I love the direction IVE is taking with their concept, every release they've had are so different from one another yet their initial elegant concept is always there. I AM made me cry several times, there's something so triumphant about this song, I don't really know what it is, but the last bit made me cry so much

the last chorus of I AM hits the deepest part in my heart. i have been replayed it many times and also cried for many times..
It's all about living our live and loving our self... The other song in the album really make a point... Like Heroine and Shine With Me lyrics just so self confidence but keep appreciated the help from other...
The more you listen through the song, the more it builds, and the more it makes you emotional, especially that final chorus when they just go all out.

You know, I wasn’t super feeling I Am as the title track until this reaction when I started paying attention to the lyrics. The lyrics are hopeful while also feeling nostalgic, and I think the lyrics are the centerpiece of this song more than the composition. Kim Eana was the lyricist and that explains SO much.
I think Liz’s line “strange view of somewhere I want to stay” is translated a little off but it’s a direct continuation of the previous lines. “You are someone’s dream come true, a deja vu of the most perfect day you can think of. I see an unfamiliar view of a place I want to go.” So she sees in her head a deja vu of a place she has dreamed of, and it’s a strange unfamiliar view bc she hasn’t actually gotten there yet. Genius

i feel the same way! sometimes it seems like k-pop lyrics are just a mush of whatever sounded nice in the songwriters head at the time, which could be a translation issue, but i am’s message and theme was very clear all throughout! it just makes the song for me
It’s so funny how you said Kitsch is for the global audience and I AM for the Korean because it’s literally the other way around, Korea seems to be obsessed with Kitsch, it keeps reaching new peaks on the charts 2 weeks later while I AM is so appreciated by the global audience. Lol

I AM, I feel, is like an older Alan Walker song, especially with how the pre-chorus and chorus develops with almost a sentimental melody. My goodness I love it. Kitsch feels iconic. It feels like IVE's version of HYLT or Next Level, with the exuberance and confidence I got from them. Overall, it's an incredible album.

IVE are just THAT group right now. I fell in love right at their debut. Eleven is still one of the best debuts out there in my opinion. And they've just been getting better and better. I absolutely love how they KNOW that they're insane for being this popular with only singles until I'VE IVE. And they honestly have every right to be cocky about it. But instead of singing about being the greatest, they instead have super inspiring lyrics.

She didn't fit the song. There was nothing wrong with it. Should they spread the lines evenly in every single song on the album? That would hurt the songwriting.
l had to go look at the line distribution. Personally, I do believe that they have to make the effort to do so. Having her sing more than one line can't be that "unfiting" for the song.

‘I AM’ has to be my fave ive title track. it's AMAZING. leeseo's prechorus literally makes you feel like you're floating and the BRIDGE. oh my GOD. yujin and liz sound incredible this era. all the girls really shine in this comeback, so happy they finally got the album they deserve!!!!

Not only does this song sound like a love letter to some of the best sounds from the 2nd gen of KPOP, at least with the girl groups, it just feels so empowering, like they're not only trying to encourage themselves, but also their fans as well. I AM is one of those VERY rare KPOP songs I fell in love with instantly, at first listen.

I Am is one of the best songs I've ever heard. I'm so obsessed with it. Girls were SINGING
I honestly think 'I AM' is them looking to their future. They are still a newer group, within their first year, and this song is them once dreaming about them things they'd accomplish as a group, and them now living it our being On Their Way to it. Its a song about Aspiration and believing in your potential. Honestly, i thought 'Love Dive' was their best song, 'I AM' has just blown my mind.
I love how with this comeback you have on one side people saying how Kitsch is IVE’s best song ever and fighting everyone to hold their controversial opinion and on the other side people being relived that the main title is I AM and that IVE is continuing their streak of perfectly created title tracks. LMAO It’s such a weird but fun atmosphere. Also, I love how so many non dives became fans of the group because of one of these 2 songs. I feel like IVE hit the jackpot because they won either way, they got everybody. LOL I personally ADOREEE I AM, it is up there with Love Dive for me but I also LOVED Kitsch too and always thought it was a grower/sleeper hit because even now as we speak is reaching new peaks on the charts blocking I AM. It was a matter of time until people realized that Kitsch is lowkey IVE’s nastiest bop.

