you are not the only one felt emotionals in "I AM". I cried when I listen to the song the first time. I cried every time I watched reaction videos to the song. I even cried again when I listen to your reaction. I don't know why I cried to this song. Even though this song has a rich, glamour and extravagant kind of feeling. The music itself just hits to my heart, I keep unconsciously cry every time I hear "I AM". Thank you for another of your reaction. I am so sad to hear that you have to take down the NMIXX dance practice, even though its one of my favorite of your analysis. Hope to see you again with another reaction. And keep having fun with your channel.
I agree, I never got this kind of feeling being emotional because of this beautiful song. very catchy at the same time. I felt chills as well when hear it the first time. it must be my SOTY 🎉
I have also felt similar emotional feeling like you. I don' t know what it was. also, I don't know from what part it comes. Maybe it could be something beyond the description.
I heard that it's "19s" cuz most of them are 19 or turning 19 soon. It feels celebratory of their age group, which goes along with the recent trend of younger concepts... but IVE does it tastefully. They're not trying to be older or younger, they're celebrating their age, their priorities and trends at that age... That's at least what I got from it. Excluding New Jeans, it feels like a lot of groups have recently gone SUPER young with their concepts, with friggin teddy bears and glitter etc, but this feels more authentic to me. With all that in mind, I feel like I get what they're going for with the word "Kitsch" in that sense. But I've listened to this MV like 30 times and still have YET to analyze/comprehend the lyrics 😅
I actually felt chills when they said “I hope you’d be someone’s dreams come true”. Idk how to describe the emotion is evoked in me. But it really touched something in me when they reminded me that I’m someone else’s dream come true. 🥹🥹🥹
Yes! What you said about 1st gen music is *exactly* how I felt (I grew up in Korea, and listened to 1st gen music in real time when I was very little). Wonyoung's part in the bridge especially... The message is so warm and encouraging. I can't remember the last time a girl group *title track* was about encouraging you ("You're someone's Dream Come True (another possible nod to 1st gen? 😄)" made me go 😢) in the general sense like this. The closest I can think of is SNSD's "Way to go" (not title track) and Kara's "Fighting" (OST). It made me very emotional and I teared up 😢. Definitely check out their B-sides. As an old school Kpop fan, I think you'll *really* appreciate Not Your Girl and Cherish.
I also felt emotional towards the end and I think it's because of how it sounds like IVE is ending, like they reached the top and what else to overcome? Other than sit back and relax and enjoy The music at the end is like the end of a show and saying thank you for supporting us throughout the year 😭
44 year old music fan here, (proof that life goes on even after the 4-0). I stumbled across kpop eight years ago, never too late to find new things or revisit old interests. Kpop itself has changed a lot in the last eight years, but in many ways it's the same as it's ever been. Sometimes a song has a message that resonates. I recently listened to CSR's Shining Bright and legit felt uplifted, like a was reminded of being a kid trying my best. Music is cool like that.
@@kokirisound3673 I've always been more into girl's groups than boy's groups. So I heard about them at that time but I preferred SISTAR from the same company ^^
I've (haha) seen a lot of reaction videos to I am and you are my favorite!!!! I get teary-eyed whenever I listen to this song...! I saw a lot of other reactors saying that Ive is flexing and so on and that is true to some extent but I feel like this song is more of an encouragement to other people. You write your own story even if it seems like a fantasy. You are on your way...! You will become someone's dreams come true and your days will seem like a dejavu of some perfect day one day..!! I love that you touched on the topic of this song!!
Same ... felt the same with I am, it's so powerful but at the same time especially near the end where the verse "I hope you'll be someone's dream come true" ...I almost teared up 😅
There is NOO WAY that you are 40!! Here I am literally thinking you’re in your 20s. I’ve always admired your hair, skin, and makeup. Hoping I’m as passionate with my hobbies as you are when I reach that age ❤❤❤
As someone who studied art history and visual culture in college, I was already familiar with the term "kitsch," and I really liked their approach to it. Basically the idea of "nineteen's kitsch" fits into the larger societal trend to dismiss whatever teen girls like as being in poor taste or cringey, solely because it's teen girls that enjoy it.
I know some people really didn't like Kitsch but honestly it's among my favorite songs from them. To me it feels like a great combination of "old k-pop"-style and "new k-pop"-style. The verses are very chill and vibe-y, what I've in my head called "the Newjeans Sound", but the chorus sounds like a 2nd or 3rd gen chorus, and I think it really works. 😁
Wow the same thing happened to me watching I AM for the first time. From the bridge onwards I always get VERY emotional. "Epicness" + "Anthem" sounds always get me... and the visuals help a lot (those spotlights wow...). I don't know if it's a nostalgia thing for me... I've just always loved "epic" movie soundtracks and I'm a fan of anything fantasy... It makes me feel epic myself?
