- We have already have Project Rene gameplay and screenshots leaked- now sims project stories, the mobile game has leaked. Let's just say the graphics, gameplay and monetization look like you'd expect. I'll cover core gameplay like quests, building, character customization and the town. This all adds to the sims franchise keeping sims 4 going while adding all these other games.

I said project stories- full name is project town stories. Project Stories was the name used during investor day, makes me think there will be multiple (possibly) versions- like a city stories in the future or something,

Thank you, Erin for telling us about this future bomb that EA is planning to launch on us. It really is disheartening. It's low quality concept really designed for teens and preteen audience. That's not the demographics that you should be focused on if you want to woo an active fan base that gave EA it's billion dollar income.
Maybe their shareholders can play it because I'm not touching this. They don't want to court us as an audience anymore.

@@SimmerErin The crazy thing is I'm a positive person that tries to see the best in things and people but I just don't get why they why want to drive us off, many of us have been loyal since sims 1.

@@VHSMikeyI think it’s BECAUSE we are longtime players that they want to drive us off. We have higher expectations because we know these games used to be well made and we can see how they cut corners and try to milk every penny from us now. Younger players are all ok with pay to play and loot boxes. They don’t mind shallow gameplay. There are great games out there, but they are not targeted at tweens who can get their parents to shell out money for virtual furniture.

Sucks that these are the games pushed at kids so that they can be addicted to basic games, iPads and micro transactions. My 9 & 6 year old are in there playing No Man’s Sky and I grew up playing games like the Sim 1.

Yeah I play sims freeplay which is the best sims mobile game and this mobile game looks alot like sims mobile which isn't as good as sims freeplay.
However this looks like it targeted towards gen alpha which mind you are currently kids the oldest of them is like 14

The sad thing is if they scrapped all of these games and actually just made sims 5 they would make waaaayyy more money since no one is going to play these dumb online/mobile games

@@SimmerErin I'm no expert, but I anticipate with this new direction they're taking, they'll just be replacing their audience, not necessarily expanding it.

I played Sims mobile before (don't ask me why lol) and this is eerily similar to whatever this Town Stories. Only with familiar characters and lore to follow. I forgot who were the characters in Sims mobile.

I don’t understand why they make three different sims games now. Why not just make one big new installment that has every feature of these? A brand new sims simulation where you can build your world, town, block and unique sims. Nobody wants to play a cheap mobile game, but everyone would love to play these features in a regular sims title for years now. I just don’t get it 😢 The graphics also look super outdated, like from a earlie 2010 mobile game. EA is losing their course…
It’s odd that they choose to spread their effort and resources amongst several similar games. Makes sense to do one mobile game, one main Sims game, and the maybe a multiplayer/spin off. But this feels like they only want to go for low hanging fruit.

This reminds me of the Blizzard convention when they announced Diablo Immortal dedicated for mobile. To a room full of people who paid hundreds of dollars to be at the convention because they like the Blizzard games that were so far exclusively on PC.
When the people asked if they have plans to bring it to PC, the dude presenting said no. The room started boo-ing, of course. The dude then said "Do you guys not have phones?!"
This is now a meme marking the disconnect between devs and their audience and the height of disrespect they have for the people / clients that made it possible for the company to reach this far.

I think folks need to accept that for a long time EA has pushed there's no point in chasing an aging audience that's going to have different opinions on gameplay or be critical of your product when you can simply chase 8 year olds who are much less picky and can be lured in with microtransactions. They've been stripping down game-play and focusing on a new generation of gamers for a while now. For the past 4 years it's been clear that anyone looking for in depth storytelling shouldn't turn to EA.

I miss the time when the Sims were having the same vibes as the simpsons and south park. Now it feels like it's made for kids because they think since they are young, they won't complaint !

