Your comment about their gear is all correct, especially the guitars. Arem still plays her Fender Jazz Bass, actually has two of them, also has a Cort Bass, probably just to be patriotic. Having her bass so low, she is the epitome of the rock bassist, you could put her in any 80s rock band, she would fit in perfect. Hyunjung still pulls out her Strat on occasion when it suits the song, her everyday instrument now is a Suhr Modern Pro. Her solos, her chice of notes are insane, she loves her Wah pedal. Iree plays a magnificent ESP Custom, she is an official ESP Artist, her instrument must be one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. Obviously both, the Suhr and the ESP have humbuckers. The drummer, Yeongeun, is truly amazing. Her timing, her little licks, out of nowhere but fitting perfectly are unreal. I don’t know her current set, for me the most obvious she played in a few MVs was a Sonor Hilite kit. These young ladies are a truly skilled bunch, Indie, not Idol, not backed by a billionaire investor or a record company, they are trying to make a living by doing what they love and very good at, pushing rock in the birthplace of K-pop, which is not a very rewarding career. I follow them since the pandemic, love them, seen them live, on stage in Sydney, they are fire. If you like rock played by a bunch of stunning young ladies and have a chance to see them live, I can highly recommend it. Thanks for reading my spill.
Sorry, one more comment: if you ar interested to see Yeongeun live in action, please check Rock N’ Roll Paradise Official Live MV recorded on one of their concerts. She really is an amazing drummer.
Caught on to this band and became a fan a short short while back. Love em', they've just got contagious energy! Love the guitar + bass and the way they mix it all too. The singer has a great performance and really delivers. The drums are strong in this mix, and what you've noticed is notable for this song. A lot of their songs do tend to have an up/down mix on guitars depending on the song, and on certain songs the guitars are def cranked up vs. other songs. The mixer - whoever they are - definitely fluctuates volume per song more so than I've seen many bands. Also note, they do stream concerts (like this) on a semi-regular basis. They just did one for new year/wrapping up the year. Was a good show. Looking forward to seeing them tear it up on their tour they're starting right now. Anyway, great react/review, got a subscribe from me! I routinely do similar reviews, and regularly dive into the gear too for bands. Love picking it apart and sorting out what is what! 🤘🏻
Looking forward to seeing Rolling Quartz in April!! If you are in the US, they will likely be close to you this spring. This band formed in 2019. You should see how they have upped their style game and have great new original music and covers since this video!
I am totally focused on J-Metal and J-Rock, but I never miss any opportunities to watch Rolling Quartz. A very good and lovable band with 5 very good and lovable members. Thanks for your reaction. You should check some recent videos of them too 👍🏼 ❤🇫🇷🤘🏻
Enjoyed the reaction! They're playing traditional Fender Stratocasters. Both have Fender headstocks. The white one is a Custom Stock '69 reissue, so it has the larger '70s style headstock. The blue one is a pre-2000 American Standard. I think the Pikachu is throwing you off. You won't get a really heavy tone out of those single coils. Great for some genres such as Blues, but not the usual choice for heavier music. This is an old video. They've since switched to double coil Humbucker equipped guitars as their style has gotten heavier.
gotcha, thank you so much for the gear rundown Ron, LOVE other gear nerds LOL yea I was about to say, I see most folks who play this type of music playing double coils and humbuckers so I was confused 🤣
Amazing band! Very talented! Will be seeing them in May, they sound so good live and are just a joy to watch on stage, so much fun and energy! Pink Drop is a song of theirs, you should check out, it's a cover but not, they combined a BTS and Pink Black song into one song, it rocks!
Like @ZoltanSomlo, I saw Rolling Quartz live in Sydney 🇦🇺 a few months ago, and they rocked the roof off! I haven't previously seen this cover, but they have come a long way since 2020. I met the ladies after the concert at the fan signing, and when drummer Yeongeon looks you directly in the eye, the effect is mesmerising! Watch how she interacts with the camera on some of the music videos. If possible, I suggested checking some of their more recent original material (examples include Blaze, Fearless, Victory, Delight) Thanks for the gear breakdown.
One note is that this is a very early video shortly after formation. As you noted, during Covid when they built an audience with UA-cam concerts. - Iree’s guitar has an Indian head sticker applied by the previous owner of that guitar. After this point, RQ had an official debut on Korean Music Television shows when the Indian head was scratched off for obvious reasons. Hyungung would swap between Pikachu and Sqirtle on her guitar neck, but less so after debut. - “Rock and Roll Paradise” is a cool original song by them. “Azalea” an awesome Korean cover. Their “Youth Gone Wild” cover was always fun. They now have a fairly large playlist. - I saw them live in LA in ‘23 and plan to again later this year.
Sorry, I have not commented recently mostly because I am not familiar with the artists you have been featuring ... however, I know this band well :) . Everybody ... and I mean EVERYBODY loves Yeongeon! If you want to see her shine look up "Victory by Rolling Quartz (Close up - Drums Yeong Eun)". A nice drum cam for you. She usually plays barefoot.
This is an OLD video BTW. I can tell by IREEs guitar. Recording quality is sort of low. Jayoung is one of the best vocalists I know. She is a vocal coach in Korea and instructs several young K-Pop singers. They are touring the US this spring ... you really should go see them :) .
@@DrumRoast DIH disbanded over a year ago now, but Keith is correct, they were great! The drummer, Esther, has her own channel now ... named for her "look" :p . look for the video "[LIVE] 동이혼 (DIH) - 어떤X [Jessi Cover] (Drum Focus)" The name of her channel is "Hamster playing drums" ... lol.

I don’t know many Korean bands compared to Japanese bands as they are not getting as much attention outside of Korea as the K-pop groups although there are some rock and punk groups starting to get some traction. Rolling Quartz was the first I would have suggested they are trying to get out there with touring outside Korea and posting their own self bootlegs.
This must have been filmed early in their career (confirmed, 2020), it's a little odd seeing them with ordinary hair colors instead of their customary Technicolor (Iree, guitar 1 (-whammy); Hyunjung, guitar 2 (+whammy); Yeongeun, drums; Areum, bass; Jayoung, vocals). About the only thing that's remained constant is Jayoung sticking to blonde or blonde ombre variants. They have an honorary sixth member, solo vocalist AleXa has collaborated with them on a couple of songs and a recent live stage in Seoul (their "Stand Up" tour)
That sounds like a good singer to me. She has a sense of soul about her, in that she conveys a lot of emotion to the listener. I mainly listen to Japanese bands, and that is something often lacking IMO.
You are probably new to Rolling Quartz. Jayoung is an exceptional vocalist and you need to hear "Reminiscence" to really get how good she is ua-cam.com/video/L_YooJt_ewU/v-deo.html
Awesome when a new fan is born! I recorded their Dallas show in 23'. Did the whole VIP experience. It was freaking amazing! Great reaction btw! ua-cam.com/video/uX3UQx0enEo/v-deo.html

No, Jazz bass is way more versatile, punchy and tight - better suited for rock and metal than a P-bass.
❤❤❤ gotcha, I just got thrown off by the fact that Fender called it a Jazz bass whenever it came out🤣🤣🤣
