I have a Mako and agree wholeheartedly! I really wish they'd unbreak the guns not working when in flight mode. This was my daily runner for a long time until then.
One of my favorite ships in the verse. I only wish it was as reliantly bug free as its name suggests. With that being said, I would love a Reliant series the size of the Freelancer.
I'm hoping that they're competitive starters when all is said and done. The ability to conduct inflight repairs from inside the ship with a co-pilot and whatever abilities the co-pilot may have could make it a good ship in the future.
I hope when CIG (re)introduces atmospheric flight, the Reliant will become aerodynamically stable from flying in its "flat"/"horizontal" position and if so, there should also be a benefit for flying in its "upright"/"vertical" position in space
I love these ships, the bed-logging not working because it orients itself vertical is the only reason I don't fly one right now. I can't wait for the gold standard
02:37 "Ship's unique design would allow it to maximize cargo storage" and yet the Kore ended up being one of the most disappointing cargo haulers in terms of capacity for its size, to the point where they had to extend the cargo bay to make it have an even remotely reasonable cargo capacity of 6SCU (2 less than the cheaper, better armed and quicker Avenger Titan). It breaks my heart, because I always loved the Reliant, and I love cargo running, but it's just such a bad choice for that.
I’ve melted more reliants than I can count. It’s one of my favorite ships in the game, my current Tana has been in my hanger for almost 2 months and I don’t think it’s going anywhere any time soon
The Tana will always be my most memorable ship of how much love I have for it. But the fact it is a hit or miss on if it’s working depending on the patch is why I don’t use it anymore. If it was consistent in being usable, it would be a pledge ship for sure
If they redesigned the Reliant to have the engines stay connected to the wings so they don't stick out and get shot off so easy, it would solve the survivability problem of this ship. 9 times out of 10 you lose your engines first.
I love the Reliant, and I only have some minor issues with the transformation paterns/sequences: I think it would be benefitial for atmospheric flight if the small winglets would already fold out when transitioning from VTOL to 'wing mode'... also the fact that VTOL is curently locked to the landinggear...
VTOL isn't tied to landing gear as of 3.22, you can move the main thrusters and the wing configuration independently, the only thing that is tied to one another is landing gear and "horizontal" wing stance (deploying landing gear forces the wing to its flat position)
@@Freidenker01although it makes perfect sense, I think it could be fun if you could deploy and retract the landing gear independently from the wing orientation. Maybe only have the aforementioned little wings deploy and retract simultaneously with the landing gear
I loved the Reliant series. At some point my friends identified me by ship type. But I don't even own one anymore. The weaknesses in its design just get more and more amplified the longer development goes on, and feels very half baked to me.
I've had an irrational love of this ship series since concept. In fact the Kore was the first concept ship I ever bought. I've always thought that the Reliant series could be fixed up in ways to make them more attractive in the field. As is right now they're very underwhelming and very overlooked in the daily driver / advanced starter categories. Three things that would make them stand out: - Clip the wing length in half. There is zero need for them to be that long. - For the non-Tana variants they have a ton of empty space in the wings. Make them hold more fuel to better compete with the Cutter ranges. Alternately, just say that the Xian engines are "super efficient" with fuel and let it consume less of it. - The rear area: If you raise the height by a meter you have more than enough space to double up on SCU space because you can fit in two layers for the Kore. That would equal the 315p and give it a competitive advantage against other starters.
I don't think clipping the wings is something that needs to be done, not only will it alter the look of the ship detrimentally, it will also lose its possible atmospheric potential. I do agree that stuffing the wings with more utility would make sense. And lastly; I'd love to see extended storage space! But I think the Kore is already a competitive starter, it's not expensive, it has a mid size cargo hold for a starter and it has a lot of firepower (it has the best fully gimbaled setup, which is very starter friendly). Aside from this: it's imho the prettiest ship in its size
Heeeeey - YT finally stopped hiding your vids from me! My one hope for this ship is that it becomes super maneuverable in atmo in horizontal mode, and then gets the "Mirai engine treatment" to allow it to be supermaneuverable in space while in vertical mode. Well, whenever it gets its gold standard. Still have NO idea what they'll do with the Mako. Love your stuff, Paul!
The Reliant Sen was one of my favorite ships. I bought one in 3.22 and then they took it away from me in 3.23 but it's all good. I sort of would rather have the Mako anyway. I mean I primarily do research but I got a 400i for that now.
I hope after they migrate alll the SQ42 stuff over, they go back and do some serious reworks on ships. The Reliant ships have loaner ships because of some design issues that haven’t been addressed for years.
this ships weapon attachments under the "wings" feels really weird and off center when in "combat mode", they could allow some extra hardpoints on both sides instead
The Reliant is one of those ships that I love but don't own and even when I purchase them in-game, rarely use because there are much better options in the 'verse.
I still have a huge soft spot in my heart for the reliant that thing needs to get some love
Indeed. It's such a fun, unique and useful ship series.
I have a Mako and agree wholeheartedly! I really wish they'd unbreak the guns not working when in flight mode. This was my daily runner for a long time until then.
The view from the bubble cockpit is amazing
Ship B and its a flying wing.. The B Wing. Nicely done CIG. Lol
I dont think they could be anymore on the nose with that... LOL😂😅👍
Yeah was a nice nod

I love the way you manage to bring lore like this to life.

IIRC this was in references to the freelancer sized ship, not the reliant.
@@TheAstroHistorian that does make more sense, depending on how much that ship differed from the Reliant design

Wich makes total sense. Because in vertical mode landing would be impossible anyways. Landinggears in or out :-D

Its a cute little ship crippled by tech debt and old metrics
Excellent as always. Love me some MISC goodness!
I have been interested on Reliant Kore ship. Looks really interesting & and transition is so unique
I like the reliant ship I just wish these ships would get some lovin.
5:57 Sounds like an analog of Jack Northrop upon seeing the files for the B-2.
It 100% was what they were going for
I'm so glad vertical mode is no longer tied to landing gear state. This is a fun little ship that was hamstrung by being completely stranded by a 30k.
My favorite gameplay at the moment is running bunker box missions. The Reliant is my daily driver. I love this ship.

Reliants are neat, shame i dont see them often in the wild.
iirc this was the last ship to be "hangar ready" before they stopped doing that

No, please don't clip the wings. Their length is esthetically important.

such a neat ship
“Ship B”? Like the B-Wing in Star Wars?
More reliant lore its an underappreciated ship :)

This makes me want to take a Tana out and settle Pyro!
its so large for what you get that it needs some cargo in the wings or something, we're talking misc here add some scu to the wings

👍 given
Paul, thanks for sharing. 🪐

Still one of the coolest ship design even to this day imo. Sad that it isn’t very practical tho.
I wonder if that "Ship B" was ever nicknamed the "B-wing" but the team working on it...
Nope, not at all. And it is totally not a fanboi homage to another universe's wing type space ship... Nope, no connection at all... 😉
Smaller landing pads? The Reliant? LOL! The biggest small ship in the game.
The original Ship B was a medium ship in lore, it was going to be about the same size as the Freelancer for comparispn.
The Reliant is one of those ships that I love but don't own and even when I purchase them in-game, rarely use because there are much better options in the 'verse.
I thought this was an fully an alien ship this whole time
Ah, a mildly less depressing episode.
SO COOL! ❤
Great fun to fly one of these.. too bad they’re so easy to burn
