You don't have to skip to Griggs, there's the locked up dude outside of the New Londo Ruins. You can reach him without a fight and he sells a copy of the basic spell, which is enough to get you all the way to Griggs without having to limit yourself.
The funny thing about calling DS1/DSR "Hard" is the fact pyromancy exists. Pyromancy requires no stat allocation than Attunement, can be obtained the second you reach the sewers, and has some of the strongest support/offensive magic in the game that isn't just Dark Bead.
ah pyromancy, one of my favorite schools of magic in these games, possibly my favorite. shame that several enemies are straight up fire proof lol, but agreed, if you know what you're doing the games aren't hard at all
Yeah Pyromancy is absolutely busted. You can have stats for the strongest weapon in the game and have magic that can 3 shot or 5 shot most bosses. Stupid! Lol and I love it
I did a souls level 1 Pyro run! it is incredibly easy! If you don't restrict yourself to level 1 pyro would probably be easier, minus the fire resistant bosses (even in my pyro only run I had to come up with creative ways to beat them)
I think that the sorcery is way easier. I just finished a run with a pyro+dex build (lvl 90, max pyro flame, 40 dex, Iaito+15) and I was using my weapon most of the time instead of the pyro. I even have Quelaag's sword and didn't use it that much. Most of the endgame bosses are either too fast to use pyro or fire resistant. Sorcery also has the cast-time problem but at least you can cast them from further away. Next run I do will be a faith build (maybe faith strengh or faith only with a divine/occult weapon, I haven't decided)
haha yeah 100% ER is harder. DS1's combat is so slow (comparatively) that the only fights that are challenging are Manus and Kalameet (because they actually move fast with large hit boxes). Honorable mention to O&S because Duo fight lol
This game has been out for how long? Multiple months and on ps4 I just searched through the achievements and only about 41% have set the erdtree on fire. Y’all that means the average person didn’t even finish half way through the game yet people act like there’s an easy mode if you use bleed and summons. I wonder how many people made it through malekith. I remember also hearing about how like 5% if the people have the gargoyle achievement when you beat the 2 gargoyles. If that’s true than this game is way to hard for the average person. Like not many people can play for hours straight and memorize the attack pattern when they actually have life’s. So I do advocate for a difficulty setting. Rn I’m stuck in malekith and I’d say I’m a decent player. Tbf I use the greatsword and it’s extemely crappy since a double handed sword style would be faster and would probably do more damage and actually hit before malekith runs away but I almost beat him with this crappy a.. sword. No matter how frustrated I wanna finish this now with this sword. Will take me multiple times dying and probably rage quitting but I think I am doing fine for my first run through and souls game. Also i did. beat the gargoyles with the greatsword and a weird stat build since I had no idea about builds and just leveled what looked better. Feel kinda proud of that tbh. But seeing people beat malekith with 2 moonveils and bleed and mimic than say it’s easy makes me feel like crap for not playing it the same way. But I intentionally never used spirit summons or other summons and did all of it alone because people said it’s an easy mode. Now I use the mimic just to test out how strong it actually is and it doesn’t do that much. Tbf the mimic is supposedly bad against malekith and gets confused since he’s so fast but still spirit summons really don’t do that much imo. Sometimes they can make it worse
Ok what he didn't figure out is that you can wear the invisibility ring (or cast hidden body) and the muffle ring, which basically lets you run through any area without being attacked and even lets you attack enemies without being detected. THAT is how OP you can be.
The Black Knights weapons are also op as well as pyromancies. I usually try to get one of the Black Knight weapons at the beginning, there are 3 swords and a possible halberd really early game. Not quite baby mode but not far off tbh.
in the first playtreough i almost built giant dad and i didnt know about him at that time :D fire bass cannon, father mask and some big armor + power within. in the beginning i tought ds is too hard, i died 37 times on taurus demon... but later i become god. (0 death on arty and manus)
@@Pistaa13 I facetanked Manus the first time I fought him with no deaths. it's ridiculous how strong Havel's armor + sorcery makes you, even if it's just weapon buffs and not even real spells. Having 20 +10 estuses doesn't hurt either, you really gotta screw up if 20 heals isn't enough to kill a boss.
@@asundelgun3487 I usually do deathless runs. The Gravelord sword is pretty good but too risky for me at the start of the game. I pick that up later on but the Black Knights sword can one shot the Capra Demon so it's a no brainer'.
There is a third option in the painted world for going to Priscilla. At the right side of the bridge you could drop down to an invisible ledge, and from there roll onto the lower level of the bridge.
Honestly? I really like the low health high damage bosses of Elden ring It’s like a proper dance to the death where each hit regardless of target could completely change the tide
After shelving my original blind melee character at ornstein and smough whose stats I had royally fucked up, and then finishing on another run I was kinda soulsed out. Came back a few years later to try out sorcery and it turned into platinum trophies and collectors editions for all their games since lol. The final evolution into strength maining chad was the best part.

