Although improvisation does play a big role, you forgot to mention that the outlines are also well written. LD has written a setup and a punchline for each scene that the actors can improvise upon; they just flow more naturally than a Seinfeld episode but the brilliance in his writing is still there, controlling his actors as puppets for his own joke. That's why I liked the early seasons of Curb more. He frequently used people who weren't really professional actors who could still pull off their improvised scenes, and that is largely indebted to how Larry wrote the outline.

Nah, if you watch enough documentaries or all the commentaries for the dvd set you learn all the seasons with Larry....he definitely had a team of tremendous writers who were mostly gone by the time they did the last couple seasons after Larry left. The unscripted nature of Curb makes sense, as many character’s lines (especially Cheryl’s) sound as if they’re wracking their brains, trying to come up with something. It's awesome. Cheryl has quite a few moments: “There’s something... strange...happening.” “It’s a divorce, so... start... packin’ up... ‘cause you’re movin’ out.” I love Larry’s unapologetic quip to Heidi about “the sorry window”. Yess Jeff and Larry build off one another and have great chemistry. The show got much funnier when Leon came on. The banter with Suzi always cracks me up.
This is a great show! I agree with Larry’s perspective on most of the things he remarks on in this show 😂
It’s “weird?” That’s how you describe it? It’s amazing. Weird isn’t how I’d describe it, maybe ten words later after I go through funny and all its synonyms
This left me oddly and unexpectedly inspired. Nice!
Larry isn’t insecure he’s confident in everything he does even when it’s wrong, that’s the point
I think the Polyphonic guy just produces every high-quality polished show on YT and just doesn't tell us
@Nerdstalgic - You’re explanation as to why Curb works without a script, is absolutely spot on. And, your explanation also explains why Curb is one of my Favorite Shows/Series of All Time. Also, in my opinion I also think Curb is one of the Greatest Shows/Series of All Time as well.
Lol, I cant stop laughing at the scene where Michael J. Fox hands him a shaken up soda pop and it explodes all over Larry. That shit is dark.
Larry and Jeff's buddy act in Curb is so cool, you can't help but wish for a friend like Jeff.
Larry David asking Richard Lewis “when are you gonna die”, was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in 52 years of life.
I just started rewatching yesterday! Good timing.
Lol, I've just finished the entire series, cant wait for the next season, I love this show so much
This is the greatest show oh my god
I’m currently editing a curb your enthusiasm inspired Jewish comedy and I’m using this video to inform my editing. Unfortunately we can’t use the second camera footage and the improv isn’t as usable as I would like. The task is incredibly daunting and it takes me hours to stitch together scenes in a combination that makes sense and is funny. Ultimately I’m enjoying it tho.
Will never forget the episode where Larry finds out his mom died
During Covid I binged Seinfeld, enjoyed it but didn’t love it as much as everyone else seems to, started a few episodes of curb and really liked it, then when Leon was introduced it became a top 5 sit com for me.
I recognize this voice , YOU MADE THE “WORKED AT GAMESTOP”VIDEO