"I'm on my wayyyyyyyy" sounds identical (to me) to a melody used in Ariana's song titled "get well soon". I've watched "I AM" so many times and it STILLS sticks out to me every time 😂
Personally the Producers and artists behind IVE made this for us 1st and 2nd Gen Stans 😅 The fans have become the Producers and im living for how IVE presented that vision.
im glad im not the only one who got so emotional about I Am. like it actually made me cry and i felt like i did back when i first got into kpop back in the day. and something about this song felt so first gen and it got me.
Songs like I Am is the reason I started listening to kpop. Pop songs that are so catchy and somehow emotional that they just grab you and won't let go until they're over. And then you press repeat.
Kitsch is one of those songs that you would have to get used to really fast for most people at least. For me, I immediately was hooked and I quite like it. It's different and it's not the typical IVE style, so they went for a more different approach with that song, which I can appreciate. I AM however, is one hell of a banger. I've (no pun intended) been jamming to that song since it came out, and it's so grandiose and amazing~ It's a song that I feel like I can picture myself listening to this in Vegas with all the lights shining in the background, flashing everywhere, especially when you blast this in your car. And not going to lie when the bridge for I AM come on, I got emotional for some reason, maybe because the instrumental sounded like that for me
Aging is beautiful. I know you'll join the 40s club with so much more insight and you'll be one of those people who only got stronger as you age. Love your channel.
My take on “19’s Kitsch” is that they are talking about any decade in the 1900’s…. So 19XX. They seem to show fashion trends from more than just the 90’s so I don’t think it’s just supposed to be the 90’s but I could be wrong. Either way the song BOPS. The high notes on “That’s my…” leading into the chorus on Iam give me goosebumps every time. Such a great song! I liked your take on the lyrics too! And as someone approaching 40 without shame myself, I love your message about that!
I feel the same about the bridge. It was very emotional for some reason to me. Like the way Wonyoung stood there alone in the dark looking at the city skyline. It just hit me.
11:00 I have seen that reaction from literally every single person watching the video. I don't know why but that just seems to hit _everybody_ that way.
Aging is blessing, i will turn 34 this June myself... I always feel gratefull for everything... And yes the song has powerful messages, "Thats my life" word really make me feel strong... And "you can be someone's dream come true" is full encouragement... I love I AM.
Hey Tina! First time commenting here. I don’t usually comment anywhere but just wanna let you know that I can’t believe you are turning 40, and you look beautiful and young. I am a fellow Asian Houstonian and I just turned 30 last year so I feel related to you and what you stand for. I turned 30 and I am way less insecure and more confident than my 20s even tho things could be hard or harder (adulthood 😢) Back to IVE, I enjoyed your reaction and can’t wait for them to release both dance practices and you reacting to them. I have been obsessed with I AM since released and it’s seriously becoming my favorite song, more than Love Dive.
They sounded like ABBA, if you’ve ever heard the band. Definitely gave me the feels. Also I know we’re here for the reaction and not to be thirsty but holy hell you look gorgeous in this video.
I’m a proud second/third generation fan… with some first generation built in… but I am really amazed by some of these fourth generation groups. IVE, New Jeans and Fifty Fifty each have blown me away and what is most remarkable is how each group hits me differently and yet somehow manages to make me feel like I’m back in the “old days” of Kpop. Some really amazing things are happening…. I am so excited to see what comes next.
I felt like a lot of reactors were misinterpreting the message of "I AM." Even from the first listen I thought the lyrics were saying something like "we were able to make it here, so can you" instead of flexing their success. This has to be one of my fav reactions to this album hands down, as well as my fav IVE era thus far.
Thank you so much for sharing your age. I'm not as brave as you but suffice to say I'm in my 40's. I noticed a few other comments who said they're also in their 40's. I think there are alot of us out there 😉 Psy was my first intro to Kpop and I missed the ship because it seemed almost comical. Please don't come for me haha But when the pandemic hit I came across 4Minute and 2NE1 and absolutely fell in love. Then of course I started following all the debuts. And I recently ordered my first fan membership for TEMPEST. Thanks again! ❤️🌞
Aaahsgwhgsgs..OMG!! I was waiting for your reaction!! I already know that you would feel the same...(I AM) bring me so many emotions and nostalgia like 1st gen 🤩😍✨😭😭😭
Royalty and those concepts really match with the image of the group, i kinda hoped for itzy to do something like that when i saw the photos for checkmate
When you say first gen Im thinking SES & finKL... Then came Rain, Big Bang, Wonder Girls, Girls Gen... But before all of Kpop, the only Asian boy band and girl group my parents listened to was Jpop in the 80s... In Korea in the early 2000s the Russian duo t.A.t.U was quite the hit throughout Asia as well , with that progressive Pop/Rock catchiness
When I first heard this song, I didn't know who it was by (I'm not really an IVE fan, was really only into 3rd gen groups). I honestly thought it was an old song that was by and older girl group like Girl's Generation or something. It felt very reminiscent of older KPop to me. Also, love how uplifting and heart-warming it is, even before knowing the lyrics. But yeah, for some reason with the lyrics it does make you emotional. Such an amazing song in all ways.