My dude the NPC quests end terrible cause they go hollow, the whole theme IMO is about keeping who you are and the friends along the way that help you keep sane. The tragedy is you help them in their pursuit of power and no one, not you or me can wield enough power to stave off death

For me baby easy mode is a strength/pyromancy build with high poise. Most bosses you can just stand there and take a fee hits and it doesnt even matter. Its how i beat the game the first time when i was a souls newbie so im partial to it as well, its nostalgic to me.
oh high poise tank strats is 100% the actual easy mode, this was just a silly video, I wouldn't expect people to do all the skips and stuff I did just to make the game easy haha
I heard that the Manus catalyst makes Dark Bead even more powerful with high strength due to its strength scaling and dark magic's split physical damage in DS1

Can confirm that it’s the case. I’ve been using the catalyst myself and it can be even more powerful then the crystal tin catalyst (for dark sorceries specifically if you have 30 into strength) and if you combine it with power within… bosses even in ng+ will fucking melt in one to two casts of dark bead.
The moment you get out of the Asylum, you can go down to the blacksmith in New Londo and buy another copy of Soul Arrow, as well as grab one of the best weapons for a sorcerer to have (the estoc). I'd personally do the Archives before Oolacile for all the extra spells. The homing soulmass spells also help alot- they deal pleanty of damage, have lots of casts, and can be cast away from enemies while still doing something.
Rickert bit is true and good advice for anyone doing a sorcery build, I just hate that guy lmao also I did oolacile first just to get destructively powerful, and the ability to break out of the cell using magic
God damn, I just noticed the trademark on the Dark Souls title screen and how it says 2012. That doesn't seem right lmao. I remember 2012 and how my friends and I were like "Let's smoke out on December 20th just in case," and I had no idea Dark Souls was even a thing back then. That animation cancel noted around 5:15 was extremely useful in PVP. Using wog you could cast and cancel but it would usually force a roll from the other player which you could catch with another cast of wog. Was just another way to play mind games
Someone else commented mentioning that awhile ago, I actually never did PvP in these games (willingly, looking at you invasions lol), so it was news to me!

@@DoomWolfOfficial can confirm that where the dragons left claw is during the fight, there is a break in the railing and by walking off there you land on an invisible section of the pillar which you can walk around and drop down on to the lower portion of the bridge that leads to the boss.
You can beat the game with zweihander, the two handed running R1 will always stunlock low poise bosses, like taurus demon, gargoyles, capra demon, ornstein, smough etc etc and the two handed r2 slam will always deal a high AR to everyone else except manus, so long as you are upgraded to +weapons at the right times, I.e +15 for the four kings etc, only 2 trouble bosses with swei are seath and manus but seath is not a hard boss anyway
Little note to the snake with the cell key after the mandatory death of Seath. There is one spell that can hit it (at least in Remastered) and that is Dark Orb. I don't know why but it can if you position yourself right, which isn't hard at all to find that position.
I didn't meant Dark Fog (the spell you used) I mean Dark Orb, a spell that fires a dark round projectile with a slow casting speed at enemies and can bei found near the silver pendant in Oolacile.
Haha I actually didn't own the remaster (on PC) until recently. I ran out of save slots on PtD, and instead of juggling save slots I just bought remaster