My reaction: ANOTHER mobile game? Sims Freeplay, Sims Mobile, Project Rene all are mobile games or have a mobile component. Why do we need this? Why does the mobile game demographic need this? I'm genuinely curious if anybody who reads this plays Sims's mobile games (I don't, so I'm really interested in someone's perspective who isn't me) has ideas or a wishlist of what they want from a new Sims mobile game option.
I think I would also be more on board with this is Project Rene didn't have a mobile component that they seem to be fixated on at the moment. If Project Rene was exclusively for Windows/Mac and various consoles, then I could understand adding a new/upgraded mobile game, perhaps to stop development/updates on one of the older mobile games.
I don't like the micro-transactions in most mobile games, so I tend to not play most mobile games. I feel micro-transactions are predatory in nature.
I should have mentioned they pulled support- or are going to - from sims mobile.
When I look at investor day, they also did not show or mention freeplay- and I think it is moved to another studio (fire monkeys?) but what I don't understand is the need for mobile centered components in rene too

I am curious what differences there are between the different mobile Sims game, because they all seem fairly interchangeable to me. Giving them a stronger focus on creating a neighbourhood might make a difference but I doubt that "compelling narrative" will make it to the feature list of this one.

Not my thing. I've never been interested in things like Urbs, Castaways, Sims Freeplay, or Sims Mobile. I'm also not interested in any of the "cozy" games people play on their phones (even if they do have farming, which I do like.)

The overall design reminds me so much of coral island (a pc farming sim game). It seems like they're trying to capture the charm of the old GBA/DS games but it's just not measuring up to those titles.

Yep, go for a younger audience with their parents bank details who don't pay close attention to what their kids do.
Having said that, the possibility of building your own town is appealing but everything else takes away from that, like seeing those coins move across when a quest is completed. That's very mobile.
Maybe their plan is to leak so much this week, YT'ers get burn out and can't cover anything else. They don't seem to want to let you have a break. 😁
I prob mentioned it to you, but with repeating that they really should consider possible ramifications if they are not careful. I really hope we see more rulings in the future from the FTC

@@SimmerErin Yes you did mention it and I agree. Some steps have been taken but not on a large enough scale to impact them.
I used to play Sims freeplay before i could buy the sims 4. As good as the PC game is, in some ways freeplay is much better. We got some pretty good assets half a decade ago, stuff we dont even have in the official sims game yet. Then they released the sims mobile and it was not great. So if they want to expand their mobile userbase, why not capitalise on freeplay? Its actually very well developed

Either way, kind of seems like EA is pushing hard to turn The Sims into a primarily mobile franchise, which is really disappointing.

On a more serious note, yeah, I would have loved if we get a spin-off like Bustin' Out or Urbz or Castaway or The Sims 2 (PS2) that is story-driven on PC. But alas, Andrew Wilson says this is exciting, so might as well it is 🥰

This reminds me of when Sims was on Facebook. You know back in 2007 or so when it was on there with games like Mafia and Nightclub City. Anyways not my thing so more than likely gonna drop Sims altogether soon like some of my fav UA-camrs did back at the beginning of Sims 4. They just knew exactly the path this game was going down, the rest of us just wanted to see the good in it.

I played Sim Mobile, unfortunately I stop playing it few year ago because I got bored with it. Sadly EA once again outta touch of how the sims came to be. Again I won’t be surprised overtime this game will be like the Sims Mobile begun a flope. If they keep on making more childish sims mobile games, they will losing a lot of old players who support Maxis studio for making the Sims 1 (before EA took over Maxis), 2, 3, 4, different series of Spin offs, & etc back in the eras, but will also loses this youngest generations how don’t know how the sims came to be back then, eventually some will get bored playing this childish sims mobile games & move on to other life simulation games (Paralive, Inzoi, & etc).

i think the most simple answer is that they are targeting this game to very younger audiences compared to rene. many kids are invested in the sims in such a young age and this seems like the sims with a mix of my sims
many assets in the game like the grilled cheese plaza asset are very unserious… it’s obviously not targeted for rene / sims 4 players

The odd thing is people mention getting into the mainline Sims game via there parents. There wasn’t like a “kid zone” sims, many kids saw the mainline open sandbox of sims and wanted to play that.
I have no interest in mobile games. I've played the Sims since 2000 and now it doesn't feel the same. I don't like the direction EA is taking. Guess it's time for me to move on as I'm obviously not their target demographic any longer.

Another cash grab from EA that doesn't even look interesting enough to kids who have thousands of other options to play that look way more appealing... At this point I'm just so done with EA and with the way they are burying this franchise.

I don’t even know what positive news would be anymore. That new players with new priorities like the new content? More attempts to patch years old bugs? No weird schemes to manipulate old players into new behaviors for a few weeks? New packs not breaking old saves?
Sims 4 being cancelled. Guess I have to wait for that positive news for another 10 years lol.

