We know that "reinventing the wheel" is seen as a joke. But we have done. And when you ride on loopwheels, you'll wonder why no one did it sooner. - Спорт
Finally a video about a wheel with built in suspension without people ranting about its problems like they know any better. Thank you for making a well tested product!
Glad you enjoyed it! And thank you so much for the positivity
im on a long economy to get the budget for a recumbent trike and would be really happy if i could find a 26" loop wheel too, with disks for speed changing. great invention, would say its about time lol. thanks for this amazing wheel, looking forward to riding it
What is the energy expenditure of those wheels? As you are constantly deforming the wheel while it rotates, it has to have a larger energy loss as compared to regular wheels.
Hi Thomas The whole wheel doesn't deform - just the springs, and they only move a little unless the force is great. So the energy loss is much much smaller than you'd imagine. The rate of Hysteresis in the carbon composite springs is good.
@Loopwheels, you could add a feature: make a spring hardness variable. For example with a second bowden cable which controls a counter spring/s.
Will do! Glad you're excited. I've not got all the Kickstarter bikes out yet, but I hope I will be getting to yours soon. (Now just try and get some sleep and you'll find the big day comes along a lot quicker . . . )
Nice! I was wondering about this myself for my mountainbike.
Hello again Sam and Thank U again for this video. I've been keeping up with the growth of your product since 2013 when being involved in a major vehicle accident. But, i'm really interested in the upcoming Mountain Bike concept in 2017. I look forward in purchasing that product in the near future and hopefully before 2017. Keep me posted.
Thanks so much for following our progress. you're one of many waiting patiently for a MTB wheel. The wheelchair wheels have been going so well that last year we decided just to focus on that one market for a while, so we have run down our smaller bike wheel stock and pressed pause on MTB wheels. But they are definitely still in the pipeline - just a bit of a longer one. We're selling wheelchair wheels in 18 countries now so new product development had to take a back seat. If you want to keep up with news, best thing is to sign up to our mailing list on our website www.loopwheels.com . It'll be worth the wait.
I love the idea of the wheels, be great to see them bigger to fit my fixie bikes, 700c. If you do make any bigger ones, happy to test and document them.
Great idea - sad that it is not the mainstream solution for bikes. I think they would be great on an gocycle.
I love to try it on mij unicycle.
Are there special kind of brakes for this wheel?
What's this song?
What is the max speed you can get on them? If you think about it hitting a high speed with this junk wound kinda mess them up..
put this on a downhill mountain bike and let it test a pro!
This isn't just thinking outside the box; it's thinking about opening the box, too.
Cheers Matt. I am working on bigger wheels. We're also planning a kind of user group of our Kickstarter backers and early customers, if they want to join and give us ongoing feedback. If you're seriously keen to help us out, drop me or Gemma an email and let us know where you're based etc. And we can see if that works out for you and us. Thank you! (Contact details on website - it won't let me post them here!!)
@t website shop offer no bike wheels despite the video..... too bad
nice
I want this for my Brompton Bike !!! Badly !!! why you don't have any News for Bike recently ???
We really focus just on wheelchair wheels now, because our wheels are so good at reducing the harmful vibrations that cause lower back pain, fatigue and other issues for wheelchair users. We would love to come back to bikes in the future but haven't any immediate plans for Bromptons sorry.
Why not! We like happy customers ;-)
What size T-shirt would you like?
A size large please:-)
Loopwheels for president
if you where to go off a jump would they break
They should be fine: we've done major impact testing, to well over a tonne. So they shouldn't break. Warranty doesn't cover stunts though.
Странно, зачем из по таким дорогам такое колесо? Там вообще не нужна амортизация. Это колесо для России )
How you can brake with it?
Yes - drum brakes - correct!
Good thanks. Good idea. Its better, if you make it electric. ;)
Electric hubs would be good too! That's one still to come . . .
My bicycle(MTB - have this bicycle since I was 14-15) has very strong construction but it's a bit heavy compared to other, I turn it to electric(front wheel), put a fork with suspension, seat with suspension and a suspension for the seat holder ...still not very smooth for our roads and because I do carry extra weight(battery) this wheels would be great. But a front 1000w 48v or rear wheel hub motor is needed :D
how much A pair of that?
Our wheelchair wheels start at £800 a pair. We no longer make the smaller wheels for folding bikes - sorry
40 seconds into the ad before even see the product. hope you didnt pay much for production of this lmao
would be interesting to see these cornering going downhill at 40 kmh...
Странное видео, наверное любой велосипед красиво смотрелся бы на фоне всего этого. Если колесо амортизатор, то и показывать надо как оно амортизирует...
if they add an a engine, as electric bike, would better
Realy great idea but it has got 3 realy big defects :
1. Horrible expensive
2. Horrible expensive
3. Horrible expensive
ролик ни о чем
Lo malo precio, lo bueno no hay mejor suspensión, lo feo esa bike es lenta a ningún lado me lleva.
Squishy
Actually - less squishy than most people imagine they'd be.
Wondering how it will handle different weights, I mean it's different if you give a bicycle to a 45kg woman and different when I ride a bicycle beeing 80kg :D
"revolutionary" *giggles*
There is no damping.
No explanation. THanks for nothing.
+Robert Crawford I thought the same thing.....nothing to explain WHY i should switch from my standard wheel except that maybe it cool to have....horrible video
Have you ever ever heard aboutt...physics? These soft wheels are constantly absorbs part of energy to distort itself. This will never ever work.
Lots of physics in Loopwheels - of course!!! They work really well . . . but you have to try them yourself to believe it, maybe.