kitsch might sound a bit more aggressive and fast forward because its german.
maybe thats also the reason a lot of people are unfamiliar with this term; it was simply included in the english language because theres no good translation for it in english.
kitsch does not always mean poorly done art (no matter what form of art); its a whole vibe youre getting once you laid your eyes on the person or the object you refer to as "kitsch".
you call tons of decorative figures in your grandmas home kitsch, but also many details on someones outfit or make up, when they use a lot of adjectives to describe something, the list goes on.
as soon as its not straight forward anymore, a bit unneccessary if you will - but for the person who owns the stuff or the kitschy vibe it means a lot.
the majority of stuff germans call kitsch can be already old or outdated (90s, 80s etc.), because its often a thing a certain generation has or does which makes no sense to the mostly younger generations.
the lyrics says "ninteens kitsch" - which is odd compared to what i just tried to describe; and thats why it is so perfect.
they used this lyrics to refer to them "setting new standards" by the way they do music, they do dances etc., because they know that there are people that dislike the stuff they do because they do it a certain way.
their "kitsch" is their career, their music style, their singing style, their oufits, looks, the whole vibe ive gives off.
for them its perfect, almost essential to them - but for haters or people who just dont get it its art that is less useful, less practical or less cohesive and important as the art/music they prefer.
for a german it does make way more sense and i hope that without that knowledge of the meaning behind kitsch, everyone else still can get it - and i hope that this comment helped understanding it a bit more :)
ps: the sound at the very beginning sounds so much like a cuckoo clock which is also such a typical german kitschy thing, i dunno if thats intentional but it just makes it a bit more perfect for me ^^
The word "Kitsch" is German. They definitely included the Kitsch elements in the song and mv. The recorder in the beginning is most likely to be the noise of a kukusclock. Like these old big clocks with a bird coming out every hour. The set with Wonyoungs face, the signs in the background, the lasers, the flowers, the chunky boods, sunglasses and college jackets are all some type of kitsch.
I can totally feel the lady's every comment "Yeah". Because if I were to sit beside PD who has all the knowledge in terms of these stuff and has a very keen eye and ears on every details about the mv and the song, all I can say is "Yeah" and agree to PD.

Kitsch shows a very different side of them, that's what makes me appreciate the song even more. You should give the album a listen, it has very good songs and equally varied.
The KITSCH appreciation is very unique. I love how in depth your interpretation and views in every MV, the story line and the shots are very interesting in both MV and you covered every story of it. I like how noticed that IVE is looking at Wonyoung falling from that Airplane scene too.
i think i am is one of the most emotionally written songs ever. like the dynamics and chord progressions are used to evoke specific emotions and i am certain feeling emotions

I both love it and hate it...I really like the verses and the chorus (minus the post chorus repeating of kitsch) but the lack of liz lines is an actually crime and the bridge was just not good...overall an ok b-side
It feels like they're taking some melodies of songs from de 80-90's and such, and it's really really working, because those songs at that time were amazing and it brings that nostalgia feeling we all love from it

Kitsch mv is very reminiscent of the MVs of late 90s and early 2000s. It was all about runway style walks across the camera, fabulous outfits, and hard stares into the camera.
Yujin’s timbre is beautiful. She was highly underused in IZone so I love IVE. She gets the lines she deserves. Her voice always stands out. I think she’ll come out as one of the greatest vocalists of the 4th generation.

I'm not a fan of IVE at all but DAMN is "I AM" a perfect song and MV. Everything is on point, I don't have the words to describe how cool the whole concept for this song is.

Also, for me, the album was an ALL KILL! I listened too it all the way through, and every track just blew my mind. I think I'm well on my way to being a full blown fan of IVE. After hearing their b-side, My Satisfaction, I knew I was going to be blown away by their future works.

I think the MV does such a good job of showcasing this dream that the lyrics talk about. They talk about being someone’s “dream come true” and then immediately talk about how in the future they’ll be “far away” in “somewhere they want to stay” and they definitely showcase that by cutting between multiple shots of each member. I love how this song is both uplifting to the listener but also talks about IVE’s journey too!
Also, so nice to see you appreciating Wonyoung😭 it feels like a lot of reactors just brush her aside as something expected since we all know what she’s capable of.

