  • Silver Dollar City held it's Grand Opening Ceremonies and media day for the brand new Fire in the Hole indoor roller coaster on March 27th, and we were honored to be invited to be a part. This is a look at our day- the fun, the festivities, the ride, and more, including a full onride video!
    A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
    Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

    i rode the ride last week during its soft open it definitely does justice to the original. the only couple little nit pick’s (in I mean little) I have personally was 1 some of the voice acting. 2. you can see the light from other scenes epically after the final drop if you look to your left. You can tell that SDC worked hard on making this ride special in I totally believe them.

      I agree with the voice acting. I think most of it is a little flat, though I do like the Baldknobbers voices (and the marshall shooting at Wiley). I also think the lines could be a little less cheesey, but overall I really like the new ride!

    Wow! Your son has matured quite a bit since the last video I saw him in. As for your daughter, I see lots of cats in her future. LOL

    My favorite thing about Silver Dollar City??? The pickle on a stick!!!! 😂😂😂. And of course, Fire in the hole. Once years ago, our ride got stuck right below the "boulders" falling on top of us. We sat there almost an hour before they got it moving again. But we all got pickles on a stick afterwards lol.

    It seems so much lighter than the old ride. Whenever I rode the old one I felt like I was in the pitch dark 90% of the time!

    Hey! Love your videos and the wealth of information you have shared over at SDCFans.
    I've been rewatching your Fire in the Hole videos to get hyped for an upcoming SDC visit and you mentioned in one of your videos that the new Fire in the Hole was suppose to have the old scenes that were removed back in the 80s (the right turn after the burning bridge, Baldknobber cave, cliff "drop"), but from what I have seen on the videos released from SDC and other ride thrus, it looks like the ride is following the layout that's the same as it was post-capacity cut. Do you know what happened?

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  8 днів тому

      More than likely me misunderstanding what was and wasn't being added. I thought that the layout at least was closer to what the original was pre-capacity cut. But what i thought were restorations of original scenes were actually a couple of new scenes based on the new characters.

    do you get wet on the last drop like the old fire in the hole?

    With Fire in the Hole now open at SDC, I’ve begun to wonder if it’s sister ride, Blazing Fury at Dollywood, might end up getting the same treatment, or a similar dark ride/coaster might be coming. It’s hard to say, but could very well come in the next few years.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  3 місяці тому

      Not likely. Blazing Fury actually had a major refurb a few years back. And it's building it's anywhere near the state of decay that Fire in the Hole's was. They had no choice but to close FitH. Not the same for BF

    • @TweetsieRailroader
      @TweetsieRailroader 3 місяці тому

      @@SirWillow Oh true, forgot about that! Still, I’d argue that the success of the new Fire in the Hole will likely influence something like it coming to Dollywood, whether in the form a refreshed Blazing Fury. or a new dark ride entirely.

    Is Dollywood redoing theirs also? Looked like a fun time

    • @SirWillow

      as far as I know, no plans. This was done because the ride building was nearing end of life and it had to be replaced.

    Thinks: awesome I can get my dad on this *sees drops and remembers him screaming about me no longer in the will on Slinky Dog* ok maybe not.
    Too bad because this looks so good.

      The drops are very small, and not intense in any way at all

      @@SirWillow I didn't think so either but it's nice to hear from someone who's been on it instead of a random Canadian girl's best guess.
