Tickles me how every time you drive past that cow you say, "Hey Panda". It kinda reminds me of that old cartoon where the sheep dog and the wolf would say, hey to each other, and then clock in for work.

Just noticing the views from around your farm. That really is a beautiful corner of the world! Your farm has so many "picture post card" shots it's amazing. Things that remain from previous generations seem like they have been placed there just for the scenic effect. Not everything has been cleaned up and organized. It's beautiful!

You both make me laugh out loud. When Lawrence keeps talking while walking away from the camera and you have to translate for him, it makes me laugh and smile. He is a keeper, and so are you and the kids. My cattle memories are being present for branding, and giving shots to the calves on a southern Oregon cattle ranch. I don't remember exactly but they probably cut the bull calves. All in all it was a noisy day.

That's how I check the fuel in my 52 B! That's how we put hay wagons in the barn to unload them- to hard to back in hooked to the back of the tractor! Also had a 4x4 mounted on the front of the tractor, so we could get against the wagon and push it in! That is a rock rake, you make a crown, so the water runs off to the sides instead of down the road!

  • @merlinbruna1497

Watching your husband sticking the radiator to see if it is full enough reminded me when I was 2 years old. I had watched my gpa dump a bucket of water in the radiator in his old Allis Chalmers tractor. So I was going to help him while he was drinking his boiled coffee out of his saucer. I couldn't reach the radiator but I saw a cap back by the steering wheel. So I crawled up and dumped water in the fuel tank. The tractor still ran. Course I probably didn't get much in the fuel tank.
Reference your daughter riding bareback reminded me of when I was 5. We were visiting friends on their farm in Montana. One day I was riding a pony bareback and I was barefoot. I rode him down by the creek, the horse went under a low branch and I was knocked off. I had no way to get back on so I had to run back to the house through a sticker patch.

    You know it’s coming,
    There’s mud on the ground,
The last of the hay is baled and carted,
Little wobbly calflets are appearing in every paddock,
And acorns are falling like large brown hailstones.
The leaves are turning....red and gold and crimson,
    It’s the best of times.....
There’s still some warmth in the low autumn sunshine
But we all know Wintertime is just around the corner.

Enjoy your videos! We raise beef cattle in Iowa. Your stories make me realize the challenges and joys are the same in North Carolina as Iowa. It would be good if you would get a feed hoper that automatically unloads in your Kawasaki. You would have to time the feed being discharged at unloading to get the correct amount to each group of cattle. I have lifted many pails like you have. I now see the doctor regularly for back problems. I have paid for an automatic unloader in doctor bills. Keep making the great videos. David Hodgden

Bengal Fire Ant Killer. Its a powder you sprinkle on top of the mound. Works great for us here in West TN. And something else I find interesting is they only build on the south side of things. Whether it be the south side of a post, tree, or ditch bank. Good luck & stay on top of those pesky lil devils. Farm on & live well.

We've been naming beef critters since I was a kid. For some reason my sister never likes my names. For the ladies, we use female names like "Molly", "Gertie", etc and for the bulls names like "Leroy", "Booger", etc, but for the steers, they get the best names . . . . Steak, Quarterpounder, Whopper, etc

When my dad or cousin hooked up to a wagon where they couldn't see the hitch, I shook my head 'yes' as they was backing up (or hooking up to the front tractor hitch). As they got closer & closer I would shake my head slower & slower. As the holes lined up i'd shake my head 'no'. Worked out great when they couldn't hear me or see the hitch very well. Hooked up many silage wagons that way.

I have a friend who use to work with 4H kids on backing farm wagons. They have a competition at the county fair. They have to back the wagon through a course. I think they only do a single wagon, but my friend said that with a little practice he use to be able to do the course with two wagons. I personally have enough trouble with one when I have to do it.
