What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! To be fair to Izanami, she'd been having a _really_ shitty day, and Izanagi almost seemed like he was putting a concerted effort into making the day even worse for her... I mean, first she had to give birth, which is already an excruciating enough ordeal on its own, but she literally had to give birth _to fire itself,_ and the strain of _that_ ordeal realistically killed her, so that was a pretty shitty start to her day. Unmentioned in Smite's lore is that Izanami's last act before she passed away was to give birth to Mizuhame, the goddess of water, and tell her to calm Kagutsuchi if he ever grew violent again... Well, that act of compassion was immediately thrown out the window 'cuz Izanagi blamed the newborn Kagutsuchi for Izanami's death and straight up butchered the baby she died giving birth to... Izanami was understandably upset at this and, to spite Izanagi, ate the food of Yomi and became one of the netherworld's denizens by doing so, basically denying Izanagi the one he loved in return for killing the son she loved... However, when Izanagi came to return her to the realm of the living, she still agreed to counsel with the Yomotsukami, the gods of the dead, and ask them if she could be allowed to return after all. In exchange, Izanagi had to promise not to look upon her during his visit. Which he did promise. And then he couldn't contain himself any longer; he just _had_ too look upon his beloved Izanami again and promptly created a light source... That's when he realized that his hawt waifu was now a rotting, maggot-eaten and badly burnt corpse, ran in horror from her, out of Yomi, and blocked the entrance with a huge boulder. Izanami, by now _quite_ fed up with Izanagi, demanded that he either removed the boulder or she'd kill a thousand people every day... and Izanagi, remaining as reasonable, mature and accomidating as he'd been so far, went for the reasonable and mature option of sneering back that he'd just give life to one-thousand five-hundred every day instead of just, you know, _removing the frickin' boulder._
To be honest, here she looks kinda cute for a corpse) Yes, skin is pale, eyes are furious but that's the only wrong things. Whatever Izanami looked like before death, she doesn't seem to be so terrifying.
That's awesome. One of the funniest stories I've ever read.
The trope of "food you eat in the underworld binds you there" reminds me of Persephone and the pomegranate seeds Hades fed her to bind her there.
I wonder if it's a coincidence or whether both stories have a common source.

Well its not bad... but i've expected more from one of the founding japanese gods. It all seems generic underworld themed, without a single pinch of subtlety or clever lore crumble hidden. Again, i may just be missing some things. Hope he makes a video nonetheless.

First of all she isn't even op... Second of all her stealth is decent, Awilix can easily counter her three since it is seen as a leap. Honestly, it is nowhere near as ridiculous as Loki's one.

Her AA's deal 50% damage. OP? Hardly. She's currently the hardest hunter I've played.
ImJykai Her autos are hard to hit when you use the 1 at times, but like Ethan said, 50% AA is nothing. Trust me, she isn't as scary as you think she is.

And according to earlier variations of the myth, Izanagi and Izanami actually had some privacy when in Yomi, and oddly enough, he was horrified only when saw her, not when... y'know. So there is multiple interpretations, but usually divine Three oftenly consider Izanami their mom. Especially Susano.

I had that same issue with Khepri; I wanted to play as him a lot, but he got nerfed so many times it was ridiculous, now I hardly play him anymore. I hope Izanami doesn't go down that road because she looks really fun to play as.

+Karl Maier my friend's gamertag is I main khepri. they nerfed him like 11 times and he has the lowest base health of all guardians and even lower then a lot of other non guardians. his ult is so damn big that it's hard to put it on who you want. and it has a stupid start up time and animation to it. it's super dumb and should be smaller, and instant.
Leon Rodriguez I agree with the instant part, and I still think that it is BS that Aphrodite ult, Kumbha passive and Kali ult can save you from executes, while Khepri can't. If you think about it, you know they only did that, because some Junglers bitched about, how "op" the bug is, even though it is his main function IS TO SAVE a teammate from death.

The only reason Jesus won't be added is because way more people believe in it still, and will give hi rez bad press and a lot of legal cases to deal with. You know smite is a game about deities, right? Izanami is from Japanese mythology, and Yato from Noragami is a fictional character made up for the plot of the show. Yato isn't an actual Japanese God.

That passive makes me worried. It's basically the same as Olaf's original passive from LoL, which was so unbalancing that they had to redo him to makes him fair.