As someone that likes magic and whatnot in basically any game, it's weird that for me sorcery seemed to be so much harder than the other options in DS. And hell, I think in all 3 games, playing as sorceror without knowing how the game works can be more challanging that another class (maybe only a slow ass knight is harder for a first pick), but that being said, oh boy, for a third run and knowing more how to play, it indeed feels like you're a god. Specially in the first two games. Also goddamn seeing you play is amazing.
Magic is really strong (overpowered) _if_ you know where they are, my first playthroughs of these games are never magic focused (unless its used as utility) because you never know where the good spells/catalysts/talismans/etc are, even though in any other game like Skyrim I almost exclusively play mage haha
At the very beginning you can take the elevator under Firelink and go to the vendor there for your second copy of soul arrow. Then you can also buy a 3rd where he does in this video. Also don't bother with heavy soul arrow, just stick with normal and great until much later when you can increase your cast speed through dex, which will only make a tiny difference for fast spells but a huge difference for slow spells like the heavy ones and dragon breath.
I think it's important to consider that most of these "things that make game baby easy" aren't likely to appear in a normal blind first run of the game, especially not for the people who would actually need an easy mode. Like, come on, what are the odds of finding big hat logan on a first playthrough? What are the odds a normal playthrough player does the DLC as early as possible (and then also finds dark bead there)? What are the odds of assembling ALL of the magic-boosting special equipment? People often complain how OP and easy-mode magic is in ds1, but they tend to ignore the reality of the situation in a normal playthrough - which is "cast only soul arrows and nothing else forever" which is dreadfully boring and no fun at all and also not nearly as effective as someone who knows the game assembling an optimized build.
..which is why I made this whole video as a joke at the idea of an easy mode lol If you wanted a first time player to have an easy time, It'd be better to suggest turtle starts with high stamina and strength, imo but this video was just like..satire haha

Yup :) never disappoints I still remember after my first blind playthrough I did some pvp with a friend, a guy parried me, riposte I live and right after Iframes ended my friend one tapped him with dark bead, was dying laughing and spent a while just baiting players into dark bead 1 shots
Seeing you enjoy these games and make these challenge runs just reminds me how I feel like I’m missing out, despite how much I don’t enjoy them. I’ve genuinely tried to get into souls-likes multiple times, but the controls, atmosphere, and mechanics are just too difficult for me to figure out, for any of them. Which sucks because I hear so much about how it helped people with their depression and how the games are some of the most fun they’ve ever had, so whenever I try to play them and find them too hard or frustrating, I feel like I’m missing out on them. Like some sort of guilt for not liking them or that there’s just something I don’t personally understand. It also doesn’t help when the default answer to saying the games are too difficult is just to get gud. It makes me feel so bad for disliking them so much. And your channel has a lot of enjoyable souls content to watch. I enjoy the videos a lot and hope you make more for some time to come. And if you do read this, I appreciate that you took the time out to hear a 23 year old talk about his experiences with these games (and hopefully aren’t too bummed by them). @@DoomWolfOfficial I haven’t, no. I’m typically more of a solo player with games and the few times I have played games coop with other people, I’m the only one that tends to stick with the games or is willing to do coop. The rest of my friends really don’t.
DS1 remastered still has a soul dupe that works in 2022. I did it for my NG+ play through. I added 100 levels, 50 in faith and intelligence just for fun.
My baby-only mode is using a high strength starting class, choosing master key, booking it down to Blight town, get the Blight Town bonfire and rest, run to the great hollow, avoid enemies on the way down, run past the hydra in Ash Lake, cut off the tail of the dragon that gives you the dragon covenant, jump to your doom to return to Blight Town bonfire. Level strength to 35 and enjoy two handing the Dragon Greatsword. Press R1 to win.
5:12 yeah thats a pivit cancel, and you're right it serves no use in the main game. pvp though its neat to cancel a spell, let them roll then backstab them
Hearing pivot cancel my mind just goes to Smash tech lol I never PvPed in Dark souls (at least not against my will) so I had never really thought about it, but a few people have mentioned that! Cool to see that kind of tech utilized in Dark Souls
A suggestion inspired by this run: A run in which you hit every single enemy and NPC in the game with your fist at least once. You can kill them however...but first, they must taste knuckles.

~500 hrs played across ds1, ds2, ds3, and elden ring, as well as all achievements in ds2, ds3, and elden ring, and I’ve only ever done strength builds because who needs dex or any type of magic?
we used to do spellcasting animation cancels in pvp as a mind game trick, mostly with pyromancy and WOG, if your opponent spots the startup animation they might be tempted to roll away, less experienced players would even roll forward making them very sucseptible to a backstab. For some reason the ability to 'pivot' your character is absoloutely busted in that not only can it cancel spells but you can also frame perfect pivot and face tank direct attacks with heavy weapons without being staggered (Even with low/no poise)

Honestly, using the Stone Set you can find early in the forest and just face tanking bosses and chugging in their face is probably way easier then magic. Or hell, you can do both.
@@DoomWolfOfficial for me it feels much slower because of the high end lag on most attacks and stamina management. I fought Chariot +1 for 2 hours (I'm bad + first Souls game, gotta git gud) for the Ring because I couldn't stand the stamina recovery rate 😂 But that one's probably on me

Sl1 is sooooooooooo much fun, i love it. +5 maxed pyro flame and spam chaos fire balls, bosses get deleted.

