This was very helpful to see. That circuit board can be fixed and reused again. You tube has some videos on how to replace the burnt out transistors and such. I fixed my Frigidaire dryer today but my control board was all sealed up and could not see inside. I have to crack it open to see what went wrong. Surge protectors are very useful to have. Thank you, Chris. 4:49 - Just look at that dirt in this woman's control board. She probably never cleaned that dryer out. What a fire hazard! If I were you, I would carry a small Shopvac with me. It also functions as a blower to blow out the dryer vent from inside the dryer. All the lint comes out. Vacuum then blow and it is all clean again. Dust is so bad for electronics. Here is how I label the wire harness for my own repairs: 1. Vacuum it CLEAN! 2. Use acrylic paints and paint each wire and its socket with one color. Nail polish also works. 3. After painting, take a few photos. Photos save you major headaches. One small issue and you can waste an hour on it. 4. Disconnect. Reconnecting is easy as you can pair up with colors and use the photos as guides. 5. Make notes and print out photos and store them in a plastic sleeve inside the dryer for any future use. FYI had to GO through, not WENT through. Correct English usage.
Thank you Brother. I’m a commercial plumber, and this was so helpful for us guys who are really, really good….at getting ourselves in deep trouble. :) Thank you for taking the time sir!
Thank you, Mr. Stokes Great video!!! You address every single detail from start to finish giving us all the info we need to do the repair. Thank you again God Bless you
I replaced two relays on two different dryers made by maytag and have been working for years. The relays are $17.00 each a control panel is $270.00. If you can solder replace the relays.
I hear you. However, soldering can be a hit and miss repair sometimes. When I am making repairs for a customer, I rather replace the board and provide at least a one year warranty. But, if that is working for you keep doing it. Thanks
Agreed especially when there is a shipping delay. Relays are super easy to test and replace. Done many never had a issue. It all depends on the techs skill level
I have a GEW9250PW1 that doesn't light up at all, nothing. Not sure which board would be at fault. The thermo fuse is shot and one is on the way. Any ideas?
Hello, I haven't got as far as checking underneath the board yet(did reseat all the harnesses on board) but my dryer motor will kick on for a single rotation, then stop. I've ruled out the drive motor, thermistor and thermal fuse. My next guess is the control board so trying to do research but have you seen that symptom before? I removed the drum and watched the motor kick on briefly without any load on it, same with belt and drum installed. I installed new motor and it rotated in same manner. Just kicked on and stopped immediately. Checked new thermistor and thermal fuse with meter and both confirmed nominal after the motor. No errors codes unfortunately. My whirlpool is gas and has this same board in it. I was able to return the motor fortunately...lol! I appreciate any input. Thank you. 🙏
If you have replaced the motor with the same results. It sounds like you have a short circuit. I would recommend that you find/get the schematic on this dryer and with a multimeter start testing different components. Unfortunately, when an appliance is short circuiting there isn't any easy place to start. However, I would recommend looking for any burned or frayed harnesses and especially burn smell around the motor or circuit board. Lastly, I am sure you have checked air flow for blockage. Hope that helps. Thanks
Thank you for your video What should I do the dryer shows pf - (Power failure) couple of times and then does not turn on Unplug and put this back still does not turn on
I would recommend trying to place it in "Diagnostic" mode and see what error code you receive. There are a couple of troubleshooting steps that may be needed if that doesn't solve your issue (too many to number here). Hope that helps.
Have you ever repaired those boards? I have saved several of them over the years with same issue. I found a guy on ebay that repairs them for about $45. I'm going to try and fix one myself. I will keep you posted.
I have WED9400SW0 that has F25 error code. I have cleaned the lint from everywhere in the dryer. I replaced the hi-limit thermostat and thermal cut off. The thermal fuse has continuity. The outlet thermistor has 11.9 ohms resistance at 70° F. Checked moisture sensors. All connections seem to be fine. Still stuck on F25 / Sensing. Not sure what else needs to be done. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have same issues with my Cabrio Dryer. I did replace those parts. But still F25/sensing. Now I am going to replace the electronic control board W10294316.
No, not always. When you see a burn mark that is just one indication that the board is faulty. If you can find the schematic, you can test the board to be sure. Hope that helps.
hello... Love the how-to part, You inspire lots of people with your can-do attitude... I have a Duet dryer Model # GEW9200LW1, I did the diagnostic test by pushing the more less more buttons and all the lights go on. No code displays just the 88. If I cancel so that no power or lights are on. Then push power and set what I want to do with the dryer. And push and hold the start button it does not start. If I just push it a few times and then hold it sometimes starts and runs fine. So by just doing the above, I can get it going but it may take a few tries. Any suggestions Please... Thanks, Ron
It sounds like your user interface control board is starting to fail and would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, there is no conclusive way to test it. If the dryer does work fine when you can get it started, I would go with the user interface board. Also, don't forget to keep an eye on my channel, we are working on a project that will make troubleshooting appliances easier for you DIYers. Hope that helps. Thanks
Yes, mine is f01 error with no marks.. my issue is with exact same board but is a bravos dryer. It still runs but the steam option is staying on. Still gets hot and spins and all but the steam crap keeps pushing water in the drum..
FIRST, ensure SAFETY!! Make sure the dryer is unplugged, then use a small flat head screw driver to assist in with removing (by lifting up) the harness. Hope that helps. Thanks
I would recommend that you remove test the door switch first by removing the console and front panel. If the door switch is good, the it's most likely the control board. Hope that helps. Thanks
I have a Whirlpool Duet electric dryer GEW9250PW1. Wife told me, it's not working." No error code. The lights won't even come on. It's plugged in. No breakers were "blown." Checked the circuit board. No burn marks anywhere. Any suggestions? Thank you.
If NO lights are on (display, inside, etc...). You need to start with voltage. I understand that you checked the breaker, but it could be the receptacle, plug, burned terminal block, etc... If you do not have a Voltmeter/Multi-meter, then I would suggest you buy one or get a cheap voltage tester from Lowes or Home Depot. This is where you should start and then you can troubleshoot from there. Lastly, have you lost power in the last couple of weeks (from a storm or...)? Hope that helps. Thanks & Be Blessed
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I just ended up buying a new dryer. I used the old power cord, attached it to the new dryer and plugged it in. All is well. I didn’t want to troubleshoot parts. The dryer was 12 yrs old and not worth the time & money. Thanks for your reply.
I have the same problem but the inside drum light is on, no control panel lights. I shut the breaker off and back on and the dryer control panel lights up and dryer works and suggestions
You are welcome. I am glad I could help. As I always tell my students, troubleshooting and repairing circuit boards (mother boards) are really easy to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair when you know what to look for. I appreciate the positive review. Thanks Again
Hi, we don't recommend soldering the circuit board. You may cause it to short and because it is a dryer, possible fire. I would recommend buying a new circuit board or dryer. If it is happening too frequently, you may have an electrical issue. Especially, if you have a lot of power outages like we have in our area. Hope that helps. Thanks

Do you always see a burn mark if it’s the main circuit board? I’m being told it’s the circuit board but there is no visible damage or burns???
No, not always. When you see a burn mark that is just one indication that the board is faulty. If you can find the schematic, you can test the board to be sure.

What causes part of the control buttons on a whirlpool dryer work and part of them don't.
Bad user interface board or main board.
May just be a lose panel

I would recommend that you remove test the door switch first by removing the console and front panel. If the door switch is good, the it's most likely the control board.
