I am subscribing to follow your journey of this young prodigy. I first listened to her over 6 years ago, and now a day doesn't go by that I don't listen to a few of her songs. She sings with more feeling and emotion than any other artist I've heard in my 68 years. Not only is she an amazing singer, she is an amazing humanitarian also. From her reason for always singing barefoot in public, to the millions of dollars she's helped raise for needy children, she is definitely heaven sent.
If you can, you should react to each of the NGT performances in order a few months apart. You can see the growth with aech performance better than the previous one. This growth continues to this day and probably into the future. I am a 72 year old jazz musician and I have never seen anyone like her. I hope to live a while longer to see her career blossom with original music and hopefully revisit her jazz roots as well. Enjoy!

I am talking about jazz queen Billie Holiday, she said to the Norwegian television channel TV 2. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday " that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. Her biggest early influence was Billie Holiday. I hope you continue to listen to Angelina. You will be in for quite a ride. So many great performances to choose from including her original songs. I’m sure other listeners will provide many suggestions, including links, as well as quite a lot of background information such as to why she performs barefoot. I'm also subscribing to watch your discovery of Angelina Jordan. It was a very meaningful discovery for me and I've watched others be blown away by her devine gift of song. She has an amazing ability to calm the listener with her voice and presence. Angelina can with ease conquer any genre and make any song hers, even if the original was sung by an icon. Angelina was very prolific from the ages of seven to seventeen and you can't go wrong choosing which performance to do next. Some people suggest doing it chronologically, I don't agree, you must hear what this little prodigy sounds like now and then hear and see everything she's done between. Ole. Thanks so much for that little story of her mom's reaction in regard to the sad tears. I've seen that clips dozens of times before and always simply thought of it as a proud mom's reaction. To now hear that she was realizing at that moment that she had lost her daughter forever to the world at large has me in tears, probably because of how true that must be.

She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. I just discovered you two and I’ll be with you on your journey with Angelina. I just subscribed. From age 7 to now age 17 she just never stops growing as a musical genius. In my 73 years I’ve never been this devoted to a musical artist. I saw Elvis on tv in 1956 and never forgot it(she sings the soul out of his songs, you’ll see). Great reaction, guys. One of the very few good things to come out of COVID was the that many people, myself included, stumbled onto Angelina while surfing youtube during lockdown. As they say, even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut. Based on the gear in the background, I'm going to assume you are musicians as well. You are going to absolutely love this journey of exploration through what she has done. Long story short, while recognizing her prodigious talent, her family wanted, first and foremost, for her to have as normal a childhood as possible. From what I understand, she was pestering her mom to go onto a talent show to sing for quite some time. At first mom said no, you are too young, and she was. But it seems she eventually prevailed and convinced her mom to enter her into the Norway's got Talent show. You just saw the debut performance there. A pretty white dress, hardly any teeth in her mouth and wild hair like one of those trolls you put on top of your pencil as a kid. And what came out of her mouth was nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful. But you already know that. As the story goes, she received lots of offers shortly after the NGT show, but her family turned them all down. No robbing Angelina of being a regular kid with friends, and normal school etc. Only she was a phenomenal singer. And so she performed occasionally in concerts that were fundraisers for children's causes, usually, and in summer music festivals. Outside of these events, her outlet to get her music out there was recording herself singing, usually at home, and uploading the videos to youtube. So, there are loads of these from when she was little. I have had the time of my life going through them and I have a feeling you will as well. It is really a chronicle of how she has developed, if you want to look at it that way. But also, just a huge collection of incredible songs. You will get tons of recommendations. You cant really go wrong any way you want to approach it. Some have done a chronological take, others jump around to whatever song catches their fancy. At least do the 4 songs from NGT in order. For everyone who thinks "why does a 7 year old girl sing a song like that??? " Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on UA-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. Angelina is well aware of her talent, she controls everything with her music. I am 70 years old and she is the greatest either male or female singer that i have ever encountered. I still can't believe she didn't win the show. I'm thinking she didn't want to sign away her recording rights because she was far and away the biggest talent on the show. Her vision of Bohemian Rhapsody brought the house down. The only artist I have ever been able to listen to every day for 8 years. That's because no 2 songs are the same. Every genre...all the great artists. The next one you should listen to in this competition for the contrast is BANG BANG ( the Kill Bill song) by Nancy Sinatra. Her improvement through the competition is breathtaking. She is 7 in the audition 8 by her winning Summertime. Then later that year her spectacular WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKE. In a huge outdoor concert with backing singers Its....breathtaking

