    That was great! I hope that when he's all grown up, the little guy remembers at least glimpses of the time his parents took him to the top of a mountain, and down again. A very enjoyable video... just like being there!

      And if he doesn’t we can always show him this video and hold it over his head for the rest of his life 😂 just kidding, I would never do that.

    Crazy props taking your little man all that way!
    Two suggestions for the next hike:
    - Dehydrated food
    - Hiking poles for walking down the slippery slopes.

      Haha jokes. Those are great ideas I’ll remember for 30 years from now, when I’m ready to hike again 😂

    What an epic hike, and so awesome having such an accessible mountain experience. Carpark about 760m altitude, up to the hut at 1800m,so 1km vertical, with a baby!

    Good effort! This is our favourite hut! We go every time we're in the South Island. Our first year we had to turn back because the weather got bad. The second year, we had to try again :) It was quite the climb, but we made it! It was so worth the effort. We had 3 kids at the time, one of which we carried. The next time we went down to the south island, we had baby #4. Our kids really wanted to go back to the hut, so we did. I think they really like to play in the snow up there. Be sure to check out the Hooker Hut. It's such a cute little hut in the same area. We did this one in the winter and it was perfect!

      It was an incredible hike! He’s getting almost too big to carry. Good job doing it with several little ones! We will need to take him in more hikes as he gets bigger so he can do them without the carrier. So many huts!

      @@Becca.Loveless There are SO many huts! I didn't even realize they had so many for the longest time. They are so nice for families because you don't have to pack as much gear.

    Carrying a load up and down a hill is pretty torturous stuff. A companion introduced me to the idea of walking staffs, from her European experience, which I'd never tried as I'd always been carrying a rifle. They are a really good idea and a huge help in all sorts of ways. ESPECIALLY going up and down. I just cut a bit of pseudopanax - Lancewood, for the perfect straight strong staff.

    Nice journey guys, I was just wondering were you oxygen deprived up there, I know people who do the Swiss/Italian mountains complained about getting sunburnt and not being able to brieve and yet the views seem the same, anyway love your videos Becca glad yous conquered Mueller hut🥰

    • @Becca.Loveless
      @Becca.Loveless  2 роки тому +2

      Did they just get here from Europe? We didn’t really notice a huge oxygen level difference but maybe because we’ve been here long enough we’re fully acclimated. I know flying from Texas to Utah and trying to hike there is terrible because the air is so much thinner 😂
      And we wore lots of sunscreen our whole trip so no sunburns for us!

      @John NZ mountains are not as high as some European ones. The Mueller hut is 1800m above see level. High Altitude is usually above 2400m.
