It’s a good funny title but also at the crux of parenting is figuring out what triggered you as a kid and parent and how to tamper or correct that in the next generation.

Lizzie, oh my godddddd 😂 I am absolutely pissing my pants with laughter while you’re talking to your Dad. You both have the most wild adhd experiences while having a conversation and bouncing from a million topics all wrapped around one main point. And how you both annoyed the hell out of one another but never let that emotion drive your conversations. Oh I miss my Dad so much. I appreciate watching this on a different level. I don’t have children and my father’s long gone in what I lovingly call his dumping grounds. I love this banter and it’s something I miss the most.❤

Yay! First thing that comes to mind for me is that I want you to look at me(camera) more. I know you are talking to each other, but I feel included when you are both looking at the camera. Or maybe have the camera up where the screen with your partner is located? I watch "all-in" which has four hosts from four different locations. Guess I hadn't realized how effective they are with camera location and keeping my attention . That said, I really enjoy your back and forth. Would people remember "Parent PaRANT" ? As in parenting and parent "ranting "talk? Prolly not. Spell check didn't like me typing

I absolutely love the Lizze and Dad chaos 😂 I would 10000% be interested in listening/watching the podcast. I think it's so cool to have the opportunity to talk to your parent openly about things, and even cooler to have it recorded to look back on.
A lot of our job as parents is to heal that generational trauma, and I think it's the hardest job in the world. I didn't really "sleep train" my kids, but I got them onto a schedule of dinner, bath, bed at specific times really early on, and I think that really helped. But, sleep regressions still happened, although not as bad with my youngest. Also, every kid is different so there is no perfect method. Trust your gut, if it doesn't feel like something is working, try it a different way. You got this

I also love how you are showing an open, loving, honest father daughter relationship that many would love to have or be part of. This is a 10/10 for me. As a parent with a 1 year old id love this podcast! I “sleep trained” my boy at 5 months once I knew he was no longer waking up in the middle of the night to nurse. I think every baby is so different and that’s what makes parenting so difficult. I will say that sleep training him changed my life! He falls asleep on his own with no pacifier and sleeps though the night ever since. Good luck!

Hun mama of six here, i feel mums now days give themselves a complicated time as parents. If i give u any advice do what works for u when it works for u , follow ur instincts , stop looking online, stop with the books extra and do you. I feel all this “new” crap causes so much anxiety and stress on mums.
Imagine we use to let babies be babies and now we have to teach them to do sign language or use a potty fresh out the vag because its what is in.
Go back to basics go back to being a mum and doing what comes natural .
Oh and great idea with the podcast with dad he is soo funny i would subscribe for sure .
A name could be - “generational views with my dad”.
That way u can talk about different things not just parenting.
Love you Lizzie hope u don’t see my advice as harsh , just sad to see mums struggle with all that pressure when it should be simple.

This was such a wholesome conversation between a father& his daughter!! I love that you had to keep him on track& he'd have to mention it was sleep related haaha.
I think you should do a happy medium when it comes to rescuing your crying baby. Answering too quickly doesn't allow them the opportunity to comfort themselves, while letting them cry for 30 minutes might make them feel abandoned.
It was fun watching you both& I look forward to seeing this podcast!! ✌️🩷

I loved this and will DEFINITELY be watching your new podcast.
Also, fellow mom here, when your little one cries at night it may not always be for food or a diaper change it may just be for comfort, so you are not suppose to sleep train that young. Sleep training is more for the ages of 1-2 when they start manipulating you at nap and bedtimes to hold them longer or to come in and pick them up when they get upset. You have to teach them they cannot get their way and must go to bed. I am currently doing this with my two year old. He went through many sleep regressions but would still put himself to bed. During his most recent sleep regression I started rocking him for up to 20 minutes to get him relaxed and ready to fall asleep and it has turned into him wanting to be rocked to sleep every night instead of falling asleep on his own. So now we are starting the sleep training. Sleep training is hard. But necessary, had to do it with my first son too.

That being said I did get distracted halfway through and only realised I hadn't watched the end 7 hrs later when I opened UA-cam again. BUT my kids are in their early 20s so I'm a bit out of the sleep regress stage (no I'm not 60,babies having babies and all that 🤦). All this triggered and training your baby and putting them on a schedule is fine if you are parents like Ryland and Shane and have nannies so can keep a rigorous schedule. But when you are a mom and dad doing it solo you can forget it. And all you get is depriving yourself from so many memories and things you could be doing instead of some schedule. I mean i live Ryland but when i see they had a total of 4 birthday cakes and let it be known that their kids didnt eat candy or cake i thought omg... Enough! Look a baby will sleep when hes tired than you sleep. None of us that had kids your age never had a schedule. You ate when you were hungry, you slept when you were tired and eventually everyone gets on the same schedule. This is nuts. Enjoy the baby. Somedays you might not like him but youll always love him. And the only training we did was like dad said was potty training.

