This game right upto the end felt like watching a movie and you get attached to the characters and the icing on the cake is your quick thinking and your way of handling your squad, barely any mistakes and just down to the wire each time putting the nightmare true to the name. Holy smokes excellent job there!
Hey i just bought this game because its on halloween sale right now and i heard its brutally hard. Do you recommend normal difficulty for a first timer?
I do. Nightmare requires a lot of knowledge of the game. Normal with permissable saving (auto saves enabled) is the way to go. Once you understand the mechanics of the game, you can ramp up the difficulty. Few tips: Sneaking and avoiding contact as long as you can is a must. Getting a recon with a battle rifle and silencer is a must. One sentry gun is useless alone, try 2 or 3 in a narrow corridor. The game tells you this, but if you are getting your ass kicked, just call it even and leave the map, no shame in that. And a bit cheesy, but it is part of the game so why not: Place a lot of motion detectors ( C ) next to the ARC, and if you feel that there are too many aliens you cannot stealth, just use the decoy function on one of them. Every alien on the map goes running right in front of the guns of an unkillable armored car, giving you some breathing room. Hope you will enjoy it, I did, and still play it to this day.
What use is a very hard playthrough if you cut out and savescum everytime you lose a few squaddies? Couldve played on easy and we wouldve noticed no difference. The game isnt that hard anyway just spam turrets. And as you can see in the last level perfectly, the human enemy AI is literally braindead
Thank you for this great walkthrough. Now I not only have something to watch during the night shift, but also a guide for my own try on nightmare. Thanks again 👍
Saw a full gameplay a while back not long after the game came out, but hands down your handling here and esp tactics are bloody well done and a sight for sore eyes! Nice work but most all thanks Badin for putting in the work and letting us enjoy it.
1:26:00 I remember my whole squad being absolutely decimated when I first encountered this “boss” and I was underestimating that warning thing 😂 but that was also the main reason to why I was so hooked up with this game, because one of my squad member getting knocked down while the rest are basically injured, I legit had to fight tooth and nail just to carry him all the way back to the vehicle while my whole team waddle with him, with panic bar and out of ammo and what not, it also doesn’t help that I play this game on Nightmare difficulty on my first playthrough because I wanted to feel challenged. When I extracted that adrenaline rush felt awesome.
Thank god, someone who actually knows how to play the game, was watching a different guy who also played nightmare but he hadn't played through the game before so it was such a pain to watch.
Thanks man! You showed me a completely new way of playing this game. Here's what I learned: 1. Know your terrain 2. Only use firepower when it's necessary. 3. Don't get detected. Use the terrain to hide. 4. Quickly get in and get out. 5. Use troops redeployment tactically. 6. Motion detector is overrated, use it tactically to lure out the enemies to enable escape with no detection. 7.
This game is kicking my ass on the lowest difficulty. It's so much fun though. I've made it to mission 6 but my high level marines are bogged down with traumas and bad character traits. They get eaten alive in mission 6
Thanks for the play through, i watched it done pretty badly by someone else, needed this for the mental cleanse, though it was play played pretty perfect till the last defense, left turrets with low ammo making it so you had to reload during a wave 😅
9:20:47 I can't believe everyone's ignoring this cutscene. I mean, that's the only time the dropship's been useful other than deployment. On another note, was Pryce real, or a synthetic?
In Aliens vs Predator 2 (from 2001 ?) the last Boss was the Queen and when u defeated her the dropship comes and shoot the aliens that comes for u, in Alien Extraction the Dropship will fire on the aliens on a mission when u have to defend a Bridge (I think)
Such a good game this is.. only on the first level myself and just met the first queen.. think I have played it to careful though and extracted to many time as the alien threat thing has already gone up to the next level! Not sure if I should restart it
first of all: great work so far, you make it look kinda easy. but what is it with the saferooms? 5:51:29 for example: your guys have 0 stress, didnt fire a single shot (apart from sniper) and you create shelter... why? just to save the game? i dont get it. also you missed out on some ammocrates, samples and resources: are you so confident that you wont need them or whats the reason?
Thanks! Saferooms are just like you said - to save the game. I cleaned 1/3 of a map, didn't get any damage or agro so good time to bank it, especially before more dangerous parts of the mission. Regarding resources that I miss you are also on point, I think I have enough so I'm not trying to clear everything, especially towards the end of campaign where I already have all the weapons and big stockpile that there will be no possibility to use. Also ammo is lost on mission end so no point to hoard.
@nachtmahr666 because if you pick up all thr ammo on one extraction, there will be none left for the next expedition as thr clips don't carry over and save like the sentry guns, med bags, and wrenches. They get wasted, gone forever. No matter how many you collect at redeployment you only get 4
Even though I plan to go loud and stealth on my Nightmare run (cuz extra experience and Xeno samples!) I'll watch to take notes! I may learn a new strategy or idea to tackle the bugs and keep my sqaud alive!
Ugh. I miss the AvP 2 and 2010 Days, where Humanity build a base on a planet that isn't a shit world. But man. What I wouldn't give for the same level of Map quality in a first person AvP game. Dark Descent really got the size of the Map right.

Just finished normal for the first time, deathless, and that was a slog. god knows how you survive higher difficulties. Absolutely love the game, ending was weak though. Building a squad, getting to know them, letting them be the main focus is something id wished theyd copied more from xcom. Like the prosthetic limb mechanic is a great thing, but it could have used just a bit more. Id have preferred the final mission if the squad atleast went down with them and it was an actual run and gun boss fight. Literally the same chase but you can kill the titan if your smart enough and get a better ending maybe. I hope they make a dlc campaign or something
Wow the last mission is so silly. This is very hard? I mean the idea of mutant scifi people working for the aliens by the hundreds is ridicilous enough. But then the last mission just them and their braindead AI who take 10 seconds to see you standing in front of them, their buddies not caring about you shooting their buddies and nobody on map caring about a group of marines and a APC blasting through the refinery. What a mess. Cleaned the entire level without them firing a shot. Last level lmao i hope they patched the hell out of it
I've been playing the game for quite some time. I got stuck on some things and watched this video. Here I realize that a lot of things are absolutely illogical. In this video, the player doesn't need any new ammunition and his stress actions are also missing. I have stress in almost every mission and also need new ammunition that I can collect. Nothing like that is consumed here. Strange! The video really helps, but there are certain things I don't understand about this player!
Finished today nightmare mode and all enemies modifiers to max with one day left. First playthrough. To be honest is not so hard....cheese enemy AI is simpler than it looks... Is a good game but not XCOM 2 level of complexity😔
Kinda stupid that u couldn’t kill the first survivor at the atmo plant when, directly after sparing him, your squad finds evidence he’s a cultist that you couldn’t interact with before you made the choice. Like, the fuck?

Ok, i like it, almost as good as Alien VS Predator: Extintion, of course better cinematics but gameplay seems slow those aliens are too dumbs, and the final aliens, well dont convince me there are some holes on the plot in the final like those giant aliens, yes, they need to be giant as they come from that race but could be better, also satelites were not just 1 so the ship could not survive the forced exit, and why there is not clon from the doctor on the utago at the end, hahaha, some scenes or maps are too dark too, feel much like type of story from alien 2 movie, i like it but yes could be better.

Few tips:
Sneaking and avoiding contact as long as you can is a must.
Getting a recon with a battle rifle and silencer is a must.
One sentry gun is useless alone, try 2 or 3 in a narrow corridor.
The game tells you this, but if you are getting your ass kicked, just call it even and leave the map, no shame in that.
