- Since i built my workbench vises i used two temporary handles for them.
In today's episode it's time to make two another handles and fit them to the workbench.
Preety simply project.
As the bonus - they will be quiet handles ;)
I decided to make some WORKBECH UPGRADE serie of videos wich i'll be upload for time to time. I hope it will be nice change for you :)
BTW. Forgive me my blunt woodturning chisels - i haven't build my sharpening station yet.
If you have any questions or sugestions just write a comment.

Odkąd zbudowałem imadła warsztatowe, używałem do nich dwóch tymczasowych uchwytów.
To będzie prosty projekt.
BTW. Wybaczcie mi moje tępe dłuta do toczenia - jeszcze nie zbudowałem stacji ostrzenia.

Dziękuję!

Thank you!
so happy that you've started to make videos again!
Thanks Emil!
@@StavrosGakos I'm sure all your subscribers are also like myself
Cannot believe I just now discovered your channel. Don't know which is more enjoyable- your woodcraft or video making style. Well, woodcraft. It is to wood working what flying is to jumping, speedskating to slipping, sprinting to crawling. Thanks for documenting it because to witness the magic is a higher privilege than the world deserves. Thanks!
You're welcome David ;)
Excellent work! It's the little things that make everyday working more of a pleasure and less annoying! 👍
Seeking perfection in even the most basic of tools, a true craftsman.
Hey Tom, thank you :)
Really beautiful the jobs you do ... you can see all the passion you put in and the experience you have. A pleasure to see your projects
Thank you :)
I’ve seen similar done with a tension wire. Much like a bench dog tension wire.
I miss the tool making videos. Thanks!
Nice work fella, absolutely love your videos I'm glad you're making them again.
Thanks again :)
Nice work. Love your bench.
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you :) Regards from Poland!
If you have to build some shop furnitures (tool cabinets, lumber rack, drill press table, sharpening station, etc etc) I would be very pleased to see your works.
Good to see you're "back"!!
Thank you :)
Ah yes! Noisy vise handles! The bane of my life. I'm fine with my lathe and circular saw and router and angle grinder and bench grinder and I can file sheet metal and hammer in nails, beat copper into shape and all that with no problem. But those bloody vise handles are deafening! It's a wonder that the neighbours haven't complained. I've tried playing loud heavy metal to drown out the sound of those infernal vise handles but I can still hear them. This could be just the solution I'm looking for.
👍👍👍😉
Genius idea. Will add some leather to my vise handle as well! (It now has stops made of particle board. Really.)
But...what I can't wrap my head around: you make these beautiful planes and yet you use a Frankenstein screwdriver that looks like it has been decomposing since the middle ages. Quite funny :)
( I can imagine and upcoming restauration video where you gold plate it)
Thank you! I showed that screwdriver to make appetite for restoration video ;)
Good ideas, I'll have to make some new (quiet) handles for my bench now!
Thanks Craig :)
You're looking just like Ashley Harwood at the lathe!😅
Beautiful work - thanks. I am about to make a bench and really like the look and functionality of your bench. Do you have a video or details about the bench itself?
Thanks, sorry i don't have it, only my tail vise video. Cheers!
Nice upgrade.
Thanks Troy!
A nice little "quality of life" upgrade
Thank you!
Like everyone else. Welcome back!! 👴🏻🇦🇺
Hey Mark :) thank you
Its good to have you back. I like the leather pad idea. Is this your new shop? I look forward to a tour.
Hey Mike! Yes, it is my new shop. Regards :)
I also made the diameter precisely and simply drilled two dowels near the end of the handle. But not the ugly version. The dowels are only as long as needed and just a tiny bit longer than the diameter. Ok, it doesn't has a leather feature but it is simple and looks good.
Thank you!
Enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Fajne.
Hej Marcin! Pozdrowienia :)
I used a piece of pipe filled with lead and a couple of o rings. Unless it is in the way the handle stays centered. Between the pipe and the lead it has enough inertia that I can flick it open and flick it shut.
nice one!
Thanks mate!
Nice, why hasn't it always been done this way?
Thanks!
Love your videos
Think I am an old traditional joiner in a slightly younger body
Bit disappointed you didn’t burnish the leather, not that it’s needed that and I was expecting the dowel to have minimal ( maybe a 1/16” ) movement once fitted. Still nice work.
Just a question do you have a favourite tool? Maybe a plane? Or any other tool?
That’s love your channel.
Thank you, i have a lot of favourite tools ;) Regards!
Personally I bought an Issac Greaves oval bolster mortice chisel, possibly dated 1800s. Handle and blade are in great nick.
Love using it to cut mortices, have now bought some Mathieson chisels dated around 1850s, being from Glasgow love Mathieson tools.
Pig sticker is still my favourite. There is something about handmade old tools, they have a totally different feel to them.
Nice fix. Why would you plane the blank down before turning it? Your roughing gouge would make short work of a square blank and save you a whole operation.
Thanks! You have right but piece of wood was small and i was affraid to make it too thin. When i make it square and a little bit oversized i was sure i can get right diameters of the wooden rod. That option makes less mess also :) Regards!
ooo you back, news of the day ;-)
Thank you :)
Thank you, I will use it
Great! Thank you :)
fajny upgrade:)
Pozdrawiam
Nice bench , greetings from greece . By the way είσαι Έλληνας ?
Hello! Thank you :) no, i have only greek roots, my grand father was born near Edessa. Regards from Poland!

Stavro, thanks for returning with new videos, i couldn't wait any longer :)

Can you please clean that screwdriver?
That's the plan ;)

całe życie marzyłem o warsztacie, mieszkam i pracuję w wieżowcu ...

No i ładnie :)

No, i'm not. It is my hobby.
