I like him as a person, but not "his" songs. I suppose i may need to give it a try again some day. I hated "eat it". He got my respect for honoring Prince after his death to not betray him to record the song Prince refused.... Meanwhile Princes family betrayed him big time with commercials etc. That says a lot about a person.
I once worked with the quietest, most introvert person at a restaurant. She never said a word. One day the kitchen played Weird Al, she skated into the kitchen and went ballistic. She loved it! Weird Al brings people together 😁
Rumor has it that when he watched himself perform in the "Fat" video, he was so repulsed by it that he said he promised himself he'd never, ever get fat. He's also a vegetarian.
Sad fact- he gains the weight back during every concert, but he runs around so much, it’s all gone by the end! Reality tho, I have never seen so many costume changes as he does during a show- flat out amazing!
I absolutely LOVE the questions Kevin asks, they are often silly but asked seriously and its such a unique interview style and cuz its questions they have never been asked likely or often even thought of you get a really organic response. No one has refused to answer or go down the "path" he is on. Its so fricken' cool! Kevin would be amazing as a late night talk show, he brings the out the most interesting parts of ppls personality and experiences. This is the best show on UA-cam so lets share it !!
And it beats the cliche crap questions hosts usually ask them. Who is your inspiration? How did you feel when you won an oscar? What was it like working with the director? Zzzzzzzz Kevin's questions are more human and numerous. As if they are old friends with no cameras on, joking with each other.
Same here! Really imaginative and fun questions/interviews. Many of the questions are intentional setups for punchlines, but Nealon is of course crazy quick on-the-fly, too. In this way he gets to play both the "set up" or "straight" man and the "comic" at the same time, while also allowing his quest the chance to play both roles too due to the interview format. It really shows when he has a guest that's as quick-minded and witty as he is, such as Weird Al. Their riffing was fantastic! I would love to see a collaborative production!
I love the questions, but almost equally, I hate the non-answers we get. I'm positive they actually answer the question, it just gets cut. I'd love to know most of those answers, and we only got a couple actually answered. Was the same for the Conan show.
Weird Al has had the same band and manager for over 40 years. _THAT_ in itself tells you so much. He is also Mensa-level intelligent (unlike me!) And he has been able to remain at least somewhat relevant in all that time, I guess mainly because he parodies music as *IT* changes through the years and also because he tours SO MUCH. And also because he is a genuinely nice guy to his bandmates and to his fans.
I haven't been this excited for a guest. Weird Al is a goddamn national treasure. Seen them in concert last year and it was amazing. They waited around and sat on their tour bus steps to meet every person that wanted to get their autograph and say hello. I mean, I've never come across that before.
I've seen lots of concerts, since the 1960's, and for years when people asked, I would say the best concert I ever saw was Crosby, Stills and Nash. I saw them again, and then those were the first and second best. Now, I've seen Weird Al twice, and those two concerts unseat the CSN(&Y, second time) concerts, although those were nearly flawless. Weird Al, I say. And I saw him in Albuquerque when they did an extra eight-song encore, and did "Albuquerque" at the end of several songs (some very short, some just humorous false starts, to add to the tension and build-up).
First concert my kids got to see and they loved him. Ex-wife even begrudgingly liked him a lot. I got to see him again once again on my own, and to this day the greatest high-energy performer and only person that had more costume changes than Diana Ross.
@@SandraDodd In the 80's Crosby Stills and Nash did a show at Mud Island in Memphis, worst concert I've ever seen. They were arguing and mad at each other and at one point they were playing different songs out of stubbornness. The whole audience was going, is this real life? Part of the problem may have been that they followed Chicago, and I have never seen a place rocked like Chicago did that night. So best and worst shows, back to back in the same night.
Weird Al's been the first music I actually enjoyed in my life, got his first Album for my 8th birthday (vinyl record!) and always laugh when I hear his music to this day. Thanks for taking us along Kevin!
5:10 too me "Weird Al" always looks Amish kind of like his hit song Amish Paradise... What a frickin' career really who woulda though it would work when he started almost 40 years ago he made his own path into uncharted territory
Weird Al's funny and a genius, but I really like the two serious lessons coming out of his career: 1. If you at all can, do what you love for your work - it'll make for a happy life (he learned that from his dad, he says) 2. Make a point of being nice to everyone, and treat others well consistently. People like your bandmates and manager will still be with you after 40 years.
Thank you for making these interviews Kevin Nealon You might just be one of Hollywoods sweetest human beings. I know the rest of us in the rest of the world are great full to know you as our UA-cam friend and hiker.
I saw weird al yankovich at the fair 15 years ago and it was an amazing show. He changed costumes for almost every song almost instantly between tracks. Amazing talent and the show drew such an awesome crowd
The untold profundity of asking someone how they would steal a rake. This is why we love Kevin and why this series is brilliant. Love Weird Al, one of the true genuine genius nerds that conquered the normies but stayed true to his roots. Thanks for another one! 🔥💗✨
OMG !!! I have been a Weird Al fan ever since i heard him on DR. Demento !!! As a matter of fact IN 3D had just came out. I was in 3rd grade and he is still in my top 3 !!!
I still have the Weird Al Live Concert from 1999 on VHS still and you get two bonus music videos at the end of the tape; “All About the Pentium” and “The Saga Begins”. Still holds up too.
Wow, Kevin Nealon lives! You are one of my all time favorite comedians!! I first saw you at Cobbs Comedy Club in San Francisco in the early 90's and you did the charcoal bit on my friend! He was drunk and being obnoxious and you invited him onstage. The audience never laughed so hard! We took him home and he still had no idea until he looked in the mirror the next morning! I hope you read this, because I just want to say thank you for being one of the funniest comedians ever and for making such a fond memory!
What a treat. 2 of the funniest people I know just took me hiking and made me laugh so hard that milk came out of my nose. And I wasn't even drinking milk. But I'm back now, and as soon as I catch my breath, I'm going to watch this video. I hope it's not stupid. Cheers mates.
I just came across this channel for the first time and I'm less than a minute in and it's already put a genuine smile on my face. I'm about to binge your channel. Thanks Kevin!
I was so thrilled to meet Weird Al and Dr Demento after a show in July 1984. He signed autographs for each of the 3 kids I watched-I played a couple of his tapes for them. He was such a nice, boy-next-door kinda guy.
Really good hike, I've watched all of them & this has an awesome energy. You guys feed off each other for jokes like old friends, fun to watch! Thanks for thinking to do interviews like this Kevin, so much better than any latenight talkshow.
When Al limboed under the branch, I laughed, because that's me, too! Seriously, though, he's a gem, a national treasure. Did you see his #coronaisolation video, playing the Classical Gas on the accordion on his deck? So fun.
That was fun. I'm a fan of both these guys. I'm glad it's just a fun interview, no insulting of people, beliefs, etc. Just clean and funny. Good job Kevin.
Best interview format ever! Been listening to Weird Al since the Dr. Demento days and it was so cool to see Kevin hiking with him. My favorite Weird Al tune is "Another One Rides the Bus" (parody of Queen's Another One Bites the Dust). "hey, he's gonna sit by you/another one rides the bus/ look out!"
One day I got in my truck and am 830 WCCO was on. The absolute first thing I heard was call now to win tickets to Weird Al Yankovic at the Minnesota State Fair. I called and won two tickets. I think it was 2009. It is the only concert I’ve ever been to and it was a fantastic performance.
"Do you get recognized a lot?"
"Ummm...Only when I leave the house."
"Oh, your wife doesn't recognize you?"
This is gold on a number of levels.
“When should you stop eating a cow?”
Al: “When you’re full.”

