed seeing him live, I could have dozens of times. Ugh
Man, thank you for uploading this. I heard it for the first time many years ago, and I read the words you wrote: "if I find trouble in finding my soul, listening to Kelly Joe always leads me back to it". Well, it may be the same for me, a young man from south of the world.
Thanks for posting again. This entire recording, Lead Me On, his first recording on Burnside Records, is still my favorite, especially this opening song, the recordings namesake. The entire recording was on youtube before, and I left many comments, but all disappeared now...........
Catfish Keith comes in at a close second. Saw him a couple of weeks ago at Greystones in Sheffield (UK). A great evening. Even my 18 year old son said it was "on another level" when his mother asked him about it the morning after. He hasn't got anything good to say about today's music. That's my boy ;o)
Yeah I been lookin for a home and I can't find one no where. Lead me home, lead me home. I been driften here and there... I need .... to show me the way. Lead me home. lead me home. ..... weep and moan, sang this song. one these nights sing this song. yala haiya .... ..... ...
RIP KJP... Such a magnificent songsmith, transcendental slide virtuoso, and the perfect magus to lead us to the other side. Enough said...💙
will never forget you and your music

The whole album is ingrained in my soul..
Me too..
Kelly Joe makes me homesick for a place I've been.
Orgasmic blues and slide guitar.....awesome...best I've ever heard - we need you to tour England please...
the most beautiful song i have ever heard!
Arguably the best slide guitar player alive today.

Even when he's not playing he's still in front. And he sings like Paul Rogers. Find me another.
Country..country blues..
