    Fantastic design! I just bought your model on CGI Trader (for the arm), and am glad to see you have the model for the arm control there too. Well worth the price!

    @ 6:57 Just when you were thinking ..“Huh, it’s long to having to put it all together, test it, then take it all apart again for painting.” The guy only goes and makes a whole stop-motion segment of him putting it back together again! Flawless.

    Fantastic work!
    BTW. In case you're interested, the paint they used for the endoskulls, for Terminator Salvation, is Alclad Chrome II (2). It looks like real chrome! I don't know if they used the same paints for the rest of the skeleton. I think they did variations of stainless steel and chrome looks, to prevent it looking too plastic. -Stan Winston School of Character Arts has a video showing how they painted the skulls. (It costs money, but it's worth it.)

  • @davidsirmons

    I've obsessed over such a robot hand for decades. Those micro hydraulics, though they are are a real thing hobbyists can buy today, are entirely to small to exert any real pressure when divided by the long force contact point VS the pivot/fulcrum. The best place for maximum pressure would be the back of the hand, or some internal wire method linked to positive moving hydraulics/servos.

    • @antsinafrica
      @antsinafrica  8 років тому

      Very true. The leverage angle is terrible for strength on the original T800.
      In reality , based on the design, he would probably not have been that strong.
      My next hand will be an eNable hand using everything I learned from this and input from viewers.
      So thanks for the input! Makes one really appreciate the human hand, doesn't it.

    • @davidsirmons
      @davidsirmons 8 років тому

      Indeed! I've been working on a heavy duty exosuit system for the last few days in 3ds Max. Here's a couple quick screencaps...
      img4.imagetitan.com/img.php?image=15_hand1.jpg
      img4.imagetitan.com/img.php?image=15_hand2.jpg
      I've designed a full shoulder/upperArm/Elbow assembly, utilizing rotating hydraulic systems. It seems linear hydraulics and a fully mobile shoulder joint are not harmonious....

    • @davidsirmons
      @davidsirmons 8 років тому

      Not sure why imageTitan links aren't working. I asked them, we'll see.

    • @antsinafrica
      @antsinafrica  8 років тому

      +davidsirmons Aah, I can see them now. Wow! Good work!
      Your design moves all the complicated stuff to the back
      of the hand and out of harms way. It also has plenty of leverage.
      Cool organic feel to it to!. I would love to see it in action.

    • @davidsirmons
      @davidsirmons 8 років тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback. I've got a long way to go on it. Working on the thumb process off the palm now. As this is super heavy duty, and an exosuit meant to be 'worn' by a human, it won't have the same delicate articulation as the human hand. There are parts and circular hydraulics for the shoulder axes and elbow, not shown in those images, with fully designed inner function as well. In a few days I'll have more progress to show. At that point, I'll move on to the pumps/motors/transmissions I plan on using for movement.

      money is a useless material that is not usable by the body and is only coveted because of the implication of value in reality modern money is worthless to the body and worthless financially as its reproducible and is only used (and was only invented) due to the greed of mankind.

    • @antsinafrica
      @antsinafrica  2 роки тому

      Hi, I haven't been getting notifications, so I have missed a bunch of questions. It's purely for display, so it's not strong, but the strings are attached to the small shafts in the hand "pistons" when the string is pulled, it pulls the shaft and the finger attached to it. When released, the spring pulls it straight again.

    Good afternoon, I repeated your work by printing it on a 3d printer, I can't register on the site yet to leave a review there. It is clear what you did with drusha, but unfortunately, as for me, it turned out badly. The levers for the fingers connecting different phalanges of the fingers are very thin, especially where the h is divided into 2 parts, there are no grooves in the fingers under the axes from the levers, from which if they stick out even by 0.2 millimeters, the scheme no longer works, you have to make them shorter on the contrary, and given that the lever in one place is so nowhere thinner on each finger, there is a catastrophe there at any load

      Sorry for the late reply.
      Strange to hear this? Mine still works fine, but it is due for an upgrade because it was my first big design and I have improved my methods substantially. I had better start work on the upgrade asap. :-)

    Hey folks, currently in progress... a fully functioning robot hand with the same range of motion as a human. User aprilk on thingiverse!

    Awesome One....Your Design,Editing And Explanation Are So Great...But I Have A Doubt On The Movements Of Fingers....Made a Arm Fully But The Fingers Are Not Moving Exactly Like Your Design Did..Can You Plz Explain It Or Give A Blueprint Or Something..Thx

      Yeah, it's not the easiest thing to make. Mine still works great though?
      I probably owe everyone a step by step build video. But until then, if you
      send pics to my gmail, I'll may be able see what the problem is?

      Yeah But Pics Cant Help You Figure Out The Problems,Mine Is Fully Differ From You,I Have Used Full Mechanism In It,But It Doenst Work At All,And Then I Saw The Finger Movement Concept In Your Video,The Exact Concept I Have Been Searching For Weeks,Then I Made Some Fingers Like You But It Broken When I Pulled The Trigger......Can You Help Me With A Link Or A Quick Video..Thx

    I am interested in making a robotic arm and I am trying to figure out how your finger movement mechanic works based on that drawing and I think I get it. Is doing it that way better than just running a string through the finger to the top segment and pulling on that to close the finger?

      Exo Warlock - I designed it like that to limit the wires required to operate it.
      The fingers also bend uniformly due to the levers and the springs provide the force to open the hand.
      It's similar to how they made the prop in the first movie.
      I'm not sure how it will translate to a practical working arm though?

      Anthony Williams Ok thanks for explaining, I just loved the way the fingers looked compared to other robot arms or prosthesis I have seen. Great video btw it's nice to see it so well developed and edited.

    Love the video man I'm doing my own 3D print of it right now and I was wondering what did you use for the metal rods that control the fingers

      Thanks! 👍
      I used an old stainless steel car aerial, but aluminum would be a way easier option!
      If I made this now, I would use aluminum so a tiny hole could be drilled for the spring to attach to.
      And also so it can be easily cut, sanded and polished to fit.
      I hope it all goes well!
