This information saved my life! I lived with lower back pain for years and it only kept getting worse after each doctor visit. Medication wasn't helping and the constant pain really affected my mood. I definitely stopped socializing because of the pain and it was really taking over my life. These exercises immediately relieved most of my pain. I am sure there are more stories like mine out there which you haven't heard. Thanks for doing what you do brother and please keep doing it because you're changing lifes.

I’m a combat veteran, served 8 years in the Marines, and multiple deployments to Iraq. After coming home I’ve tried everything from chiropractors, message, and acupuncture for my lower back-pain. None of them helped for more then a couple of weeks. I’ve added in your stretches and exercises into my workout warmup, and 90% of the pain and discomfort I’ve been dealing with has been elevated. Thank you for putting these videos out man!

This finally allowed me to do squats and deadlifts. I went through 3 years in the army infantry with tight power back and was miserable because I didn't understand how to stretch. Thankyou for unlocking fitness for me.

This is awesome, someone who understands there's more than just weak muscles within the body. My only tweak would be to release the QL before stretching. This way you can get rid of trigger points that could be keeping the muscle tight. And then when you stretch it, it would be even easier.

    Hey Trevor!
Been benefiting from your channel for years (thank you, btw). Time to give back. So insects typically don't run across the room (into the open where they can be eaten). They prefer to follow the baseboards. So to mitigate the scorpion problem, by getting some Roach Motels n place em along the baseboards. They crawl in but can't crawl out 'cause they get stuck in the glue. PRO TIP: once they have a few "guests" in em, turn em upside down. The "ceiling" now becomes the new "floor" with glue on it. At least they used to. Start with one per room 'cause the scent in those traps stinks like beef bullion. And QUIT LEAVING YOUR DAMN SHOES/ CLOTHES ON THE FLOOR! ;-)

Thanks for this! I'm continuously nursing my QL's... Long story short I slept wrong for decades, drove wrong for decades (Left ass cheek up on side bolster a little bit).
Finally blew out my left QL moving 5,000 lb of firewood three different times (bend lift twist, bend lift twist action).
Never had so much pain. Finally found somebody to work on it properly, with a super deep type of myofascial release. Took a couple years to regain my posture and strength.
New sub here... Merry Christmas to you.

I have power lifted for 20yrs and I failed to stretch ever. In my 30s it began to be my demise. I started having deep and in ways debilitating pains. Some X-rays and MRIs revealed it was always muscular. Essentially I was destroying my body and causing old man aches. I coach high school football and wrestling and I was the typical coach who would tell of stories of when I was mobile and athletic. Well once I realized the 20yrs worth of error of ways, I tried stretching and watched videos and nothing seemed to work which only caused me to give up stretching. Brother, your videos have changed my life. I mean it, sounds a bit extravagant I know. But the neck pains I had for 8 straight years since doing nothing but power lighting while on military deployment, and the bicep tendon pain that prevented me from lifting my hand above my shoulder, began to limit my mobility to the point of port quality of life. I started getting those headaches caused by the tight traps, which started off only on occasion but grew to one every 3 or 4 days. They felt like migraines and caused me to get up out of bed at 3am at times because sleeping caused the headache to get much worse. My point is, your videos discussing alleviating lower back pains, shoulder pains, neck pains, and tearing the muscles away from the areas they are restricting, literally changed my life. So yes please continue to create these videos, I’ve begun to tell other coaches and my athletes about your videos and how to maintain physical health while training like a professional athlete. My athletes certainly aren’t professionals but my wrestlers train like college wrestlers for sure. My son is a high school state finalist and a Greco Roman state champ, my daughter is a girls folkstyle and Greco high school state champ and both kids are freestyle state finalists. The high school team I coach had 7 state placers and a top 5 team finish before Covid hit. So we train like a college room, and I warn the athletes to avoid following my footsteps of competing at a high level but never treating my body as the vessel that allowed me to do that. Anyways I cannot thank you enough for these videos. It’s not just the info delivered, it’s how you deliver it that makes sense. So please continue to make these!!!!

Im a pt of 30 years and whenever i find a painful QL I always check the contralateral glute medius for weakness. They co-contract during gait and when 1 is weak , the other usually compensates and becomes overworked / strained. Just a tidbit

Trevor, thanks! Part of the reason the QL can go into spasm is lack of thoracic flexibility and weak hips. The low back tries to accommodate by being both strong and flexible but it will never be as flexible as the t spine or as strong as the hips. Any discussion of low back pain should address fundamental "chest up" posture. T spine and hip work. Love your content; use your stuff all the time.

