Even Gandalf here acknowledged that ultimately it's likely not gonna work because he doesnt believe they have anything to provoke him with. It's not that it's a novel idea here it's that it's their only real play left but also it's so ridiculously hopeless that there's no way it should work. So who in their right mind would think of it.
Especially since he knows Saurons weakness use Anduril against him and yes Sauron will use Arwen against him but it's the best option they have to give Frodo enough time
Its very interesting that in this scene Gandalf seems so negative and defeated. Normally, he's the character who is encouraging others to be brave and to believe in themselves. It was a perfect opportunity for Aragorn to step up into that leader role.

The other day I noticed a conversation between Sam and Frodo taking place in Mordor close to the destruction of the ring where Frodo talks about the journey in the first person singular, even saying "In Rivendell before I set out I was shown a map..." even though they set out together and with several other companions. I can only assume that was a choice to help highlight that along that final part of the journey the ring was really starting to take hold and showing itself in other ways than just jealousy of the ring itself.

I like the origional version of this scene. Gimli says his line and right after "What are we waiting for" it jumps to Gondor horns and all the soldiers marching out of Minas Tirith. It's both hilarious and heroic. In this version it just doesn't flow as well.
Too be honest, Gimli's line was just unfitting to the whole scene. Yeah it makes it funnier but he's practically breaking the 4th wall acknowledging the good guys always win.
I know all hardcore LOTR fans are supposed to like the extended versions more but I honestly don't, I love the theatrical ones more and I am a HUGE fan. I think the extended versions are filled with scenes that Jackson took out for a reason. The only extended scene from ROTK that I think should have been left in the actual film was with Sauromon. But even though that is my favorite extended scene in the whole trilogy I still have problems with it.

In the book there is a touching part that shows Aragorn is a good king. At one point some of his men are too afraid to go to the black gate though they went along initially. Aragorn pardons them and gives them an order to go clear an island in the Anduin and free up that area of enemies. “And they grew hopeful that here was a job that they could do and not be less in their eyes” I’m badly paraphrasing from memory but it showed that as King (he wasn’t yet) he was kind, mercifully and intelligent.

I love how legolas’s very few little words points out the obvious in all 3 movies... the best one is “there taking the hobbits to Isengard” well duhhhh they urukai think they had the ring.... 😂

There may have been omissions from the book, but they did a great job with the scenes, details changed (this was Gandolf's idea) but that hardly matters it was done well.

It terrifies me to think they might remake these movies. Jackson gave us some of best fantasy based moves of all time. I don't see a way to make these better.
