Dude this is great Info. I’m about to replace all of my front brake cobra r set up to the Cadillac or Corvett now on my 1987 for mustang!!!!! Thanks bro!!!!
So the spindles didn’t change at all from 96-04? Bc I have 98 GT spindles on my 93 n I had to grind my spindles just a hair to fit 99-04 calipers.i kno the 94/95’s were a little different but only the location of the tie rods.
Did you ever get the FTR adapter? I haven’t ordered but have tried to contact them with no response. Sounds like a lot of people have been jobbed by them this last year from their Facebook page.
Yes it took 6 months. And they never responded to any of my emails, trouble tickets, or DM on IG. Terrible customer support, i have since then sold the FTR hardware and still selling the s550 calipers.
@@EscortSportage Thanks, I’m glad I haven’t ordered them then. It would be nice to run the 14” rotors but I think I’m going with the Cadillac ones with 13” rotors that don’t need an adapter.
@@Archangel3083 I have 14 inch rotors, ad the s550 calipers plus i have the 14inch s197 brake hardware for sale as well. I also decided to go caddy brembo 13inch 4pot hardware up front.
Comments: The 03-04 Cobra brakes are no different than are the earlier Cobras. Also, there will come a point when the brakes overwhelm the grip and you'll need to start thinking about ABS.
Hey bud I'm having trouble trying to find the caliper bracket to use for the corvette calipers to sn95 spindles. Could you send me a link or direct me to the right place please. Also what brake lines did you use?
The bracket you need is a Z51 bracket do you have IG? I can send you pics with part numbers. Brakes lines are just new copper nickel and brake hoses are MM SS braided.
Maybe cheaper, the s917 requires less work, Iam selling the s197 setup if you want it, having an 18 inch wheel is a must but shaving the caliper will depend on wheel design. I have to shave them for my wheels.
So 03/04 cobra brakes are great, and plenty for most foxbody owners. I never got the chance to try the Corvette calipers and sold them. Havnt tried the s197 setup either and the s550 setup didn’t fit my wheels (I’m selling all of that if you want it) I’m going to go with the Cadillac ATS setup.

Did you find out?
@@hustonhall2271 completely forgot lol
Would you happen to have the s197 adapter brackets for sale by any chance?
Yes i have the 14inch s197 stuff for sale
Great information.. I wish I knew about S197 upgrade kit for SN95 spindle before 03-04 caliper upgrade on my foxbody Mustang
I’m selling the s550 and s197 brake setups

Not that i know of, the 96-04 spindles are a better choice for aftermarket k members while the 94/95 are better for a stock k member
What set up did you go with?
I’m currently on the Brembo caddy ATS up front and the Taurus in the rear.

Totally agree. People don’t realize the “tires stop the car”
What master cylinder and proportioning valve did you use for the 03-04 cailpers? I did the swap but brakes are very soft.
I use a wilwood prop valve and… my MC is from MM i believe it’s part number # BMC-4. I will double check that for you.
