@@AboveEmAllProduction it’s not “just pitched up a little bit” it’s about the limitations of the equipment back in the early 90s, it’s about him digging for THAT record, it’s about sitting through all the music and pick THAT part to sample, it’s not the usual 2 bar loop that you hear from people even these days. It’s a strange part in the sample that he chopped up in a way that completely changed the sound and intention of the original music.
@@dumbledee maybe you confused it with another sample? Ice cream sample is not chopped up, it's literally a continuous few seconds then pitched up. Try it yourself if you don't believe me 💁

@@DJFurio that's one of my favorite Stevie songs, or really all time favorites. I've been telling myself it's time to dig into wu tang and do my homework
RZA definitely took samples to a new level. Some of the best producers chose superb sounds to mix and loop to make the greatest beats, but something RZA stood out. He chose some good samples on par with everyone else’s of his era, but really knew how to flip them. Seeing the before and after is crazy. He chose the most discreet parts of tracks and found a way to make them incorporate them verry well. The first one alone is a prime example.
You know a producer is amazing at sampling when you don't even recognize that the beats they made was a sample on the first listen, this is what differentiates producers like RZA from the other producers
there are a lot of people saying at some point he lost his touch... yeah, kinda... but back in the early to mid 90`s he made bangers only! a time time old heads, like us, would refer to as the golden era... when everything about a hip hop song had to be golden... masterful... i put him after premier before dilla...
My man's just built different. Lucky for the rest of us. This shit has to been soundtrack to my life, now I'm 50 and still rocking this classical hip hop. Peace !
and so many other amazing beats! My GOAT at his peak. Others have had way more longevity, but RZA produced 95% of like 5 or 6 of my top 10 albums and none of the weaker stuff he's done later will change that for me
@@soramirez5473 i know. I didn't say he doesnt have longevity. I was saying some other producers may have have had longer periods of sustained greatness. But to me nobody can touch those first few years of the Wu, when he was really focusing all of his energy into the music. He would have been even more dominant if it wasnt for those damn studio floods.

RZA’s sampling techniques and ear is second to none. He is truly an artist of the highest order. Absolutely amazing!

Truly a great but second to none? Na my guy, Dj Premier takes that spot along with 5 or 6 others before Rza, he's up there but not the GOAT

The RZA is a top 5 producer of all time. He was ahead of his time with the beats and programming.
Ahead of his time? I swear yall don’t know what that means

The whole Afro Samurai Soundtrack is pure art.
Can only imagine how amazing Inspectah Decks album would have been if Rza never lost all those beats in a flood.

This is a little hill I’ll die on, but RZA was the best producer when it came to story. His beats were always perfect for the song.