The only good thing to come out of this is a cute Bella design in which she isn’t whitewashed tbh. But that’s pointless if they do it for a mobile game with poor graphics and they can’t even translate something as simple as that to a proper PC game 🥴

Damnit. Just make "The Best of the Sims". Combine all the lore, quirkiness, the building aspects, the multi cue function, open world, cars, color wheel, animals, occults, weather, etc from Sims 1 to Sims 4.

I saw another video about the game and what I found interesting is that Ms. Nicole Vogue appears in Town Stories although the game (at least from LochsPlay) oddly enough omits the period after "Ms" which is odd as even the original MySims got it right (she's referred to as *Ms. Nicole* in that game). I do remember seeing The Sims FreePlay also using British spellings and that makes sense in that game as Firemonkeys is an Australian developer.

It would be perfect for young kids. But personally, it is not for me. I will stick to my Sims 4

This sounds like the standard mobile game setup and its either gonna take forever to complete things or be super grind base. EA is ready to put me out to pasture as a player and I’ll leave and take my money to Paralives and maybe inzoi.

My guess is that, with MySims current popularity as a nostalgic childhood game (and recent announcement of a rerelease on modern hardware), this is their attempt to create that again or improve it - either for new, child fans or the original, now grown fans of MySims. Because, apart from the art style, which is very in line with their current mobile Sims games, the actual premise, the selling point, is literally just MySims. Down to the use of "essences", gathered from the world or by completing quests, as crafting materials to create your own items and furnishings, which you'll use to complete more on-rails quests or decorate your played sim's home, which you can also craft to look however you want.
Why do they limit themself by creating a Mobil game for children. I thought they would get more money and less headache if they made it for adults. If they remasterd Sims 2 and maybe even sims. most the players would be nostalgia players. the good thing with them is that they got their own money. so no angry parents that woulnder how it´s posilbe to spend a grand or more on the game. not forgeting. Govrements arn´t going to care. as their is no Parents that bothers them over it.

It's not strange to me, it's the trend among teens. Their target audience. They definitely could target all generations ( unfortunately there'd still be arguing) but it seems they don't want to. Eden if us older players said "but think of how much more money you'd be making" which I know realistically no one would say.
To my knowledge, mobile is so limited vs PC and console so whether it's this game, or Rene, I'm concerned if the goal is to continue as they have been doing with 4, how PC and console get the same.
the main gameplay is why I don't like mobile... and I don't like playing on phones period (of course, I do have a small screen too ha) my dad has some word games he plays, those are okay I suppose.

If i'd wanted a portable sims game with storyline, i'd dug my 3ds and stick to old sims 2 for portable consoles, even though the games are +/- 20 years old - at least it didn't have microtransactions and predatory mobile games tactics

Simmer Erin a UA-camr called LochsPlays has early access gameplay of SimsLab TownStories on his UA-cam channel if you wanna see it. First thing they Got wrong, naming Bella Goth Bella Goth BEFORE she was married. That’s Mortimer’s name, she’s a Batchelor by birth and Goth by marraige but I think they knew that name wouldn’t ping as hard except for those of us into the history and lore. 😂
The only interest I have in a Sims mobile title is if a proper life sim (a la PC/Mac) existed, which is still missing on phones and tablets, and even better if it were cross platform like Stardew Valley. But I'm not holding my breath. That kind of life sim lacks the infamous mobile-style monetization, even if it were a paid app.
i agree, it sounds really good... until you say its mobile. i would love to see sims stories make a return, but not on mobile. also they completely stopped supporting one of their other mobile games right? after players were actually invested in it. why would they pick up another game theyll likely stop supporting in the future? and seems like theyre gonna do that for freeplay
yeah, they pulled support from sims mobile. currently, freeplay is still going. if you look at what they showed during investor day, there was: Project Rene, sims 4, my sims and this- project stories- on their map. so likely freeplay will be ditched too
This game reminded me of The Urbz, Sims in The City (NDS)! It can be cool to play this, you know? If the story is interesting and you can really change the city with your actions.
I didn’t realize how many people hate the simsfreeplay I absolutely love the game. For the longest time it was the only sim game I could play because I didn’t have a newer computer. Then I had finally gotten a new computer!!!!
Well maybe I was right. Maybe EA is just decided they're no longer even going to bother with trying to make real games and just going to make Asian style mobile games to extract more from audiences who never even heard of The Sims.
It really sucks, but my hope for the future is completely gone. Whatever the future holds we're never going to see another Sims game like previous titles.