I'm 83. I am totally non-musical. And yet, I was captivated with her NGT debut 10 years ago, and take a daily therapeutic dose of Angelina, not for my body but for my soul. She was born with a full catalog of human emotions that she could relate to without having experienced them herself, which is why she can sing with such feeling in every song. Add to that her perfect pitch, her musicality, her timbre, her contralto to at least mezzo-soprano range, her command of rasp, growl, scream, vibrato, breath, tempo, etc. and etc. Then to all of that add her humanity, her humanitarianism, her generosity, her humility---how much can one person embody perfection. I cannot imagine her as a petulant child, refusing her broccoli, sassing her mother, refusing to go to bed. As a teenager, where is the angst? Okay, maybe her blue contacts are the extent of her "rebellion." I do worry about her perfection--the world doesn't tolerate it, but I am going to enjoy the hell out of it while I can.

The judges of NGT 2014 had no idea who the diminutive, mussy haired (Amy Winehouse), barefooted, and snagletoothed child was. What has followed in her career so far are 180+ cover performances and 5 originals, and she just turned 17 this year. She will be graduating high school this year as well. I am subscribing to follow your journey of this young prodigy. I first listened to her over 6 years ago, and now a day doesn't go by that I don't listen to a few of her songs. She sings with more feeling and emotion than any other artist I've heard in my 68 years. Not only is she an amazing singer, she is an amazing humanitarian also. From her reason for always singing barefoot in public, to the millions of dollars she's helped raise for needy children, she is definitely heaven sent.

If you can, you should react to each of the NGT performances in order a few months apart. You can see the growth with aech performance better than the previous one. This growth continues to this day and probably into the future. I am a 72 year old jazz musician and I have never seen anyone like her. I hope to live a while longer to see her career blossom with original music and hopefully revisit her jazz roots as well. Enjoy!

Welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan, you will be impressed, you need to review all the rest of the performances from NGT. You will hear more Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra and a great cover of Summertime. She started listening to Jazz at the age of 1 1/2 and covers 80-90 artist and is know as the artist with a 1,000 voices, every cover is different some truer to the original, but most are rearranged by her into her style. She also has five originals and will be publishing her 1st professional album this year, at the age of 17.

WOW!! From Steely Dan to ANGELINA!! This song originally performed by her favorite artist, Billie Holiday... it's a song about suicide... So when the judge asked her if she knew what the song was about.. in her sweet innocence (and her LOVE of jazz) she responded "It's about a sad Sunday"... She eventually wins by singing Gershwin's "Summertime"... This is classic jazz, Angelina's wheelhouse.. but she covers Ella, Whitney, Elvis, James Brown, Michael Jackson, etc.
You'll eventually come to the conclusion she's a PRODIGY... Why? Well, she was singing "I Will Always Love You" @ 1 1/2 yrs old... And you'll never doubt her talent as her band call her "The Boss" for a very good reason, as she does her arrangements. The reason I chose this song is totally random. I love jazz, but " Gloomy Sunday " was accidental. It was a night I could not sleep and my mom was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed mum's iPad where I would listen to jazz on UA-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and closed eyes. I am talking about jazz queen Billie Holiday, she said to the Norwegian television channel TV 2. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday " that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood very well what the text was about because I understand English. Every time I sang it, I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for my mom, she said that this song is nice, but it was an incredibly sad song.

Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8 yrs old after starting the competition at 7 yrs old. The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. Her next performance was a beautiful rendition of 'Bang, Bang' by Sonny & Cher and performed most famously by Nancy Sinatra. She won the competition with what I consider her first Masterpiece performance of 'Summertime' by George Gershwin. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rd language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with Japanese and some German and perhaps more. They finally signed with Republic Records about three years ago after getting a deal that gave her control of her artistic vision and has since released 2 originals, 'Million Miles' & '7th Heaven' plus a soundtrack for the New Movie "The Hating Game" which opens with her song 'Mercy' performed most notably by Duffy. Republic has labeled her their Highest Priority and assigned a team to her including Rob Christy a multiple Grammy Winner, often on the piano in many of her performances and a whole team of equally qualified professionals. She has worked with some of the best musicians in the industry and always get exactly what she wants. They call her the Boss and have immense respect for her. The artists you have mentioned, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse were all influences on Angelina. She has covered songs by all of them. Her biggest early influence was Billie Holiday.

