CRTs have the potential to look good, and if properly set up, they're awesome. I think the main reason that one looks so crappy is that the light in the room is killing the contrast. If you turn off the light, it will look a lot better.
@@ps-lover8380 But just imagine for a second playing ps4 games through composite, those games are formatted for HD, even towards the end of the 7th generation text in videogames was getting impossible to read
The reason the picture went bad with the golf game is that the picture was brighter so your camera adjusted to a higher shutter speed meaning it takes in light for a shorter period and since the CRT scans the picture top to bottom once per frame you need to have a shutter that is open pretty much all the time or the camera will miss parts of the frame being scanned.

Definitely. CRT displays are far more versatile than their modern counterparts, and with the right set (HD CRT with HDMI and component connections), it can be an infinitely better experience than gaming on a modern display.
I'd recommend trying an HD CRT with the PS5. The downscaling effects from the converter degrade signal quality and increase input latency and also creates many visual artifacts. The non-legible text is due to this downscaling as well; the PS5 is outputting at resolutions the converter can interpret, and is essentially compressing the signals to be viewable on a lower resolution display. Some more recent CRT sets have HDMI, but you can use a set with Component connections, using a converter. Composite connections cannot output higher 480i resolutions, but component can output modern 720p & 1080p resolutions easily. Edit: made correction to composite resolution output.
Depending on how old you are, this gives you an idea of the consoles we grew up that predates hd and lcd tvs. If you can get your hands on a sony wega tv, those are by far the best to play older games with. As far as retro gaming, i love playing older games on newer screens.

How to connect your modern computer into a crt tv: 1. Plug your HDMI cable to the graphics card 2. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI to AV converter (HDMI input to AV output) 3. Connect the Ext to AV so you can have stereo output sound on the TV 4. Make sure that the converter has power 5. Make sure that your Graphics Processing Unit can output sound (like I have) And power on your PC/laptop then you're done

You would think that because the PS5 has a high resolution, it would look almost realistic on a CRT, but instead it just looks like a really crisp PS2 game.
@Throw Away of course it's downscaled. I never said it wasn't, first of all. Second of all, even if it is downscaled, you're still starting with a high amount of information. It's very pixelated bc it's on the CRT, yet it's still very crisp because you're starting that conversation with a lot of video information.