Two copies of Combustion and you can clean out almost any area, pretty fun for co-op

partly Cuz ERs bosses are kinda garbage with Extra aggressive AI and infinite stamina 20 hit anime Combos that do Half your health each hit.

haha I too enjoy the big bonk builds. In DS1 specifically I find great enjoyment in all dex, str, int, faith, its all fun haha

Also, if you want SUPER easy baby mode pick up the Hidden Body Sorcery. It makes everything outside of boss rooms (plus Capra) a cake-walk.

For me baby easy mode is a strength/pyromancy build with high poise. Most bosses you can just stand there and take a fee hits and it doesnt even matter. Its how i beat the game the first time when i was a souls newbie so im partial to it as well, its nostalgic to me.
oh high poise tank strats is 100% the actual easy mode, this was just a silly video, I wouldn't expect people to do all the skips and stuff I did just to make the game easy haha

I believe you are correct, but I had already invested a lot in int and early investment into strength would have made it less than easy mode :P lol

Can confirm that it’s the case. I’ve been using the catalyst myself and it can be even more powerful then the crystal tin catalyst (for dark sorceries specifically if you have 30 into strength) and if you combine it with power within… bosses even in ng+ will fucking melt in one to two casts of dark bead.
The moment you get out of the Asylum, you can go down to the blacksmith in New Londo and buy another copy of Soul Arrow, as well as grab one of the best weapons for a sorcerer to have (the estoc). I'd personally do the Archives before Oolacile for all the extra spells. The homing soulmass spells also help alot- they deal pleanty of damage, have lots of casts, and can be cast away from enemies while still doing something.
Rickert bit is true and good advice for anyone doing a sorcery build, I just hate that guy lmao
also I did oolacile first just to get destructively powerful, and the ability to break out of the cell using magic
At the start of the game, you can just walk to new londo and but extra spells, realy helpfull to have extra 30 casts and another heavy spell 12 casts.

God damn, I just noticed the trademark on the Dark Souls title screen and how it says 2012. That doesn't seem right lmao. I remember 2012 and how my friends and I were like "Let's smoke out on December 20th just in case," and I had no idea Dark Souls was even a thing back then. I can't believe I'm so old that Dark Souls seems kinda more recent than I thought it was. This is so weird, man.

That animation cancel noted around 5:15 was extremely useful in PVP. Using wog you could cast and cancel but it would usually force a roll from the other player which you could catch with another cast of wog. Was just another way to play mind games
Someone else commented mentioning that awhile ago, I actually never did PvP in these games (willingly, looking at you invasions lol), so it was news to me!

P.d. if i remember right, in 14:46 you can drop down from one side of the bridge without attacking the dragon, I may be wrong though.

@@DoomWolfOfficial can confirm that where the dragons left claw is during the fight, there is a break in the railing and by walking off there you land on an invisible section of the pillar which you can walk around and drop down on to the lower portion of the bridge that leads to the boss.
You can beat the game with zweihander, the two handed running R1 will always stunlock low poise bosses, like taurus demon, gargoyles, capra demon, ornstein, smough etc etc and the two handed r2 slam will always deal a high AR to everyone else except manus, so long as you are upgraded to +weapons at the right times, I.e +15 for the four kings etc, only 2 trouble bosses with swei are seath and manus but seath is not a hard boss anyway
The Zweihander is a good weapon, one of my go to strength weapons in DS1!

It's kind of a shame you slept on the most powerful sorcery of them all, hidden body. You basically get to fight almost nothing but bosses with it.

Little note to the snake with the cell key after the mandatory death of Seath. There is one spell that can hit it (at least in Remastered) and that is Dark Orb. I don't know why but it can if you position yourself right, which isn't hard at all to find that position.

I didn't meant Dark Fog (the spell you used) I mean Dark Orb, a spell that fires a dark round projectile with a slow casting speed at enemies and can bei found near the silver pendant in Oolacile.

