Thank you so much for giving the masses free education! I'm a beauty school dropout with chronic illness. I cut my own hair just because it's physically too hard to get into the salon. Your videos have made my life so much easier!! I appreciate your tips for students/practicing hairdressers too - like what kind of mannequin heads you use. Practice makes better beauty! 💕

THANK YOU for teaching that the strong line helps strengthen the cut, and you can STILL give it lots of movement, without shattering the crap out of the structure. I like to razor cut, too, but this just confirms to the client, WHY regular cuts are important for keeping a style looking fabulous. This is just as loose, free and sexy, and really an easy cut to follow.

I'm with you 100% on the base being more solid. It gives a much more organized feel to the cut while not being too rigid. The combination of layers and blunt ends is bomb! Thanks for the video.

You've got an excellent modern cultural point. My BRILLIANT parents had a vague idea who they were ONLY bc 1) relations of the lawyer father(OJ trial) & 2) Kim for trashy sex video.
NOT knowing about Kardashians is TRULY a badge of intellectual honor during these crazy global (political, philosophical, spiritual & economic) times which demands that wise healthy people prioritize their time & focus to produce good outcomes for their families & lives!

Thank you so so much for this video! Honestly I was dreading to go to the salon because most people that work at those places here make you feel like you're a defendant in court and that you're guilty by default but you gotta go through the interrogatory anyway and the worst thing is that they don't even know how to cut hair and have the nerve to charge after that. Lucky for me I found your video and it's so well done my Mom cut it for me and it looks awesooome!!! Great instructions, great quality of video, love you Matt, you saved my hair :)

Wow. You don't even know how grateful I am to have found this channel. Not only do you cover some of the basics I learned in hair school, but really how to properly apply those basics, such as shape of the head in relation to cutting lines. Not to mention this particular haircut, which I have actually stressed a bit to myself while browsing pinterest and seeing this haircut again and again that I wouldn't quite know how to get it just right if a client requested this.

Thanks Matt for deconstructing the haircut and showing it step by step, very helpful! I have two haircuts that I am curious about, one is the Rachel (Jennifer Anniston's character on Friend's) and the second is how to properly taper a man's neck line like a barber. Thanks for helping us out in the field, it is very, very much appreciated.

I know you have a specific way that you section hair that seems slightly different in almost every video but Im having a hard time retaining all of them.I know you explain your reasons for the partings before each cut but If you could do one video with a rundown on how you go about choosing which sectioning to use I could write them down and categorize it in my brain better.. hope that makes sense and again thanks so much for the education. Yes, as someone who also has thick wavy hair, this style is great for our hair type. You just won't need to style it as much as he does with the mannequin head. You can try the style at a longer length at first to get a feel for it and then go shorter when you feel more comfortable with it.

Hey matt! I showed this video to a hairdresser and asked for this cut last year, but she started pulling sections upwards and just cutting deeply and vertically. It looked good when damp but when it dried it was just too grunge and messy. I waited a year and went to another salon. I asked to remove bulk and create a A line lob with some movement like this but the hairdresser didn't want to remove weight from my hair . The thing is that i have loads of thin bleached hair, and it gets super frizzy puffy mega triangular shape if I do not blow dry and flat iron or style with a wand (which I want to evade, because hey I do not want to be a bully applying heat to my platinum hair). I have a Massive amount of hair in the back and sides. Would this work for my thin bleached hair? What should i tell to my hairdresser to get this right? Most of the times communication is the key!! Thank you so much for your videos!! I just can't stop learning from them!
