Top dollar is paid for vivid red Burmese rubies. This one is nice, to be sure, but nowhere near vivid red. It’s pinkish red and moderately included. But it’s big, so all in all I think it could find a buyer at 8-10m. 20m? Not in this market
Yeah I agree. I think its also complete contingent on where in Burma it came from. If its Mong Hsu, maybe 3-4,000,000, but even that is a bit high. Mogok? Probably more close to the $8,000,000 range. If its Mong Hsu heat-only probably $1.5-2,5,000,000. Mogok rubies don’t get treatment really, in Burma they say they are already perfect. If it is, as they said in the video, the depth of a Cherry off camera then its not going to be vivid red, it will be purplish red. Which will push it into the “Ngashint thwe” or eels blood color, although it looks more pink here so it could be htonkyauk color which is pinkish red. The clarity also isn’t impressing me too much, its phayaung, which is wax like clarity. I think $20,000,000 is extremely generous, the $1m+ a carat rubies usually have to hit 5 marks: Mogok origin (CMT Type I), No treatment (NTE), kho thwe color (Vivid red, ‘pigeons blood’), over 10 carats, and hman clarity (clear and transparent).

What they call traffic light red is on the lower end of the pigeon blood scale, pigeon blood actually refers to it's flourescence and undertones and I can tell you for certain the more orange to pink a stone gets the more it's value drops.

You know I managed to find this cherry 🍒 in Ruby of 13 carats. with those beautiful cedas in Emerald cut. indeed it does look beautiful. but I lean more towards the Burmese Pigeon Blood I have barely no more than 4 Pigeon Blood Rubys and no more than 10 carats. the smallest is just 4.65 carats. They really are so hard to find. although it is also rare to find. this same pigeon blood color. from Mozambique and Madagascar. I'm having a hard time finding these rarities greetings from Connecticut USA

that's more pink than red so it is not a ruby it is a pink sapphire! Also only unheated pigeon blood red ruby costs $1 million dollars per carat so you are overpricing it. If that goes on sale on Sotheby's or Christies it will only sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

That's a particular type of inclusion that is found in ruby.
