      video game developers:
      ahh yes, flash hider completely hides the flash and reduces recoil
      ahh yes, the muzzle brake reduces recoil in every direction
      ahh yes, the compensator reduces horizontal recoil
      ahh yes, the suppressor reduces range, reduces weapon’s damage, increases recoil and completely silences gun

    Saw a muzzle brake/linear compensator hybrid reduces recoil, but reduces blast by directing it forward. Keeps your range buddies from losing it

    Actually colt AR 15 Wikipedia calls it a A2 compensater the reason it doesn't have any ports on the bottom is so it don't kick up dust when shooting prone .

    • @nicholashodges201

      That's what we were told in basic. Our Drill Sergeants had experience with the old style and hated it. It kicked up dust when firing prone and the prongs were unprotected and would snag on everything

    That birdcage flash hider has the ports on top so that it won't blow on the dust or foliage below the muzzle

    So if I got this correct A muzzle break expels gas out the side, a compensator expels the gas in every direction and a flash hider expels gas upwards and sidewards?

    Hey man. Great video. Straight to the point. I have recently purchased a guntec barrel shroud/ comp just like yours. Looks great. But I literally ordered it 7 days ago and it hasn't been shipped. Wandering if you had same prob. I purchased mine off extremetactical though. Keep up the good work my friend.

      Makes me wonder if they had one in stock or they're waiting for more to come in. Right now everything's been crazy. I have stuff on order from March that has been pushed out to June delivery. Yea Ammo, but barrels and other stuff I'm having trouble with lately too.

      Thanks for replying. And yeah I called then today and they said it should shit tomorrow. Idk some of the reviews I seen from guntec is that they can be slow. But I'm pretty excited to try it out. But I think I'll have to move my flashlight back unfortunately because it looks like the barrel shroud will be in the way of the m lok screws. But we'll see. Keep it up man👍

    What is the difference between aluminum kind or steel muzzle device ❔
    Is one better than the other one.

    • @NeckboneArmory
      @NeckboneArmory  2 роки тому +3

      Steel will be heavier but less likely to damage. Aluminum will be lighter but not as durable in the long run. Keep in mind that steel can be torqued down a lot harder than aluminum, aluminum can strip the threads easier if you're not careful.

    He calls the A2 flash hider a flash hider instead of a compensator, which it probably is even though it's kind of a combination. But in a little confused about the "compensator" he has on the fde colored rifle, wouldn't that be more of a combination linear compensator and muzzle brake. Then it is a an actual compensator.
    I thought that any "compensator" has a ported side and a solid side, hints to compensate the directional blow back felt. .
    Not to argue that he's wrong in this video or anything, I'm not a muzzle brake expert by any means. An I know that there are allot of hybrid combination muzzle brakes out there, that serve multi purpose. An I'm sure there's allot more information I can read up on that'll clarify more so. But just in my brief time kind of checking out and going over the difference in muzzle brakes, an Brownells videos about muzzle brakes. Along with acouple others, my understanding was that a "compensator" is NOT ported on all sides. Maybe that one is baffled differently on the inner side or something.

    I thought that the primary purpose of a flash hider was to hide the flash from the shooter. I heard that a flash hider redirects the muzzle flash out of the line of sight of the shooter. Is there any merit to this?

    • @NeckboneArmory
      @NeckboneArmory  3 роки тому +4

      Yea the flash hider is meant to reduce visible signature. It can help the shooter but also make it harder to tell exactly where the shooter is if that makes sense.

    • @tombaxter2879
      @tombaxter2879 2 роки тому +1

      @@NeckboneArmory I think zachary scott is correct. Flash hiders are not intended to hide the flash from an observer (e.g., an enemy combatant), but rather from the shooter so that the shooter is not temporarily blinded by the flash in a self-defense scenario or when using a night-vision optic.

    • @tombaxter2879
      @tombaxter2879 2 роки тому

      I believe you are correct about this. I think a flash suppressor is intended to suppress the flash from the perspective of the shooter.

      just look up "barrel shroud" for whatever ar platform you have. i have one like his, its from a company called guntec but if you google barrel shrouds you can find other companies that have slightly different designs.

    Muzzle brake.

  • @antonw-uw4ov
    @antonw-uw4ov 2 роки тому

    I don't think that trying to make a distinction between compensators and brakes is meaningfull. They are the same thing. And the type with large ports on the side and small on top is by far the most effective at staying on target, that's why that is almost the only type seen in IPSC/USPSA.