I'm also subscribing to watch your discovery of Angelina Jordan. It was a very meaningful discovery for me and I've watched others be blown away by her devine gift of song. She has an amazing ability to calm the listener with her voice and presence. Angelina can with ease conquer any genre and make any song hers, even if the original was sung by an icon. Angelina was very prolific from the ages of seven to seventeen and you can't go wrong choosing which performance to do next. Some people suggest doing it chronologically, I don't agree, you must hear what this little prodigy sounds like now and then hear and see everything she's done between. You'll notice the last judge (the one with his mouth open) asked her if she knew what the song was about. I believe he was asking to see if she was aware of the history of the song. That's because 'Gloomy Sunday' is known to history as 'The Hungarian Suicide Song' and was banned in parts of Europe during WWI because many believed the song had led to a rash of suicides in the population. Angelina, unaware of this at the time, I'm sure, simply replied Yes, it's about a sad Sunday and I think the judge was pleased to realize she had a simple child's view of the song and it's meaning. Thus the comment in essence Yes I could feel that sad sunday. Amazing Angelina would start her career with such a controversial song. I'm guessing she has since learned the history and it would be interesting to hear what she would think about it today. Color me curious. ♥👣👸🏻

Ole. Thanks so much for that little story of her mom's reaction in regard to the sad tears. I've seen that clips dozens of times before and always simply thought of it as a proud mom's reaction. To now hear that she was realizing at that moment that she had lost her daughter forever to the world at large has me in tears, probably because of how true that must be.

Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy.
She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond.
Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. From age 7 to now age 17 she just never stops growing as a musical genius. In my 73 years I’ve never been this devoted to a musical artist. I saw Elvis on tv in 1956 and never forgot it(she sings the soul out of his songs, you’ll see). Angelina arranges her own songs and tells the songs story in a way that has meaning and emotion. Great reaction, guys. One of the very few good things to come out of COVID was the that many people, myself included, stumbled onto Angelina while surfing youtube during lockdown. As they say, even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut. Based on the gear in the background, I'm going to assume you are musicians as well. You are going to absolutely love this journey of exploration through what she has done. Long story short, while recognizing her prodigious talent, her family wanted, first and foremost, for her to have as normal a childhood as possible. From what I understand, she was pestering her mom to go onto a talent show to sing for quite some time. At first mom said no, you are too young, and she was. But it seems she eventually prevailed and convinced her mom to enter her into the Norway's got Talent show. You just saw the debut performance there. A pretty white dress, hardly any teeth in her mouth and wild hair like one of those trolls you put on top of your pencil as a kid. And what came out of her mouth was nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful. But you already know that. As the story goes, she received lots of offers shortly after the NGT show, but her family turned them all down. No robbing Angelina of being a regular kid with friends, and normal school etc. Only she was a phenomenal singer. And so she performed occasionally in concerts that were fundraisers for children's causes, usually, and in summer music festivals. Outside of these events, her outlet to get her music out there was recording herself singing, usually at home, and uploading the videos to youtube. So, there are loads of these from when she was little. I have had the time of my life going through them and I have a feeling you will as well. It is really a chronicle of how she has developed, if you want to look at it that way. But also, just a huge collection of incredible songs. You will get tons of recommendations. You cant really go wrong any way you want to approach it. Some have done a chronological take, others jump around to whatever song catches their fancy. At least do the 4 songs from NGT in order. Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on UA-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. At age 17 she is today just as adorable and talented as she was here. I am so happy you did this and mentioned her performance at age six which was outstanding. I also hope that when they pick a video to watch her AGT performance that they watch it through to the end after Heidi gives her critic. There are many, many wonderful video's of her singing from ages 8 thru 13. They are not good, they are sensational and mind blowing! Some of her fans (her 'angels') will be sending you all kinds of data (playlists and bio's) about her and you will discover so much about her including why she sings barefoot. I get the idea you guys like to listen to 'old' music. You're in for a treat. She sings Louis Armstrong songs, Ella Fitzgerald songs, Dinah Washington, Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Queen, The Righteous Brothers, and on and on. You get the idea. But every year from this debut at 7 til now is just amazing. When Angelina was about 12, I realized that she was the best I’d ever heard, and second place was not even close. I still can't believe she didn't win the show. I'm thinking she didn't want to sign away her recording rights because she was far and away the biggest talent on the show. Her vision of Bohemian Rhapsody brought the house down. I loved the soul she breathed into Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and her final performance of Someone You Loved with the two other performers was the best thing I have seen on the show ever.

