  • We get dropped in the middle of the WILD NORTH in a float plane by RED LAKE Outfitters in order to fish and catch and cook our way out! FULL PLAYLIST: tinyurl.com/ya...
    BOOK A TRIP!
    Red Lake Outfitters: www.redlakeout...
    Harlan: / solotripper
    In this first episode we set out by float plane, get dropped into the middle of Woodland Caribou, drop our lines and catch beautiful lake trout before settling into our lake side camp for the evening by tent!
    We include historical supplies including corn flour, animal fats, pemmican, and much more while making use of all the foraging we can muster to create wild historically accurate meals!
    We light fires using magnifying glasses, flint and steel!
    The sunsets are fantastic in the far North!
    Follow us as we portage our way through as Early Voyageurs and Courier des Bois.
    Jeremy (One Wildcrafter): / @onewildcrafter
    This whole trip takes place in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park where our objective is to catch and eat as many fish as possible including walleye, pike and of course, the most prized lake trout! We'll fish from a canoe, travel by historical portage routes and explore the deep unspoiled boreal forest.
    We travel in and around active forest fires, dodging as we go to get at our neat wild cooked meal! We cook fish over fire, tent, and paddle our way through Canada's most underused provincial park to enjoy world class fishing where almost every cast is a fish!
    We use all our skills to navigate the park, portage over rocky boulders and explore the wild north. We have to portage all our gear as we go!
    We'll get into wild edibles including blueberries, raspberries, bunch berries, wild currants and more!

    My major task for this week had nothing to do with the outdoors but I'm pretty proud. I've been a legal permanent resident of the United States since I was 2 years old. A couple months ago a began the journey to becoming a naturalized US citizen and yesterday I passed my interview and verbal/written test. Now I just have to patiently wait for my swearing in ceremony where I pledge an oath of allegiance to the US. Might not seem like a big thing to anyone who's never been an immigrant but it's a big deal for me. It also marks another item off my bucket list which means I've gotten two bucket list things completed so far this year. With a 50/50 chance of making it 5 years (and already 2 years into that) I'm not doing too bad!
    Anyways, you guys are doing a great job. I'm watching Jeremy's channel for his point of view too ;)

    Hi ya WB! I read ur comments, and 2 of them I thought WOW, really, 3rd one, I was like, huh, read ur reply of huh and laughed. Ur videos r perfect, b them short or long (it took 3x’s as long for me to watch due to bad reception, and i watched to the end) Beautiful place, I could do 9 days even longer, I love the quiet. That turtle sure appreciated those eggs, he/she came up close, u made a friend 😃, (speaking of turtles, what did Holden think of the shell u brought him)? that’s the biggest water filter I’ve ever seen, where’d Jeremy get it? Loved how u just dipped ur rice pot n lake without having to screen out debris, I need to learn more about widow makers, (I thought they had to be dead trees) but the one Jeremy fell had a lot of green? I’m trying to prepare my mind for eating fish eyes, can u tell me cooked this way the taste and texture? Lots of lakes around there, that’s cool not to mention I loved y’all’s clothing, love that style of shirt. Thank u

      @TheWoodedBeardsman  6 років тому

      The turtle came back for a few days, but disappeared, I think we filled it up! The turtle shell is still in Texas, but it's on it's way via Bob. The filter...well it's another story, it worked for a bit, then it didn't, ugh. The fish eyes....well, it's more like mush, except for something in the middle and is like a small marble, but not as hard.

    My property is in the Laurentians northwest of Montreal to the west of Mont Tremblant. "My" lake is not fished much. It is a private lake. Nobody lives within 10-15 miles. The fishing is spectacular. I was going to build a cabin there but life got in the way. The hunting there appears to be pretty good. Black bear and some deer. I haven't had the opportunity to scout my property for at least 30 years. It is just wilderness.
