- Violence in major cities is inevitable. Large populations, mixed socio-economic levels, government mistrust, decreased funding, etc. has led to the exponential violence in Chicago. As a Chicagoan, I felt it necessary to discuss the violence experienced in Chicago in 2016. Is the city perfect? No! Is the city beyond repair? No! Violence in Chicago, while at an all time high, does not and should not take away from the beauty that is Chicago.

💕💕🙏 this was so well done 👏👏👏 you hit everything on the head thank you girl for using your platform to show what Chicago is truly about not what the media wants to portray I know our family friend just lost her baby brother right before NYEs to a senseless gun crime coming home from a dance competition & he was only 19 went to urban prep and was a youth mentor at Donda House inc. & kidz connect it was so sad how the entire hood operation has changed Dailey had better control over the gangs Raham is a disgrace to the city the dope boys used to tell us to go inside too on the Westside when it was about to go down it's really chaos today it's so sad & that's a reason channels like this one & about traveling started by ppl from Chicago is so important it lets little kids from around the way know there's more than L town, K town or the wild hundreds it's so sad and so hard to talk about trust me I KNOW this was hard for you to make sis I could see you nearly loosing it at the end because you love Chicago so much your home pride is evident girl it's going to be okay I'm praying everyday girl sorry for this long comment I'm just proud you said something is all #respect you never forgot where you came from 🙏
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It's senseless and if I had the answer/remedy I would do whatever to fix this problem. We just have to keep our hand on the pulse of our city and do what we can with what we have. There is hope.

All I hear about Chicago is that it is no place you want to visit. That you'll get robbed or you will get killed because it's so bad out there. I use to want to visit and see what's good in Chicago but I've been advised not to. 😔
It's upsetting that people have tried to dissuade you from visiting especially because tourism brings money into the city. Cities with large urban pockets have their issues but people still go to NYC, ATL, LA, DC, Memphis, etc. Think about it their is crime happening internationally everyday but we rarely hear about it because we live in the states.
You are probably listening to people who have never experienced Chicago. I went in July and stayed a month, my sister lives on the east side and I didn't have one issue not one. Fear and ignorance will keep people frozen in time. See for yourself, you have no reason to be in the criminal area when you are a tourist. Just to let you know......Chicago does not have the highest crime rate, Google it. I hope you get a chance to chill on the lake it's beautiful or eat the great food!
One guy was a co-worker of mines from Chicago. He told me that's not somewhere I would just want to visit.

I agree with you I am from the low end and later moved to the east side and I get tired of telling people how the media has created and continues to perpetuate the violence. All of the old gangstas got locked up and it left a void of direction in the streets these children Ave cliqued up and they are desperate to get a name or money I can't say I blame especially with schools and programs gone. I always have to end the conversation with talking about how we have beaches even on the south side. the boats downtown it is beautiful and rich with culture. yes there was honor in the streets. you are 💯 on everything. I will refer everyone that thinks they know Chicago violence to this video. Low end love 35th-47th my family is from Stateway, Dunbar, Phillips high school granny from 39th.