i feel like sleep training is completely up to the parents. i never sleep trained my daughter (she’s 14 months and sleeps totally fine) but i know that’s not how it is a majority of the time. Some parents don’t have a choice and have to. If there’s anything i’ve learned about parenting is you have to do what you feel best in your heart for your baby. you know your baby the best. being a mom is so scary and it’s even worse when everyone on the internet has an opinion on what to do and thinks they know best. just know we are all killing it as moms ❤️

From one mother to another mother.
I did the best I could with what I knew at the time with my first child. I slogged the new born stage to age 1,2,3 now 4 winging my daughter’s routine and adapted to what fit us best! I knew my daughter que and followed a google search and doctors who ever time schedule of what awake windows should be for each age ect. And yes over the past 4 years I have heard majority of negative comments about ‘sleep training’ and thought shieeet it must be bad blah blah blah. Long story short I’m now pregnant with my second and to hell what anyone thinks. If I feel I want to sleep train my second (I’ll cross that bridge when I get there) I bloody will. In a gentle way though of course.
I’m from Australia and have followed “The midwife mumma” for maybe 2 years now and she is Aussie and a sleep consultant and she has completely changed my view on things and has helped drown out all the BS that comes with it. Much love girl ❤❤

Before even watching I can confidently say that what you SHOULD do... Is try a couple things, then, whatever works best for YOUR family and YOUR own personal well being and health... That's the thing you should do. Love, support, and encouragement for continued strength always ❤

Oh I love you and your dad together! I love how you both are squirrels! I was laughing and then crying! I didn’t have a dad growing up so seeing this duo is incredible special and how lucky to have such an opened minded dad who loves you fiercely. As a mom of 3 I love this idea of parenting advice with you and your dad! ❤

‘Can Ryland show me?’ ‘Ok Dad, back to me.’ All of these conversations are great. Lizzie chose violence since she was a baby. 😂 Chucking the bottle as a baby is hilarious! I love your Dad saying triggering. Love this!

I have memories of having terrors like that as a child. I screamed nobody came. When I look back I see a brave terrified little girl feeling abandoned . Then looking closer I taught myself there is nothing to be afraid of, all I need is me to feel safe and secure. I think you do what's best for you and your schedule. The only way to do it is to do what's right for you in that moment. I loved hearing your affirmations for Billy and his ability to adapt to new schedules . You are doing it right girl. ( he's your baby boy and if you want to pick him up when he's crying girl do that, and if you don't do that too) it won't ruin his life. 😉 Promise.

I would DIE for this podcast. I am so much you and your dad is so my dad except we’ve never had emotional conversations but I’d love to and I know this is exactly how they’d be. This is healing ❤ When you teared up over him being outside at night destroyed me as a boy mom and as a daughter with a father.

Lizze do you have the Wonder Weeks app? I like the terminology that they're sleep PROgressions because they're learning and processing something & therefore their sleep is affected.
My kids are 5 & 8 and I never sleep trained or sleep shaped, I just boobed and cuddled and got nap trapped.
My parents never sleep trained me or my older brother either, I remember my Mum saying "you'll never regret the time you spent cuddling & comforting your baby".
Ferber himself regrets his own methods that sleep training is based on.

“In order to get Ryland to help you need to get him on the phone and in order to get him on the phone you need Ryland’s help.” As someone who is also technologically impaired I found this hilarious 😂😂😂

    “you’re doing great, kid”
It has a great personal touch!

This was so sweet! ❤ I loved listening. As a person who wants kids one day, I’m looking through the lens of learning through your experiences and tips as a mom. But, I think having your dad as part of the podcast adds some humor and relatability. (I also have a dad who loves corny dad jokes). Excited for more!

Yes sleep train! We did it with our oldest at around 3 months because he hit a big sleep regression. He was so tired and so were we. Best decision ever! I used the Ferber method but choose what works best for you all of course. He is so good at sleeping and he knows how to put himself back to sleep when he wakes in the night and he is 2 now. It was challenging in its own ways but worth it!

And i really feel that by patterns it is meant routines in general, as opposed to chaos. Estimates, not alarms going off. You can’t compare yourself to ryland, they’re not feeding as you are, both parents are working full time and they have hired help who work certain hours. 😊

At first, I just chuckled because your dad is so silly in such a wonderful way, and I just love him. But then I got sad and a little worried about you being so scared at night in bed. But once your dad admitted that when he was little, his parents put him outside at night, in the dark, by himself, I cried with you. That's such a horrible thing to do to a child, and knowing your own father was treated that way is kinda devastating. I wanted to give you both hugs. 🫂And I agree with others here. "You're doing great, kid," would be an excellent name for the podcast.

I love love love it!!! I’m so happy you are talking PARENTHOOD with your dad. It’s so awesome to get a dad’s POV and also from a different generational POV. Raising babies now is so unlike anything what our own parents did and what their parents did and it truly is so interesting to pick their brains about it! I’m so excited for this podcast! DO THIS LIZZIE 🥰🫶🏽🙌🏽

Lizz, you struck gold! I don't have kids and might not have them in the future, but i really enjoyed it ❤ Such an honest format about subjects that are so serious online. The perspective from different generations is very intruiging! Please make this a thing ❤ my best new years wishes to you all 🎉❤🎉🎉