As someone that likes magic and whatnot in basically any game, it's weird that for me sorcery seemed to be so much harder than the other options in DS. And hell, I think in all 3 games, playing as sorceror without knowing how the game works can be more challanging that another class (maybe only a slow ass knight is harder for a first pick), but that being said, oh boy, for a third run and knowing more how to play, it indeed feels like you're a god. Specially in the first two games. Also goddamn seeing you play is amazing.
Magic is really strong (overpowered) _if_ you know where they are, my first playthroughs of these games are never magic focused (unless its used as utility) because you never know where the good spells/catalysts/talismans/etc are, even though in any other game like Skyrim I almost exclusively play mage haha
At the very beginning you can take the elevator under Firelink and go to the vendor there for your second copy of soul arrow. Then you can also buy a 3rd where he does in this video. Also don't bother with heavy soul arrow, just stick with normal and great until much later when you can increase your cast speed through dex, which will only make a tiny difference for fast spells but a huge difference for slow spells like the heavy ones and dragon breath.

I think it's important to consider that most of these "things that make game baby easy" aren't likely to appear in a normal blind first run of the game, especially not for the people who would actually need an easy mode.
Like, come on, what are the odds of finding big hat logan on a first playthrough? What are the odds a normal playthrough player does the DLC as early as possible (and then also finds dark bead there)? What are the odds of assembling ALL of the magic-boosting special equipment?
People often complain how OP and easy-mode magic is in ds1, but they tend to ignore the reality of the situation in a normal playthrough - which is "cast only soul arrows and nothing else forever" which is dreadfully boring and no fun at all and also not nearly as effective as someone who knows the game assembling an optimized build.
..which is why I made this whole video as a joke at the idea of an easy mode lol
If you wanted a first time player to have an easy time, It'd be better to suggest turtle starts with high stamina and strength, imo but this video was just like..satire haha

Seeing you enjoy these games and make these challenge runs just reminds me how I feel like I’m missing out, despite how much I don’t enjoy them. I’ve genuinely tried to get into souls-likes multiple times, but the controls, atmosphere, and mechanics are just too difficult for me to figure out, for any of them. Which sucks because I hear so much about how it helped people with their depression and how the games are some of the most fun they’ve ever had, so whenever I try to play them and find them too hard or frustrating, I feel like I’m missing out on them. Like some sort of guilt for not liking them or that there’s just something I don’t personally understand. It also doesn’t help when the default answer to saying the games are too difficult is just to get gud. It makes me feel so bad for disliking them so much. And your channel has a lot of enjoyable souls content to watch. I enjoy the videos a lot and hope you make more for some time to come. And if you do read this, I appreciate that you took the time out to hear a 23 year old talk about his experiences with these games (and hopefully aren’t too bummed by them). Keep up the good work man. Thanks for the enjoyment you bring me and a lot of people every day.

DS1 remastered still has a soul dupe that works in 2022. I did it for my NG+ play through. I added 100 levels, 50 in faith and intelligence just for fun.
True, i'm actually running PTDe, of which I have soul duped before (not in this video), but yeah! Would have made it even easier

My baby-only mode is using a high strength starting class, choosing master key, booking it down to Blight town, get the Blight Town bonfire and rest, run to the great hollow, avoid enemies on the way down, run past the hydra in Ash Lake, cut off the tail of the dragon that gives you the dragon covenant, jump to your doom to return to Blight Town bonfire. Level strength to 35 and enjoy two handing the Dragon Greatsword.
Press R1 to win.

5:12 yeah thats a pivit cancel, and you're right it serves no use in the main game. pvp though its neat to cancel a spell, let them roll then backstab them
Hearing pivot cancel my mind just goes to Smash tech lol I never PvPed in Dark souls (at least not against my will) so I had never really thought about it, but a few people have mentioned that! Cool to see that kind of tech utilized in Dark Souls
A suggestion inspired by this run: A run in which you hit every single enemy and NPC in the game with your fist at least once. You can kill them however...but first, they must taste knuckles.

~500 hrs played across ds1, ds2, ds3, and elden ring, as well as all achievements in ds2, ds3, and elden ring, and I’ve only ever done strength builds because who needs dex or any type of magic?
no dex or int?? you're missing out on half the game friend! ...though, I too am an enjoyer of the bonk lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial bare minimum of Dex is all you need, and then you can caveman enemies into oblivion
we used to do spellcasting animation cancels in pvp as a mind game trick, mostly with pyromancy and WOG, if your opponent spots the startup animation they might be tempted to roll away, less experienced players would even roll forward making them very sucseptible to a backstab.
For some reason the ability to 'pivot' your character is absoloutely busted in that not only can it cancel spells but you can also frame perfect pivot and face tank direct attacks with heavy weapons without being staggered (Even with low/no poise)
Someone else mentioned using WotG for the cancel, I never deliberately pvped in this game, so I didn't get to experience that haha