Weird Al Yankovich for rock n roll hall of fame!

Weird Al for Super Bowl halftime show!! Now more than ever...
nope :(
100% what the world needs in lieu of what is considered relevant currently!
Totally agree. Unfortunately the Super Bowl halftime is geared towards 12 year olds
Hahah, you watched him on Hot Ones too. Yes! W.A.Y. for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2020!
That really would save the show , hell I might even catch some of the game just so I wouldn't miss the halftime show 👌👍👏
There are only a handful of celebrities that are beloved. Weird Al is one.
I feel like Kevin and Weird Al are kindred spirits, both have lightning quick minds that go to weird, hilarious places
Weird Al still looks great!!! Can't believe he's kept the weight off since "Eat It"....

I have been obsessed with this man since I was 12 years old and every single time I see or hear him I cannot help my smile!!!
Weird Al seems like he’d be pretty cool to hang with and a lot of fun talking to.
These two guys are so funny together. Kevin doesn't miss a beat 😊
The silliest, least informative, but maybe the funnest interview yet. Amiable dorks are a special breed. Thanx, Kevin.

Weird Al's funny and a genius, but I really like the two serious lessons coming out of his career:

My favorite interview. Weird Al is genuine, would love to be seated next to him in coach.
I actually was this summer on a plane ride back from Iceland. He was with his family. Same hat.
This is one of Kevin's best interviews. Kevin and Weird Al have great banter and should be doing a podcast together.
