Phil, you genuinely look happy and content now that you have some order in your life and plenty of friends around you and its really lovely to see.
After winter cleanup is hard but so rewarding. Take before and after pictures just for your own satisfaction and to remind you how far you’ve come.
Great idea!
Gee, maybe a video or two😂❤?
Your fire pit looks better than it would have done new.
Considering what the fire pit looked like at the beginning, it looks brand new. Fantastic.
Great to see you so positive & cheery. The grounds are looking beautiful.
Phil, you seem so much happier. The house and grounds are looking better too.
Just keep going. Folks say I’m unable to keep up with my house too but somehow I always manage to hold it all together. I even amaze myself sometimes lol. You are doing great!!
I have often thought that your property needs a groundskeeper, but that would be expensive, and besides, I think you enjoy working in the surrounding yard. Working outdoors with nature can be very therapeutic.
Having volunteers would be very helpful…🏴🇬🇧
You can cut down the trees around the moat. That will eliminate a lot of problems in the moat. Second can you block off the water at the lake point and bypass around the house, transfer fish to the lake while cleaning that part of the moat. Then you can properly install needed fixtures then remove the barrier and water flows again. I know bureaucracies are ridiculous but if you want to save the house it’s necessary. Just my opinion. It’s your chateaux.
I agree, low maintanence is the key to keeping the place beautiful and classy. It would take several full time gardeners on a place as large as yours to keep flower beds tidy. Now if only you could get rid of the coypu damaging your banks that would help a lot.
Amazing, spectacular, wonderful, lovely, beautiful, gorgeous, pretty, spot-on.❤🇨🇦❤️
It CAN be done! You ARE doing it! It's so good to see you upbeat and smiling more, Phil!
You do it your way 👍🤗⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐brilliant fire 🔥 pit👍🤗
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
You’re doing great Phil. I wish you had a small group of people to help you.
The firepit looks great. Maybe Lightning could do a video one day. He obviously has appeal and lots of experience. 😆
One small step is positive. Gives you incentive to do more.
One man and his dog and you are doing a fantastic job Phil and it's looking good take care and do it in your time great firepit 😊🌼🤗
This may be something you've thought of already, but have you considered offering some part time hours to a kid from the local school? Mowing, stacking woods, pulling weeds, or whatever just to give you an occasional extra pair of hands.
I think it can be done Phillip! I like your outlook on simple! I also think sometimes neat and tidy look much better than over doing! Plus I think if you get all the shrub away from the banks hopefully the muskrats will leave! Being by yourself doesn’t always mean lonely! When I make a comment, that’s all it is. Just an old grandma giving ideas! Sometimes old people have good ideas!😂😂😂
Wow, Phil, Shangrila looks even better today! You are cooking! Your palatial estate will be perfect by springtime...grille ready, terrace almost
ready, lawns ready, acres ready...Shazam!!!
As long as you are happy, I think it is great. Love the yard areas. Ok to keep low maintenance, best thing ever to be able to enjoy but not be a slave to the house and grounds.
Lightning 😍. You've got the best friend right there. Have you seen the squirrel? Cannot remember his name. Enjoy the spring, here in eastern middle Finland we still have about 50 cm of snow! 😁
Phil: Could you show us in and a walk around the chapel sometime, please. BTW, the grounds are looking amazing.
That would be great to see the chapel
I think you like that sense of accomplishment. It is a good feeling.
Thank you Phil for filling us in on your plans for the Chateau. I know myself the yard takes a lot of time but is so much easier to take care of when you don't have a lot of things in the yard you have to weedeat around like pots etc. Best of luck on good weather so you can catch up on outdoor work. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Wonderful To See You more Happy Then Before, Your Place is Looking Good ,Get That Patio Ready, I’m Hoping you Will Use that Terrace , Have you Given Up the Pub Business, I’m So Happy Your Doing Well 👌👍👏👏👏👏🥰
Grounds looking good doing little bits at a time soon adds up ❤
You are a smart guy Phil, so I’m sure you will come up with the best maintenance plan for the château!