I'm not really a gg junkie but this gen of gg's really have me in a chokehold. Every time I hear a song by IVE, I'm a little surprised and end up listening to their title tracks over and over and wonder "how are they gonna do better than this?". And here we are. I am chronically obsessed with After Like but THIS??? I AM is SOOO good!
IVE keeps proving to me each release why they becoming my #1 group! Like this studio album is like a dessert! I love all of tracks so far especially I AM which gave me goosebumps. It also reminds me of SNSD’s Into The New World that gives me the same vibes. Also Kitsch & Blue Blood is another favorite too.

I know Kitsch had a lot of negative reviews but I loved it ALOT. The drop didn’t take very long for me to get used to and it grew on me very quickly…It’s kinda funny how the chorus was the part everybody was excited for when the teaser dropped and now it’s people’s least favorite part 😔😪 Regardless I definitely love Kitsch from start to finish.

Kitsch is a positive word nowadays amongst young generations, it basically means having your own style and not just following trends like sheep - but yes it does also mean that the style is usually quite 'out there' and unique, and it may include throwbacks to retro styles or things people generally find garish & a bit much 💖
The lyrics and the odd drop in the chorus reflect this, as well as the banner in the video that say 'You're so weird, don't change' 🥰 It's an homage to people in a lane of their own, unbothered about what others are doing

I AM is a 12/10 comeback🔥 All the tracks on IVE's 1st Album were really well produced and 'Blue Blood' and 'Hypnosis' were standouts for me🌟

I always find ive’s song’s excellent but this comeback has made me fall in love with the group/members. These mvs are incredible and their acting is blindingly good. I am in love with Yujin now and that look she always has in her eyes it gives me goosebumps. Your reaction has significantly helped me finding this fuller love for ive 💜
You listen to Kitsch, and I thought it was great, very different than what I'm used to from IVE, but it's so catchy, especially that pre-chorus. But then you listen to I AM, and wow that song is on another level, where it feels like I should be listening to this song in Las Vegas at a festival with the lights shining everywhere, and just the energy it brings. That song is probably their best title track for me personally, and it's their most grandiose song I'd say.
Line Distribution doesnt exist in IVE when all of the member can effectively deliver their lyrics with so much impact, regardless the number of line they all get. IVE is the complete, THEY are THE Vitruvian Man of KPOP.

I think what always work and what starship sees is the golden trio of Liz Wony Yujin vocal they compliment each other perfectly. IVE was already my new favorite girl group but I think this comeback is on a different level that I haven't seen even from the biggest groups. This is in my humble opinion the greatest comeback of all time from any group, the level of detail is just above and beyond and beyonder like you said, it's expensive not just in a way that exudes richness but it also exudes self love and confidence in a pure way, some people will see it as narcissism which is what the concept is talking about, saying this isn't a bad thing, this is pure and unapologetic self love and the culmination of IVE's hard work to promote themselves as a new group in an industry that is already over saturated, highly competitive and has many great giants established. But IVE came and took their spot by storm with self belief and self love, and going all out regardless of the nay sayers

Fun fact kitsch had very mixed reaction by the public for several reasons Liz only had five seconds the song is very polarizing to a lot of people so kitsch was the perfect pre release it brought a lot of attention and reactions (bad publicity is still publicity) it then started to grow on people then I am realeased a more commercial loud bombastic and objective more cohesive song and everyone loves it
I understand Liz's line. "A strange view of somewhere I want to stay" is referring to her living the life she's always dreamed of. Being a star on stage. Experiencing it as opposed to spectating like most people is a strange view indeed.

I AM is one of my new top 5 songs of all time. Apple and MAGO are in 1st and 2nd respectively with First Sight being in 3rd. After Like and I AM are fighting for 4th and 5th.The video added so much to my first listen, and seeing the lyrics in English on the official video helps so much for non-Korean listeners to understand the whole vibe of a song.

I love how Ive just released single album after single album, & THEN they had the audicity to release an album full to the brim of banger after banger, & none of them were even a re-release, all original tracks!!! Kitsch takes a few listens to set in, but I AM is a love at the first note for me!

Its kinda funny as "Kitsch" is a term used commonly in my native language but I found it hard to translate and explain it in english. You could think of an artwork or design which is purposefully (or accidentally but deemed so by larger audience) over the top, eccentric, sometimes melodramatic. Easiest to imagine maybe with fashion, when its just too much, too weird, too over-the-top. When thought in past terms (like 90s cultural things like fashion or art) its often actually pretty nostalgic - back then thought of as ridiculous, now iconic and very memorable.
When it comes to songs I dont vibe with Kitsch much but I love I AM :D
