No? Bad time to sell 40 series cards, prices are low due to the recent product refresh with the supers. The performance jump from 4070 to 4070S isn't worth spending money on either, never upgrade below 25% performance difference, ideally 50% or more. If you want to upgrade every generation, 50 series is just a few months away. If you prefer to keep hardware for a longer time and want to upgrade right now, 4070 Ti Super would probably be the next worthwhile step up. Fairly futureproof with the 16 gigs, and power consumption is higher but nothing outlandish. On average 36% faster than the 4070.
So, from what I'm seeing, there's a 15-20% performance increase going from the 4070 to the 4070S... In general, the results are depressing. Cyberpunk 2077 without path tracing (Paf tracing) - 60 and 73 frames. Alan Wake 2 with minimal tracing and medium-high settings in general - 42 and 49 frames. Hogrwards on ulras at least, but 49 and 55 frames. I understand that you can enable frame generation (frame genereish) and all that, but in fact even with DLSS the maps have no margin of "strength". I'm just thinking about getting a 4070 S and a 2k monitor, but damn, in a year and a half I'll be playing on medium. And we are talking about cards of the highest "echelon". At the moment 4070 Super ranks 8th in performance among all released NVidia cards to date, and she without frame generation can not provide 60 fps in 2k resolution at maximum settings. Tracing and max textures are important to me, I want to see everything that development has put into the game: textures, detail, light, reflections and so on. But it turns out that even 4070 S even for 2k is enough with a stretch, only through frame generation you can get 70-80 fps in these games. Tough.
*Your results were inconsistent across diff videos* Simple Example: Forza Horizon 4070 - 135fps VS 4070 S - 160fps 4070 S - 139fps VS 4070 Ti - 153fps ???
what this video does prove is that newer titles are either very resource hungry or very badly optimised, as the 4070s isn't outperforming the 4070 by a great deal on the latest titles like Alan Wake, Starfield or Hogwarts. Perhaps it's those missing 4gb vram and the sub 256bit bus being required much more in modern titles.

that was the 4070ti they wanted to sell as the 4080 12GB
thats was the 4070 ti
I bought a 4070 last september should i sell it and upgrade to the super version?
Thx for response.
Rtx 4070 super looks promising 👌
So, from what I'm seeing, there's a 15-20% performance increase going from the 4070 to the 4070S...
Right now, an MSI RTX 4070 2x Ventus 12GB OC will run you about $550 on Newegg,
while the MSI RTX 4070 Super 2x Ventus 12GB OC will run you about $610 on Newegg,
just a hair better than a 10% cost increase, worth the investment IMO...

In my country the RTX 4070 costs 520 euros, the Super variant costs 600, you give 13.3333% more money to get around 15% more performance which is honestly fair, if you don't think the fact it has only 12gb of VRAM.
It's not fair imo since the 4070 do fine at 1440p and the super doesnt make lot of difference at that resolution
If you truly think that in the future 12GB VRAM in xx70 tiers are enough for 1440p max details, take a look at Alan Wake 2, TLOU, and Avatar even using DLSS
Ratchet and Clank with RT on at 4k and upscallers on also like DLSS - FSR Quality eats over 16gb vram lmao. and few other game that using close to 15gb vram at 4k.

Tough.
you should include 4070ti in the comparison
Isn’t there a 4070ti super coming? I believe that one is same price then 4080 super is 999 which is less than 4080

what this video does prove is that newer titles are either very resource hungry or very badly optimised, as the 4070s isn't outperforming the 4070 by a great deal on the latest titles like Alan Wake, Starfield or Hogwarts.