Congratulations! You have just taken the lid off a gold mine! I have been following Angelina for some time, and every song she sings is just mind-blowing! I can honestly say she changed my life. She now has over 200 videos in her channel, including five of her original songs. I strongly recommend carrying on through the Norway's Got Talent performances of hers. She has a heart of gold she has worked diligently and produced millions to help with children's needs and environmental things worldwide all before the age of 16, she gave her shoes to a poor child when she was 5 and was the youngest author in Norway with the story about why she performs without shoes. She has produced over 160 covers of all genres and made them all hers while maintaining recognition and loyalty to the original. The only artist I have ever been able to listen to every day for 8 years. That's because no 2 songs are the same. Every genre...all the great artists. The next one you should listen to in this competition for the contrast is BANG BANG ( the Kill Bill song) by Nancy Sinatra. Her improvement through the competition is breathtaking. She is 7 in the audition 8 by her winning Summertime. Then later that year her spectacular WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKE. In a huge outdoor concert with backing singers Its....breathtaking

I'm 83. I am totally non-musical. And yet, I was captivated with her NGT debut 10 years ago, and take a daily therapeutic dose of Angelina, not for my body but for my soul. She was born with a full catalog of human emotions that she could relate to without having experienced them herself, which is why she can sing with such feeling in every song. Add to that her perfect pitch, her musicality, her timbre, her contralto to at least mezzo-soprano range, her command of rasp, growl, scream, vibrato, breath, tempo, etc. and etc. Then to all of that add her humanity, her humanitarianism, her generosity, her humility---how much can one person embody perfection. I cannot imagine her as a petulant child, refusing her broccoli, sassing her mother, refusing to go to bed. As a teenager, where is the angst? Okay, maybe her blue contacts are the extent of her "rebellion."
I do worry about her perfection--the world doesn't tolerate it, but I am going to enjoy the hell out of it while I can.

At 7 years old, her parents had finally relented, letting her audition for the show. The judges of NGT 2014 had no idea who the diminutive, mussy haired (Amy Winehouse), barefooted, and snagletoothed child was. What has followed in her career so far are 180+ cover performances and 5 originals, and she just turned 17 this year. She will be graduating high school this year as well.
Of the links below, be sure to use the URLs provided for NGT 1 and NGT 4 ("Summertime" and "Gloomy Sunday"). The NGT 1 video is of her performing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday. This video has English subtitles on the screen. It has pre- and post-performance content in which Angelina talks about herself (this is the earliest video we have access to that has Angelina speaking about herself). She's so tiny that she twice fails to get into the chair for her interview. I recommend playing this entire video, as this is the first time we got to meet Angelina.
The final performance, NGT 4, has English closed captions. This video has a lot more pre- and post-performance content, which are missing in all other UA-cam links for this performance. The NGT 4 video begins a lot like an AGT spotlight would, featuring the singer. While she now has 2 permanent teeth, side-by-side, she's still so small that her feet stick straight off the edge of the bench she sits upon. She talks about her experiences on the show and what she's about to show us. This is followed immediately by her singing "Summertime" in the style of Ella Fitzgerald's and Louis Armstrong's rendition. The third segment of NGT 4 contains the judges speaking to Angelina about the effect she has left each of them with. Many of their comments are quite prophetic, and they are called to mind again and again whenever I hear her sing. Two of these judges appear alongside Angelina in several UA-cam videos, weeks and months after she won.
The final segment of this NGT video contains the naming of the three highest scoring performer(s), and from there, the naming of the victor. This segment runs almost 5 more minutes.
