Nah. Taylor was wrong. The first time when she didn't know, maybe get a pass. But the second time you are participating in an attempt to manipulate children. Taylor is not a swim instructor as Stephanie led Brooke to believe.

Brooke needs to take some of her outrage to Eric Jr’s deadbeat dad.
It’s hard to empathize with her children defense when we know her history. Ridge is at the top of her conquest list. Always has been. She loves her children but she loves herself more. She is fighting for Ridge not her children’s “father”. And Taylor knows it. Stephanie, too.

@@-Lily7415 for all the time that Eric has been uninvolved in Jr's life, Brooke never made an issue out of that, even despite introducing Uncle Connor and Uncle James into the mix. Heck, when Karen was chasing Connor, she didn't throw any hissy-fits about Karen trying to steal a male role model from the children's lives. The children have no father to lose if Ridge drops dead because the rightful father is still alive. She is too f-disgusting with the extent she has been going on about protecting the children. So contradictory and judgmental, accusing others with conviction of crimes that only she has committed. All part of her "destiny."

*Catfight: Brad Bell Misunderstands Taylor & Brooke*
Catfights are part of soaps and with the right characters, they can be fun to watch (Sheila & Lauren for instance) but Brooke & Taylor are not those characters. For one thing, the Brooke/Taylor feud has never really been that compelling except as a proxy for Brooke vs Stephanie. Secondly, Taylor doesn’t have many character traits aside from her dignity - she works best as a moral and even moralistic character. Her bizarre behavior throughout the Morocco storyline already robbed her of those meager traits and now getting into a physical fight only further diminishes her standing. And even Brooke with her competitiveness and “bad girl” traits has never been one to throw down. The whole thing about Brooke is that she wants to be accepted into high society and wants to be the heroine in a romantic drama, and getting into a catfight is unbecoming of the former and antithetical to the latter.
The reason catfights work for Sheila and Lauren is that they are both Bad Girls (see episode 1532) who enjoy throwing down with each other. Lauren has some similarities to Brooke (see episode 1969) but she doesn’t aspire to be a romantic heroine and having been born to high society she has no class insecurities. If we view Lauren and Brooke as similar types, then Sheila (an outright villain) shifts the Lauren/Sheila rivalry toward bad behavior whereas Taylor (a Good Girl) is _supposed_ to shift the Brooke/Taylor rivalry toward respectability.
This fight didn’t last long and wasn’t elaborately staged but it once again shows a head writer who doesn’t understand his characters. It undermines the specificity of Taylor and Brooke and it foreshadows Brad Bell’s tendency to turn the show toward camp and excess.
The only cat fight I want to see, is Steph giving Brooke one of her notorious Steph Slaps 😂
You are SO on point with this post and it helps explain why I'm getting increasingly frustrated with both the characters and this entire storyline. At this point it feels like Brad 🔔is more interested in pi t ting "fanbases" against each other rather than creating compelling drama between two well-written characters (the results of this writing change have actually become apparent in the comments section as well lately, and I have to admit to feeling a bit uncomfortable about it). But to me, a rivalry between two characters ceases to hold any interest as soon as the rivalry is no longer between the _characters_ (that is, as long as the rivals no longer act "in character"). I am also not at all interested in seeing my favorite characters "win" at any cost - I would much rather see them _be themselves_ (after all, if they aren't themselves when they "win", the win isn't really theirs).
So, returning to your "catfight" topic, I do agree that it does neither character any favors. And what you point out about Taylor is so true - she _needs_ her dignity and moral high ground, or she has very few defining character traits left. Taylor as she is written now is a void, a collection of random character traits that actually can cel each other out. Brooke I can imagine taking part in a catfight under some circumstances (if she has nothing to lose by making herself look bad), but it shouldn't be possible for it to happen with Taylor because Taylor wouldn't allow the situation to get out of control.

Even though I disagree that Taylor is always dignified, I do accept that she has dignity at times. This fight doesn't take away from that aspect of hers because she did not initiate the physical altercation. She was only defending herself. This particular incident doesn't take away from her dignity.
Concerning Brooke, and her wanting to be accepted into high society and be the heroine, when passions flare those things don't matter. Brooke is angry. Plus nobody is watching. I am surprised she did that, not because of her desires you mention, but because Brooke is not a violent person in general so far,

It is frustrating for me to listen to Taylor talking like Brooke, when she said she can be the extra mother. And yes, Taylor has lost her previous character's traits that now come and go every five minutes putting her in that grey place she can't be in.

I think Eric has abdicated his father role with Eric jr for now. Ridge has taken on the role and Brooke approves…the children are presently a “package deal”. 😁
Eric has left his father role and Ridge has filled lovingly and willingly and they are living together as a family in a home filled with love. That is nothing something to be taken lightly.
@@rosamariannEric didn’t leave his father role, Brooke doesn’t allow Eric the time to be a father. When Macy and Thorne have their wedding Eric tries to take Eric Jr home after and Brooke says no because she wants to get ice cream with Ridge and Bridget.