I don’t know who you are but I owe you a debt of gratitude. For real. I would wake up with really bad lower back pain on my right side to the point it was difficult to walk. Yoga helped but it would take roughly 30-60 min to get measurable relief. Just doing the stretches and “scorpion spray can” (I used a tampered glass water bottle) gave my back almost instant relief in about 5 min. This is a game changer for me and for the naysayers, I’ve been doing these suggested exercises for almost a week and they work every single time. Thanks Smashrx person.

I've been experiencing a tight QL for the last four years and the pain would radiate towards my right thigh.
I went to a neuro for this and they prescribed physical therapy (electric stim, heat, and core/glute/ham exercises) and meds. It eventually became too expensive and I felt it wasn't addressing the root of the issue, so I dropped the treatment and instead focused on improving my biomechanics and tried yoga and strength training.
My x-ray showed a raised right hip, lower right shoulder, and bent spine.
I believe you just explained the root cause of my condition, which is what I have been looking for. You are a lifesaver.

This Guy is no joke ALL his techniques REALLY works ...... I could not innerstand what ppl was saying that you have to have muscle connection. You cannot have it if you are not doing the exercises correctly to be able to feel the muscles working. I Hate doing anything that’s does not work. With his techniques you will feel it that day and feel the difference the next day and even the rest of the week. My Hero for LIFE !!!!!! P.S. Also now I see why I was not very successful in body building I’m a hardgainer but the techniques and workouts was allllllll wrong. SMH

I had low back pain for years. Sometimes it was excruciating shooting pain through my hips and legs. I got the hiphook from Athena and stretched my psoas and iliacus with it and it changed my life. No longer a life of chronic low back pain. These stretches look great too. My psoas and illacus were tight and pulling my hips out of alignment. Similar concept of the pso-rite.

I had chronic low back/butt pain for 10 years including butt spasms after ART that I tried everything to resolve IMS, physio, ART, Chiro, nerve root block, traction, Botox in piriformis, except for therapeutic massage, then in addition to QL massage I had gluteus minimus and medius massaged. I think lying on a saggy couch as well bends the whole QL so I try to rotate from side to side. Also my therapist said sleeping with one leg out like a frog is problematic.

Then one side pulling more because it's been shortened, my right side locks up so bad during KB swings, squatcleans, deadlifts, etc. I hate it because I cant grow with my barbell technique with these limitations. FYI: FROM 20 Years back and hip pain experience: Sudden low back/sciatic pain at a young age which is not treated correctly for whatever reason - [I was 16 year old doing two apprenticeships] - leads to uncertainty, confusion, loss of routine, loss of inspiration, exhaustion, improper diet, opiate addictions, abuse of alcohol and so on... A secondary condition to it is Arthritis in the pelvis/hip because of leaning to the "good side" to avoid the painful one.
All of which becomes sub conscious then waking depression via passive laziness, which is well founded at the time: Over enough time, because of a lack of resources or professional help to fix the problem [mental and physical] it leads to acceptance or believing the problem cannot be fixed:
Coupled with an unhealthy lifestyle, but not by conscious choosing, these situations manifest in being slightly over weight, which becomes morbidly overweight and completely out of touch with reality, yourself and your own capabilities: The weight is not even an issue to you as it creepss up so slow, you dont think its connected to the pain. Alas, you begin to feel strange or disconnected in a world where everyone "seems normal" but you:
To finalize, from 1993 when I first hurt my back Bricklaying and site Labourer, I am now almost free of Osteoarthritis and chronic back pain due to losing a lot of weight from Feb 2020 [94 lbs thus far from FASTING and Exercise] All my long term back and hip pain through my experience will be gone soon: My BMI is now 23.5 and when my BMI is at 22 or thereabouts, this "curse" will no longer have a hold on any part of my body or psyche.
From observation of myself and others who still have it, the pain has been down to not dealing with the initial cause of the pain because of a lack of knowledge resulting in being overweight not in shape, thus creating an circle of suffering in your own life via short term pleasures to escape it:
IF YOU HAVE PAIN AND YOUR BMI IS NOT GOOD; YOU NEED TO ADDRESS THIS RIGHT AWAY AND WORK WITH THE PAIN TO GET RID OF IT: PUT THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS INTO YOUR BLOOD AND YOU GET GOOD RESULTS - OVER TIME:
Might take 24 months but those 24 months are coming to pass whether you like it or not: EXTREME FASTING, DRIVEN BY PAIN REDUCTION HAS BEEN THE BEST MEDICINE EVER FOR ARTHRITIC PAIN AND SCIATIC PAIN: Good Luck...

I was paralyzed for 10 days in 1984. I recovered to a large degree. I have more nerve damage on the left side than the right and more specificity on the left side than the right. I can confirm that this imbalance has caused me to live with almost constant low back pain.
