The song is about the superficial distractions people use to avoid uncomfortable truths, i.e., delusion helps people cope, to "hide" from reality. Geezer's lyrics touch on consumerism, materialistic pleasures, and what is ultimately the emptiness of these pursuits in a world that often prioritizes illusions and conformity over authenticity and inner peace. The continued desire for more is symbolized by the cornucopia, a symbol of abundance.

As I say on almost every Sabbath clip you play Geezer is the secret weapon. His bass is hard and melodic and really moves/grooves the song!

Ozzy's patented wraith-like wails begin to come into their own on anguished rockers like "Tomorrow's Dream" and "Cornucopia"... The album marked Tony Iommi’s first venture as a producer, nailing a sound as hazy as the cover. “The first three albums could’ve all been from the same batch really, but [Vol. 4] was when we started introducing different things,” Iommi said. - excerpts from AllMusic and Loudwire

wealth is a double-edged sword. it can relieve you of many of the worries of life, but it can also become your master, so that you cannot function without it and cannot appreciate the simple things as much. when you have a cornucopia of good things in your life, you don't enjoy them as much as the 17-year-old enjoys his first car that he saved up for with his first job.

Love the way La picks up on Bill's jazz stuff, in between when he's wailing on the drums. Laguna Sunrise next, always good to keep in mind how these sounded when listening thru the original album. And waiting to see rxn to Under the Sun, one of my favorites.

This song is about how people are easily deceived by wealth and materialistic desires. These people will eventually go insane because of prosperity. The cornucopia (horn of plenty) is a symbol of abundance from Greek mythology. Geezer Butler reportedly wrote it when he heard on the radio that “only” 25 men had been killed in Vietnam that week.

Hope you both find the chance to review the "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" album released back in 1973 by 'Sabbath'. "A National Acrobat" a track from the album is smokin' hot. The repeating heavy riffs sink deep down in your soul. The British bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Humble Pie just to name a few of several more formed in the late '60's ruled back in the day. 🎤🎸🥁🔊⚡🔥☮🎧

When we got their first album, not long after it came out, it was pretty shocking to us rockers but we loved it, all our parents hated it. One afternoon we were blasting it in my friends bedroom when his father burst in, yelling 'what the Hell you listening too?' Just then 'Lucifer' came out of Ozzy's mouth and that was it, he screamed: 'You will all rot in Hell for listening to this shit', grabbed the record off the turntable and broke it over his knee! He threw us out, once we got away from the house, we started laughing, we got it, they, not so much. So next day my friend buys a cassette copy to play in his car, LOL! My father's generation just could not deal with rock and especially hard rock or metal, it did not compute to them.

Definitely agree. I've rarely seen anyone reacting to this live album which might not have been sanctioned by Sabbath but heck I believe it represents Sabbath in their primeval heaviness that they are renowned for. I remember listening to this album to the point of obsession and to the point of the neighbouring families fleeing their abodes having been subjected to raw Sabbath in its finest. 'Nuff said.

    This album is a grower.
Not a bad song on it.
The only thing that prevents me from loving this album is the messy production.
It's very mid rangey(if that's a word) and BIll Ward's drums don't sound right to me.
But I'm being knit picky. It is a great album.
Just not as good as Sabotage or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
