    A like and a ‘cool Dad’ comment for having the patience to let the kids help.

      Thanks for watching!! I’m not always a “cool dad” but when I am, it’s while we assemble guitars 😂

    Thats a nice looking V man! and you are right those Roswell pickups sound very good.
    I got into the pickup swapping game and then I started fiddling with my EQ pedal if I wasn't happy with the pickups and 9 times out of ten I get the tone I am happy with, I have noticed that changing out the pots for better quality ones can make a massive difference, I have put CTS ones in a few Harley Benton guitars, but like you I had to route out the cavity, I 3D printed the template but I had to cut around the poly clear coat with a scalpel so that it didn't crack, Thats a stressful job, so the last time I came across a small cavity I got some good quality Korean 500K Alpha pots that are pretty good.
    I always wanted a Les Paul with a V headstock , for the straighter strings, I guess I will have to buy a V and an LP kit and swap the necks around as long as they are compatible.

    Man, that thing turned out great! Really dig a red V and it sounds great too. No need to be jealous of the kids anymore! lol. Glad everything ended up working out for you in the end!

    I watched all the way thru to the end! And I've been watching guitar building videos, because I'm thinking about building my own guitars. So from my point of, a 20 minute guitar build video is more insightful than a 5 minute video.
    By they way, as someone who started playing the guitar back in 1988, I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and full that guitar sounded!! Great job on the build!!
    🤘😁🤘
    Keep doing what you're doing,
    🤘😁🎸🎶

    Looks like the one I made, the body needed routing out to fit the pots. Mine was a body neck only build as well. I used same pickguard and had to drill for the bridge posts too. I was a lot of fit and fix to get it together, but it turned out great in the end. I was using up spare parts, I think we had the same idea, ha ha. I did Nitro paint, yellowed white for a 1970's look.

    • @Sean_Plays_Guitar
      @Sean_Plays_Guitar  2 місяці тому

      Very cool! Nitro is probably the way to go. I am just nervous about using it based on lack of experience but I think I will have to try it on my next build, whenever I do another one. Thanks for checking it out!

    I currently have an old Cort flying V. The neck is coming loose, and the laminated body is starting to delaminate. It came with active pickups factory and someone put a Kahler tremolo on it. I'm about to try taking the set neck off and gluing the neck and body. If that fails, I'm thinking about one of these kits to put the electronics and the tremolo on.

    • @Sean_Plays_Guitar

      Indeed, sir. These kinds of kits are really great for rehousing old parts for not a ton of money. Thanks for watching!

    10/10 job. Looks great and i love the little blonde patch on the neck. The headstock may need something gloss black though and a white truss cover but sometimes i want people to know like "i built this actually". It doesnt matter to me whats on the headstock, just the quality of the guitar. Did you have to check neck alignment or anything with the glue in?

    • @Sean_Plays_Guitar
      @Sean_Plays_Guitar  5 місяців тому

      I did check ahead of time. It probably could have used a bit more back tilt on the headstock angle but it played pretty darn well anyhow. Thanks for checking out the video. And I agree! A little character never hurt anything 😂

    bro those roswells sound amazing in the v. i personally love roswells i have a set of active roswells in my harley benton ex 84. passives in my harley benton dc custom i did a review on my channel
    . i noticed you have the dc 600 hanging in the back ground. you like it? also where did you get the kit. i have a black beauty coming in from pango. kind nervous its my first build lol

      First - Thank you for watching!
      Second - THe DC 600 is f*kin LEGIT. Buy one.
      Third - I got the kit on Amazon there is a comment below asking for the link and I dropped it in there.
      Fourth - Don't be nervous man. Go slow, roll with the punches, those Pango kits are WAY better than the one I bought so your build will probably turn out way better than mine LOL!
      Also I agree on the roswells. Way underrated. Fantastic pickups!

      DO it! It only took me say...like 2 weeks in total. It toke me, personally long because: life. But I would say if someone had time and tools, it wouldn't take longer than a week or two. Very fun and such a rewarding thing in the end. Playing it is a joy for me on several levels! I posted a link in one of the comments here. Let me know if you have any other questions! First of all...thanks for watching!
      Secondly...I bought this kit on Amazon. There are MANY options on Amazon in terms of how much of the guitar you need them give you (like if you need all the parts, if you want bolt-on or set neck, pre-drilled holes, etc.) My kit was just suuuuper bare bones but The link is below:
      www.amazon.com/dp/B09VCZGCYJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
      You can copy and paste that into your web browser and it should take you right to it! If you need more parts and want everything pre-drilled, I would suggest this one:

      I'm starting my build here ! Can I ask did you have any issues with the neck angle , did you need to shim or take any thing off the neck cavity or heel of the neck ?
      Cheers

      Dude, I honestly wish I would have taken the time to make sure it was perfect. Mine could use a little tilt in the reverse direction. It would have been slight but I would have been happy I did it. I would highly encourage you take that extra time that I neglected to and check that neck angle. Good luck man! Can’t wait to hear how it turns out!!

      Hey Ray! Thanks for watching man. That Gibson you bought sounds awesome! I have a 1978 Les Paul Deluxe that I love very much. The V plays really well. I had to go back and do a little extra routing on the pickguard around the bridge to get the action a little lower but other than that, I have zero complaints. I would definitely buy this kit again. The wood is really high quality and the neck pocket fit was excellent. I had a ton of fun making it. I know guitar playing and just being a guitar player in a world that bombards us with advertising and marketing can be tough, but love what you have and play the crap out of it, man! Take care!