Great resurrection of the fire pit. Cleaning up the outdoor spaces makes one feel good. Especially before the hot weather. Looking great❤
Smart thinking Phil! Keep on keeping on!
Not sure if I posted this here before, but draining any moat comes with other potential issues, depending on the age of the chateau. Many "castles," with moats, were built on "pilings" made of timber, to keep them upright and level. The water preserves them for a VERY long time. When you remove the water, and dry out the moat, the moisture drains from the pilings and they too dry out and crumble, potentially affecting the foundation of the chateau. If there was an older castle at this location, chances are they used wood pilings as support. If the chateau is relatively newer, then they may not have used wood pilings, but just gravel, stone, and earth.
Enjoy being by yourself, i love living alone, can do what i want to garden and house with out another person having their input.😊😊
I’m curious as to how you’re going to get rid of the koipu(?). They are causing so much damage to the banks of your mote and getting into the drainage system, is that a major concern for you?
It seems as if the local governing agency has something to do with the problem...And I believe that he would cause himself some problems if her drained the moat without permission...See what happened to LaLande..
All the flowerpots on the gras along the driveway means a lot of work to keep it nice around them. Move them on to the gravel instead, on the terrace or the frontyard, with green small "bushes" they will look great with almost no job...
A small VICTORY is still a VICTORY keep your head up Phil and keep up the good work everything will come together with time and perserverance!!
Great job with the firepit!
Simple is easier to keep clean and tidy whether that's inside a home or outside especially when you have to do it on your own and whether or not that's in a Chateau a small or large home, minimalist/simple much easier for anyone
You can do it! One job at a time. Good luck.
Phil. So glad you have a plan of action. Little jobs get things done. Keep your chin up. Love from Australia
Excellent job on refurbishing the fire pit. Looks brand new. Well done. Keep up the great work. Another win. PS: Phil, we, too, know you can bring it back/make it better. It’s what you do. Please, though, enjoy it along the way. You look so much happier now than you did a few months ago. Thanks for bringing us along. Enjoying you from Mexico City.
Now you have to paint the bench... and bright cushions
You know you can do it Phil, you already are! Looking great, both you AND the chateau.
I'm currently taking the opportunity following a burst pipe to strip everything back to bare bones and start afresh the way I want it to be. I feel that you are essentially doing the same thing just on a larger scale. Keep going even on days that you'd rather not x
the best way i can say this Phil i believe in you trust in yourself and enjoy yourself
You're a different bloke... so good to see. You make this place your home and do it your way! As to the boudoir. Knock through - get the bathroom going. The other side would make the best mans dressing area. Leave the colour scheme until you've got it all renovated - it's going to be a cracking gorgeous home for you.
The fire pit looks fab.
The green goo on the moat looks like it has gone a fair bit.
Garden is looking very Spick and span. X
It is looking wonderful! Step by step getting it all done ! 💞
Crack On it looks great and will be even better once you get it cleaned up. I agree, it can be maintained once that initial big job is completed.
You are coping well on your own Phil, you can only do what you can when you can. A s you have shown in pervious vlogs many moons ago everyday is a challenge one way or another to keep a Chateau maintained . It is never ending but you love your home and you are trying to do your best on your own, which I might add you are doing a grand job Phi lxx
Sounds like we don’t need to worry about you.. you’re doing great! I like my space and looks like you’ve got a good balance on things to ✔️😁
Looking great, you're a one-man machine! Bravo!
The fire pit looks fantastic. Order in life does help. Keep doing what you've been doing.
Hi from New York State, USA! I truly enjoy the videos you post! Thank you for today’s candor! I applaud your honesty, yet better applaud that you’re HAPPY!! It’s always good to see you!! 😊
The grounds look good in their natural state without other planting and you can do rooms as and when you want. Enjoy your home and your pub , I think you're doing a fantastic job.
Hi Phil for under your trees try Canada Green grass seed . I used it in shaded areas and spots in my garden. Its brilliant stuff. Works well here in Ireland as it thrives in damp humid areas. Worth a try of you can get hold of it. Cheers
That lovely new burner Hi pup!
