      @@joemayo4078 you are probably very young Joe. I made my living teaching martial arts from 1984 through 2013. No karate guy I ever talked to thought of wrestling as a martial art. Publications like Black Belt magazine certainly never mentioned it. In the early 90’s, when the UFC came out and you had guys like Severn, Couture, Henderson, Matt Lindland and a host of Olympic and NCAA champions did you see wrestling getting its proper due in what you could call the martial arts community. That is a fact. Of course late 90’s and since then everyone knows the importance of a wrestling background and the advantages it can give you.

    • @isaiahserena2421

    • @emmanueludoh77
      @emmanueludoh77 10 місяців тому

      Mark was being penalized for passivity. The ref says "action blue" at 2:05 before blowing the whistle. Nowadays, you are put on the 30-second shot clock, but back then, you were either placed in par terre or you had to allow your opponent to initiate a takedown from a standing position Notice the ref asks Kurt Angle to choose Kerr's position as standing (up) or par terre (down).

    Then Kerr, Coleman, and Randleman, hammer house guys, juiced themselves to the gills n went on to MMA. All three so much ability, and I believe they wouldve been better had they not juiced n turned into mass monsters, all fought at heavyweight. Theyd all gas out. Imagine Randleman fighting at his natural weight around welterweight/middleweight?! All are legends, RIP monster

      Imagine this version of Kerr fighting in the UFC at about the late 2000's at HW and not cutting weight at around 235-240. His cardio and wrestling would've been enough to beat pretty much every HW champion in history.
