I am a broadcast camera operator DOP by training. This is the best non pro vision i have even seen shot.. Excellent use of shot composition and intended content in frame, sun behind you, excellent locations, ideally framed exposed and correct framing. stablely shot on tripod, Ideal choice of locations and camera position. You have either followed your training well, or studied pro videos or you're a professional
CONGRATULATIONS. Now we are waiting for the video number 1000. I understand at this location there is also a Spiral Tunnel, similar to that one in the CP Rail route in the Canadian Rockies, where you can be lucky to catch a freight consist passing over itself.
@7nordic I'm delighted to see someone else speak of his professionalism - I couldn't agree with your comments more - and I say this believing this particular video isn't even his best work ! He's the best non-pro rail vid guy out there - bar none.
You also framed tight close in ! and farmed witht eh San Gabriels for locational atmosperhe and background back drop. Good use of location sound This is great vision! John Amundsen
CONGRATULATIONS on 800 Robert - great stuff as always, especially loved the long shot of the UP-BNSF meet and your "pet" in the opening shot. Have you a name for him? ;-)
@signalman71 Both connections at Keenbrook and Silverwood are still used for Quailty, Manifest, Intermodal, and 'Special' trains. I'm not sure of any BNSF ethanol trains. I know UP uses the connections for their trains orginating in L.A.-Salt Lake City, L.A.-Denver, West Colton-North Platte, Long Beach-Chicago, L.A.-Chicago, and other destinations.
Great Video. Union Pacific now operates the ethenal train now? I always thought BNSF handles this train. It was also cool to see the snake in your video.
Also pro like use of the ebst shot type close ups and excellent location sound Professional use od dissolves to dissolve between locations and scenes, trully professional aligment of progression of action in terms of aligning centrepoint of frame on the trains and then same point dissolving between trains from different directions John Amundsen
Is the connection at keenbrook used any more? I also still believe that BNSF still runs a ethanol train. Ethanol business is one of the areas that is booming for both BNSF & UP
Awesome job on this one, Robert. Do you know what the BNSF crew district is on this section of mainline? Is it L.A. to Barstow or San Bernardino to Barstow?

I sense a dead snake if I would've been there. Nice job! The first train hooked me on the rest of the video

Cool. When I left CA in 2005, the only connections that I know was being used was the one at Silverwood.
Excellent levels of saturation (color) and definition Amazing color for a non broadcast camera What camera were you using Robert?

Awesome
How do you stay cool there
I didn't see the flat cars at first, so I'm thinking "Why do they need three road engines to pull two tank cars?".
No, Thank You for posting! lol