I get it, they need younger players, but it doesn't feel like they care too much for those of us that helped build the Sims franchise into what it is (was). They're doing too much. IMO, the focus should be on creating a quality product that people will love. They need us OG simmers to keep playing because we actually purchase content. This free to play, online model, is not what a lot of the older players want. Simmers like me would be happy if they just fixed all the issues with this 10 year old game that we've been pouring money into hoping for improvements, but we never get on release.

I tried Sims Mobile a while ago. Didn't get into it. Agree this looks really similar.

Seeing as this would be a game similar to FreePlay and Mobile especially for Simmers who hate both games, and the fact it won't be a sandbox mobile game like the main PC/Mac games (though granted, it _is_ a spin-off which would be the first spin-off since Mobile), I can see Town Stories would cause controversy especially as this would be another freemium game. The video from Sims Community has a 75% dislike ratio (using Return UA-cam Dislike) even though it's not from EA which shows that Simmers aren't happy about the new game.
About the children thing, it can be understandable that kids do actually play The Sims despite the ESRB and PEGI ratings being Teen and 12 respectively although games prior to The Urbz: Sims in the City for the latter did use PEGI 7 before using PEGI 12 as the standard.
Interestingly, the game mentions SimValley which is the setting of The Sims Bustin' Out on GBA although it's not mentioned if the "SimValley" in Town Stories is the same location featured in the GBA game.

I’m not gonna lie, this mobile spin off is way worse than TheSimsMobile and FreePlay itself, compared to those games, project rene stories just feels like a BIG DOWNGRADE from TSM and FreePlay.

@@SimmerErin sorry, these names are confusing 😣 but project stories is just a big bug downgrade from TSM and FreePlay, we all know that FreePlay is a very old game and is striving to this day, why did they make a hideous combination of TSM and FreePlay. This is a big disrespect to players who love and play TSM and FreePlay.

Nope! It's like if Freeplay and Mobile had a son. I used to play those just to pass time when i didn't have my pc with me like on vacation for example but I really never cared about those games at all. The only thing I can praise them in this crap is the return of blue UI (a sims classic) other than that it's like "good luck girl, I don't care!" 😐😮💨

I might be the minority cause i don't see a problem with this. When i didn't have a laptop to play sims, i played the mobile versions and they were good. Of course the laptop version is better but its good for people that can't afford a laptop. Theres also a high probability that the laptop version of project rene might be more elevated. Its not a bad thing for people that actually like things like these.

I don't so much have an issue with there being a mobile game, so much as I don't like:
1- how it appears to be very marketed towards kids
2- how they have also integrated mobile concepts into rene
for rene, I was hoping the mobile concept would be limited: like you can build on the go. In short, I don't want a pc game to be limited or monetized like a mobile game, and don't quite see the need for many mobile games.
of course, it's perfectly fine we differ on this- just wanted to clarify my personal concerns

Also what is up with battle passes? That sounds like something only games that have that and were ment to do have. For instance, fort Night I think has battle passes and other games like it. But why do that to SIMS games. That NOT Sims! That was NEVER Sims! And then there is this thing about Microtransaction?? Whar the heck is that about?? Again sounds like something from.Sims Mobile. I can say this much. This game is NOT going to be for ME. NO thanks EA
I will WAIT for InZoi to hopefully come out at launch time. Now InZOI at leaste seems like a game WORTH MY time to buy and to play

hey, so it's not rene. rene does have a mobile compatibly but this is an additional- separate and entirely mobile game

This very much looks like a cross betwewn Sims mobile and Sims Free play. N Did NOT like either as I have played them BOTH. I don't think I like this NEW Direction EA is going. NOT only are they going to RUN Sims 4 into the ground but they are also trying to MAKE us HATE the Sims 4 . Then WHEN Sims 4 is done for, EA is going to
GET US sim players to GET thier NEW take on Sims with Project Rene and say, "HEY play this simce Sims 4 is Broken game. Here TRY this game."
