I just made a sour dough starter the other day. Made one a few years ago that failed. I don’t remember what I did wrong the first time but I do remember measuring everything. This time around I’m just going by feel and it is flourishing. It’s so easy to make and maintain. I also cook with the discard so nothing goes to waste.

Hi Becca, love what you are showing and I relate a lot to your living and ways. Stay at home mom and budgets a lot. I have recently started to replace some of my items (pans for example- coated non stick with steel or cast iron) and it’s not to be more eco, but to be healthier for us as a family with young ones. Same with plastic. The idea is to discard of toxins and to get once of items to last a lifetime. My latest addition is a cast iron pan which is guaranteed to last at least 100years, so I can pass it down to my kids. That’s my reasoning for replacing items these days, for health reasons number one and for longevity. Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿

I don't understand if my scale is broken or what! But I did your ingredients exactly and there wasn't anywhere near enough water in the dough that I had to keep adding water before I could even get all of the dry mixed out of it. It's still too dry, but I guess we'll find out with the stretch and folds... this is my first attempt at sourdough so I will keep you posted. Using your recipe is a huge leap for me

My favorite beets recipe is boil beets "just engouh water to cover half of it " , lebnah " creek and regular works just fine " , lemon , garlic , tahini and salt and paper The best . Make sure to add the water that you used for boiling.

Beets are very good for you and naturally regulate blood pressure. ❤

It’s not messy

Borsh is very popular in Russia, I cook it with beats, cabbage, kinney beans, potatoes, carrots+some tomato paste. Best borsh is on beef stock. And we bake small garlick buns to eat with borsh, they are called pumpushki.

Beet make great taco “meat” are amazing in fried rice and also make delicious steam buns. I LOVE beets!

My oma would sometimes shred her pickled beets too and we all really liked them. Easy to throw into things.

Hello Becca, you can also bake a chocolate and beetroot cake or beetroot risotto!

Squeeze cooked beets and the skin slips off smoothly. Slices of cooked beets make a lovely bread and real butter sandwich. Plain or dressed with vinegar and sugar. I made a salad with beets and corn dressed with sweetbchilly sauce. Did you see canned beets in NZ? Whole, plain or crinkle cut, diced, pickled or plain

I wanted to ask you since I have a small cast iron, I have left it to proof in the fridge for 37 hours, but since the pot is small I will have to divide it, should I let it rest again?
