I was expecting the shadow to be like a stalker that caused Susan's accident or something.... this was beautiful, in a heartbreaking way.
I was really expecting something sinister to happen to the baby resulting in Ann being able to stick around longer.
That honestly would've been a twist in the vein of M. Night Shyamalan if the author had gone that direction. Have it turn out that his wife's shadow grew jealous and killed her so she could have him to herself, and then killed every single person she was transferred to, to stay.

Okay, I was very much not expecting what I thought was going to be a straightforward horror story to take such an emotionally impactful turn.

Surprised his own shadow didnt catch on and get mad about her revealing the shadow world to him
So in this world Shadows are sentient and they get assigned new people when the last one dies, just like reflections in Infinity Train♡

I listen to almost all of your stories and enjoy a good 99 percent of them. However I very rarely ever comment on them because I don't feel the need. But to the writer of this story, this is a beautiful story and keep up the good work.
Well, that was surprisingly wholesome. It reminds me of a short film called “Vanessa in the Garden” from a Twilight-Zone-similar show called Amazing Stories.

I've been with my wife since high school in 1986. We married in 1990 and had 4 wonderful children. Though most of our children have moved away and are financially out of reach. We have 5 beautiful grandkids now. One of which we are blessed to have in our lives daily.
This story was sad and sweet and hopeful. I don't know what I would do without my beautiful wife next to me every day.

There's no saying where the next person she's assigned to will live, or if there would be any punishment for her to do so. Plus she seems like a really sweet 'person' so don't think she'd do that.

I have to say that story did not go at all like I expected it was a happy sad ending and I am okay with that
If shadows are sentient in this universe, then could Anne and the protagonists shadow theoretically trade, idk, hosts? Is that an option? Or would that break rules to be able to interact with your own shadow like the villain from The Princess and the Frog?

19:32 alright man take a few deep breaths and get to work you only have until night
Step one go buy a sword
Step to take it to a priest or the equivalent of a priest from any belief you want And have them bless the sword
Step three Practice a bit with it till you get a hang of it you dont have much time so don't over train because you need all the energy you have
Step four get your hands on some holy water or the equivalent
Step 5 buy some energy drinks and chug them 20-30 mins before the dark for the boost maybe enevn take a nap for 10 mins
And youre done with the prep as soon as she walks in slam the door throw the holy water at her to get the upper hand and charge at it and scream "die you beast of the darkness" or some other thing you've came up with or read before
But if you really want to hear her out still do all the prep but instead of attacking her keep your holy sword and holy water at the ready and set yourself in a strategic position so you can defend yourself faster than you can blink whose to say she won't try to eat your soul immediately after explaining her thing to you