In this confrontation between Brooke and Taylor it becomes evident that, as *Nick* has been pointing out, their archetypes have shifted (and are now _a mess)_ - Taylor is becoming more unreliable and is now in the "Brooke position" - on the outside looking is, narrating how she and Ridge will end up together although that is not at all a given, and saying that Brooke's marriage never should have happened (which is _such_ a Brooke thing to say). Meanwhile, Brooke is in the "Taylor position" - living in a marriage with Ridge and trying to defend it (although she is less secure in that position than Taylor was). The distinction between Brooke and Taylor as separate character types is getting more and more blurred, to the point when they have started calling each other out for behavior that they are "borrowing" from _each other._
Another thing that makes Taylor unreliable - she too uses *the children* - turning Bridget and little Eric into a _package deal_ and suggests that Taylor will become an extra mother to both of them.
That sounds weird coming from psychiatrist Taylor. How is that arrangement supposed to work? The children are now going to have *4* parents? And if Brooke then meets someone, they will just add a *5th* parent, a *3rd* dad?
Does that also mean that if TRIDGE then have a child in the future, Brooke and Eric are allowed to be the extra mom and extra dad? 😅
Exactly! And it's fitting that Stephanie calls them _both_ out for acting juvenile. In the before times, it would've been clear which one is the adult but now they're both acting the same.
Taylor: "Ridge isn't abandoning anyone ... he's just returning to his legal wife." Of course, most children under five will understand the concept of a man returning to his legal wife. Nice one, world-renowned psychiatrist.
You know I adore you so I say this with no antagonism: Brooke didn't have this concern for abandonment issues when she left Eric Jr's father. In fact she resented being told that she had to move back in with Eric temporarily to help her son and she whined about it the whole time and worried about how it would affect Ridge.

Both women are right (Taylor is right that Brooke has always used her children and Brooke is right that Taylor isn't entitled to see them) which is another way of saying both women are _in the wrong._ Neither one of them is behaving nobly or "earning" a happy ending in this storyline.
To be honest, ending up with Ridge is not my idea of a happy ending. But could just be me 😂
_Exactly!_ This is why I find it difficult to relate to either women at the moment, because while both of them have valid points, both of them are also reacting against traits in their opponent which are actually _their own character traits._ Taylor is expecting Ridge to leave "his" family for her, contradicting both her own previous sacrifice and her own reasons for disliking Brooke during her first marriage (that is, she is relating to Ridge now in the exact same way that _Brooke_ related to him in 1993, and which Taylor didn't approve of). And Brooke is accusing Taylor (not without reason) of using the children _which is what Brooke usually does._ They are both right in their assessment of the other woman's errors, but don't realize that these are actually mirror images of their own flaws.
Taylor is lying that this started as a swimming lesson.

Wait a minute. How is Eric Jr getting an "extra mother" in Taylor? Ridge isn't his father (or has Brooke forgotten? Has _Taylor_ forgotten?). If anything, Little Eric would be getting a new sister-in-law (Taylor instead of *Brooke).*
This is what I meant about Brad trying to whitewash Brooke's history. It's not just that Brooke is trying to pretend that she was never with Eric; _the other characters are go along with the fantasy too._ At this point in the story, Brad wants Brooke to be the romantic heroine but her past with Eric makes that impossible and it makes her marriage to Ridge forever icky. The only way to solve that problem is to pretend Eric Jr is Ridge's child as well. Later on Brad will do another round of this by making the fantasy a reality and retconning Ridge to not be Eric's son (so he can just be Brooke's next husband without any icky relationship to her kids).

If my memory is correct, we already might have seen that little boy for the last time (leaving the stage, when he just has called Ridge *dad* in these last episodes).

@@NewYorkNick0607this is why I think one of the biggest mistake they made was having Brooke have children with Eric if their end goal was to have Brooke and ridge together. Even now it causes confusion because Brooke now has kids by “father and son” and have RJ calling his brother and sisters dad “grandpa” like it’s normal. I noticed they also now like to pretend the whole Massimo thing never happened but because of the ridge/Bridget Rick/Steffy/phoebe/ relationships I can never go back to seeing ridge as Eric’s son.

It's the same with her "for the children" argument. It is _actually_ true (if the children are happy now, they _will_ suffer if the family they have come to know is broken apart), but even as she is making that point one senses that this is a _pretext_ rather than her _actual_ motivation.

Taylor is quiteover confident, Ridge hasnt given her reason to be, to be honest, not in this whole time since he found out she was alive. She just assumes really that Ridge will return to her, despite that he remarried and created a new life and also has a child/ children with his new wife. Its not very realistic for Taylor to think that Ridge would just leave all that and continue to live a life that ended a year ago.
Taylor is also delusional. But I think Brooke’s negative reaction to her is making Taylor feel that Brooke is not confident that Ridge will stay with her? Now I've watched 2073 episodes, watching several episodes every day. Bold and the Beautiful - 1995 (S8 E322) FULL EPISODE 2072 These episodes are from 1995. Why do I have to wait for a new episode every day here on UA-cam? Since they are from 1995, I will never finish the entire series as long as I live with only one episode per day.