Idk this song got me emotional too, it brings backs memories, maybe not memories but the feeling of being young and in the 2010 pop dance hits era, It makes me feel care free and young, not struggling with money or mental health, just FREE! I miss this type of music, this song is something I'll keep close to my heart ❤ IVE did that 🥹 I'm definitely a Dive now!
that is nice to see from you :) and everyone takes it how they want , but what they really wanted to say with this is flex. we are rich we have a plane and kitsch is actually meant to be *itsch but they of course couldn't use that. i am a little sad they didn't dive more into the human development and evolving meaning like i first also thought. great video.
IAM: the bridge and most of the song really had a rly common melody bringing a lot of nostalgia, and it also has a really nice positive message, i think the song has a very emotional undertone kind of like 'one last time' by ariana grande
When kpop groups nowadays are leaning more on western type of music, ive is the face of KPOP in 4th gen. Their music is very KPOP, if that make sense. I like them so much.
I like them too but they have totally leaned on western music when they sampled a very VERY CLASSIC DISCO WESTERN song like I will survive. I think it's even their biggest hit.
Even though the lyrics say "Nineteens" I think it is Nineties. And it even sounds like it more than Nineteens. Could be wrong though. Love both songs but I'm so glad it was a night and day difference with Liz's line distribution. Went from famine to feast.
I misheard the lyrics in Kitsch and thought it was '90s' kitsch. I'm a 90s baby, so I think when I sing along I'm going to keep that as my head canon 😂
I am reading all this aging comments and I'm shook I thought you're 20 or so.... Wtf😮 you're aging super well I'm jealous haha and I'm 32. And I love your reaction on this. I literally cried when I heard I am for the first time 😂❤

nineteen is ive's average age grp and note that kim eanna, one of iu's lyricist was also the same person who's lyricist of i am that's why the song moves us.
in korea 20 is the legal age so as they end being teens, they will still be cool. and if they arent close to 20 basically no matter how much you hate them, as they get older, they will still grow and be popular. so being 19 is like the “moment.”
19 is the age of adulthood in Korea. Like 18 in the US. So I’m assuming it’s like a celebration of adulthood while still being in that youthful and experimental stage of life.
Hi Thinaa, i wonder if you will react/analyze their dance practice on I AM and Kitsch. I'm really curious but it's up to you too! Thank you and stay safee❤

Liz's single line in Kitsch is a crime in an otherwise great song. Fortunately, they make up for it in the rest of the album.
Nineteen is the group's average age.
I am is soty🙏🏼
Kitsch is epic too! So dark and interesting.
They are gonna get Aoty as well lol…..
Goty ggoty ❤️🥰
Went from famine to feast.
from the meaning i derived from “nineteen’s kitsch” was a play on words of “90’s b*tch”
I misheard the lyrics in Kitsch and thought it was '90s' kitsch. I'm a 90s baby, so I think when I sing along I'm going to keep that as my head canon 😂
I'm loving the shock everyone is in causes she's 40 😭 i got that same shock 3 years ago
someone said ninteen’s kitsch = nineties b**** and i can’t unhear it
I am reading all this aging comments and I'm shook I thought you're 20 or so.... Wtf😮 you're aging super well I'm jealous haha and I'm 32.
And I love your reaction on this. I literally cried when I heard I am for the first time 😂❤
I heard that 19 kitch is like 90s B word but idk.
NO SKIP ALBUM!!!!

nineteen is ive's average age grp and note that kim eanna, one of iu's lyricist was also the same person who's lyricist of i am that's why the song moves us.
Wtf I really thought u were in ur 20s. What a beauty
go ahead girl ur always 18❤❤❤❤❤its just numbers, the main thing is how do you feel inside urself yk!)))
in korea 20 is the legal age so as they end being teens, they will still be cool. and if they arent close to 20 basically no matter how much you hate them, as they get older, they will still grow and be popular. so being 19 is like the “moment.”
oot but the fact im Asian too but i tought youre in your mid 20th, u literally aged well beautifully gurll

40?!?!?! GIRL U LOOK YOUNGER THAN ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The original chorus was something like '... 90's b*tch', Starship changed it to 'nineteen kitsch' impliying a young woman unconventional style ...
YOU’RE 39?! I genuinely thought you were 30…🤯🤯🤯
I'm in my 50-something right now, and I think IVE is so previous after my being 7-years Once for TWICE.
My favorite is Kitsch side B and From I am is the 1,2,3 1,2,3 Fly up !!!!🙂👍
based from the song producer when she duet this on tiktok, the original lyrics says 90's btch but they change it to kitsch since its inappropriate
please do a billlie catch up i'm dying to see your reaction to their new stuff, they've released a lot of new things since you last reacted to them so plss
Someone said that nineteen's kitsch was supposedly "90's B*tch" but censored it
Ninteens: year 1990-1999 I think.
