Hey Brad, I've always had a interest in finding things in the woods, I've never had a metal detector, but I soon plan on buying one, your videos have re-sparked my interest in roaming the woods searching for stuff...keep up the good work.

What is making everyone in Vermont loose their buttons? I love Vermont. We have been there twice and wish to go back but as they say "we are not in charges of our future plans, God is. I was going to work a couple of so years and then resign my Nursing position. Two years before I was going to resign I collapsed due to disease in my back. Can't seat for very Long or walk more than 5 minutes and down I go and there is no earthly way I can get up. Any way I love the houses, everything about Vermont. I live in the great mountains of Georgia. If you was ever down here we have about 2 miles of wooded area behind our house. This area was a big Civil War area. Several battles were known to be around here. They cut all the trees for lumber . Lot of leaves in there. Well nice finding you on your video. Be careful out there and don't go in some of those places by your self.

We all love old coins and the people that settled there probably loved their home it's so nice.
They like us probably took old family stuff with them.
I have ancient stuff in my home and watching this thought would people find my stuff and think I was from the stone age because of my stuff 🧐

Very nice finds Brad. The George III Half Penny reconfirms the site and gives a 50 year window. George III came to the throne in 1760 and his son was declared Regent in 1810. In the end George III was known as Mad George, suffering a physical disease that caused Dementia. Seeking permission with a bit of adult beverage is an old hunters trick, it often brings smiles form the land owner. Thank you for sharing my friend :-))

Didn't know that I'd have the opportunity to use your "sand paper" method on a coin. Dug a very chunky copper today and used 150 grit fine sand paper to remove the accretions on the high detail points. Result is that the coin is able to be identified - a 1760 Voce Populi half penny, my oldest coin.

Question for you: In your opinion, do you think that a lot of the artifacts you find scattered about those old homesteads were caused by fire in the structures?
Do you find evidence of this on some of them?
I'm envious of your soil there. You can sink an E tool into the ground a good distance! Here in E TN, you're lucky to dig 4 inches down and then hit red clay.
    Lovely country up that way!

Thanks! I’ve yet to find any, but I know there are folks who have permission to the same fields who look exclusively for points and are successful!

@@GMMD I thought maybe so but you can get so many effect these days I was wondering. Guess you're using a glass slide too? Would love to see more band excerpts worked into your videos. In fact, that'd be funny to see an intro of some gorgeous scenery, the music fades in, the camera pans and THERE YOU ARE jamming! LOL. Guess that would take too much to set up but would still be amusing. Good luck on your digs!

Is it harmful to place coins in a salt and baking soda solution to remove the crud? It is the way I clean them.