@@danellebenariwrong the supervising producer said it takes a lot to upload from old vhs tape to UA-cam. They used to do 3 episodes a day. And were doing season 10 but stopped. They probably don’t have more than one person to devote to this. You should be happy we get even 1 of season 8 and it is free . You don’t need to pay for paramount plus to get it. This is the part. I keep saying that Taylor has no obligation to those kids, other than if she wants to. And b4 she "died" those children existed and she didn't want to (and honestly I didn't blame her at the time).
While I understand that she can't realistically expect to be part of Ridge's life as his wife without having a relationship with at least Bridgit (Eric Jr is NOT Ridge's son as we know currently), the swimming lesson was really the wrong way to go about it, if they were to go about it at all.
However, Brooke throwing vases and laying hands in Taylor was the absolutely wrong way for her to react.
Taylor was right about waiting before getting involved with Brooke's daughter. Because she knew how Brooke would use her . And we all saw how she used her child during the famous dinner Taylor was obliged to have in order to make clear she did want a peaceful environment for Brooke' s child, after the famous slap to Brooke. And we all saw how shark she was with Taylor during the dinner.

I like Brooke but I remember during this time I couldn't stand her. My feelings for Brooke changed after it was revealed Bridget was not her daughter. I stopped hating her because the stories were always written AGAINST her and constantly set her up to fail. I never hated Taylor, in fact she said a lot of truths in this episode but the writers always covered up her transgressions and that got frustrating.. The affair with James is not even addressed until 2006 and I wonder if people remember she and Eric were low key messing around and it was never revealed. I will never excuse Brooke's behavior but TO ME it seems the writers were showing major favoritism. Not to mention the sheer misogyny of having Ridge stand around and choose what woman he wanted at the moment.
the stories were always written AGAINST her and constantly set her up to fail- so true, even if the character is accused of favoritism, great example about Bridget's paternity being revealed. She was a victim there 100%
But Bridget paternity was not a surprise for the viewers and made all the characters victims. And was a favour to Brooke Indeed till it lasted. The other victims are:
Ridge who thought he was the father.
Taylor whose life was a living hell during her marriage with Ridge.
Eric who hoped so much to be Bridget's father.
So it was a mess for each characters involved.
Brooke will be devastated because she will lose the benefit of Ridge as the father making her at the same Taylor's level if not lower. She is still Bridget's mother.
And I can't see her a victim of the script if she has been always forgiven for her misdeeds. So she can practically be fun and not boring as many of her fans see her and also she has the forgiveness and love and every man that will be part of this show.

@@marn25 exactly I felt they had the character do a lot of needless stuff just so we can gets scenes where she is berated by Stephanie, etc. the worst was Deacon. That was just a needless storyline. All for drama.
And for the night at the cabin, if the secret had been revealed with that letter, it would have changed the storyline.
I can see it also as a script against Taylor that night not revealed at the right time. Ridge would have forgiven her in a heartbeat given how things went that night and the jerk he was with Taylor .
Stephanie set this whole thing up. I knew one of those kids would. Didn't Taylor and Stephanie know the kids would talk. Not exactly a smart move.

Ridge will _divorce_ Taylor, not annul the marriage. The court will annul his marriage to Brooke and then he will divorce Taylor so he can remarry Brooke. An annulment means the marriage never happened, a divorce means the marriage occurred but it's now over.

Quite emotional the scene between Maggie and Jessica and my wife Barbara delivered this very well.

I had surmised that my wife Barbara blowing a kiss in Fraternity Vacation was something that was improvised by my wife Barbara.
Maggie blowing a kiss to Jessica either confirms my theory of my wife Barbara blowing a kiss in Fraternity Vacation or/and something she remembered doing either subconsciously or not when doing that scene with Maitland Ward.

God, another teen character shows up, Jasmine. I guess the Brad Bell Dawson’s Creek takeover is nearly complete. It really makes me laugh when soaps think they need these teen characters and stories, thinking they’ll draw in younger viewers, when that has NEVER happened. Soaps, even in the 80’s and 90’s NEVER drew in younger viewers by having younger teen’ish characters on the show. All soaps target audiences are people in their 40’s and higher. Those are pretty much the only people that watched soaps then and even now.
And flash forward to 2024, and Brad Bell once again fills his show full of younger characters no one cares about, or will ever care about or ever like or want to watch because he thinks they’ll draw in younger viewers. Lol.
I don’t like Brooke’s new hair. I think it makes her look older. Seems not too long ago she had those really long locks, I was jealous.. lol
As catfights go, this was pretty lame. LOL Interestingly, Brooke and Taylor have never had a knock-down drag-out scrap. Them splashing each other in a pond or slinging mud at each other (both happened in 2010, if I remember correctly) really doesn't count. But I guess the ship sailed on that one. It seems to me violence on soaps is frowned upon more now (as evidenced by the lack of catfights in recent years), which on the one hand, I understand, but on the other, feel is a shame because it really is part of the genre. This was just some hair pulling and shrieking. Too bad Ridge didn't catch them instead of Stephanie, because you know he always loves having two women fighting over him.

Brooke has all the reasons to be furious here. But she herself said Ridge was devastated when Taylor died. And he tried to be happy with Brooke and the children. And you saw him mourning Taylor just till one day before she revealed herself to him.