You are doing fantastic
Doing fabulous Phil it’s looking great outside now , you can do it 👍🏻
Great job on the fire pit. Your grounds are looking great and soon your spring clean up will be a thing of the past and you will be set to enjoy the summer.
So glad to hear that you are happy, have plenty of friends, still have the bar and a plan to make the chateau manageable to suit your needs. Maybe someday we'll get to see you drain that moat!
Phil you “ small fire pit” project is a huge component to your summer enjoyment. Love the simplifying of the grounds for easier upkeep. 👏
With an attitude like that Phil, you can do anything
Whenever you do the moat I can see a lot of people coming to the channel for that, reminds me of the mapperton pool project but way bigger and intricate which makes for a good series
Phil, thanks for thinking of those new to your Chanel! You are such a kind fellow! I am glad to see you doing so well and happy! So much to be grateful for! Just celebrate YOU!❤
Enjoy the evening in your garden x ❤
Proud for you Buddy! That place is looking great 👍 God bless!! 😊
You are doing great Phil. You have plenty of room to move around and do what you will in. I do agree with the saying about "work smarter and not harder" do more today so that you will have less to do later. Have a wonderful day
Yay for small victories! 👏👏
Yards and gardens don't have to be flowery and fussy. Yes, simple elegance can work.😊😊👍🇦🇺
Love the work you're doing. Give up trying to grow grass under the tree, it'll always be patchy; chuck in some bulbs and ground cover plants. The terrace looks lovely, what about some solar fairy lights strung along the balustrade for Summer evenings? Keep it up, you're great inspiration for us all.
What I noticed about you, Phil, is thatvif ya mates call for help - then you go, if at all possible! So I'm thinking, you could gather up some jobs, that might be hard or timeconsuming, doing alone, and call in your friends to help for a couple of days. That way, the Chateau could be completely ready for summer, and you can very easily maintain it over summer😊
You are definitely on a roll Phil. You have the right tools to really maximize your spring cleanup and simplify the routine maintenance . Can you get any assistance from the local authorities with your wildlife woes? Have you looked into the idea of using small coffer dams to work along the walls of the moat?
You're a rather logical chap. Best wishes for a summer of progress and fulfillment.
Wow Phil so many frustrations and snagging to deal with
Yes I’m sure that eventually you will get permission to drain the lake but the longer it takes to get said permission the more erosion will take place
However, in the meantime the work that you are undertaking is wonderful
and is all adding up to making your home perfect
I love all of your videos. You are my most favorite chateau person EVER. And you look so happy and content .
You should offer your friends to come over and help you with a full day of working on your grounds and at the end of the day you can all set and have drinks together that's what real friendship does. Your little fire pit grill thing turned out great! Well done.
I think you are doing a wonderful job and I see that you are enjoying what you do.. Everything looks so beautiful!
Yah on 52 thousand!!!!
I am enjoying going with you on your gardening and house adventures ty Phil😄
Your home is beautiful. Awsume views. Do you know more history on the Chateau? Just day by day Phil. It's always a process. Keep it simple I say.
Phil! That fire pit is brilliant! Love it! The grounds are coming along beautifully! Great job!
That is a victory! The grounds are looking marvelous 😊And you’re looking much happier . Staying busy and seeing progress does much for inner peace.
The fire pit looks great! Even though it may seem like a small victory… it’s really the little details that make a big difference!
Love to see you happy and taking care of the house and garden. 💋
The firepit turned out fantastic and the property is looking really good. I am sure you still have lots to do, but you will definitely get there. Nice to see what a positive effect is having on you.
I believe you can accomplish anything you put your mind to, Phil. The grounds are looking lovely!
Hi Phil, looks great you have done amazing, good on you. The benches by fire pit, do you have wet and forget spray that will work in the rain..make them white and it kills the mould spores. Enjoy the space, it’s a wonderful property.
Wow love your number of viewers has increased…🥳😍🌈🙏🙋♀️😊🙏
Good on you Phil. I like you from all the way from Sydney Australia. It’s good you are having a go. Thank you. May we all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
It’ll be lovely to see the patio railing and house power washed! It’ll shine like never before. Some cushions on that bench and bam!
I am so pleased for you having 52,000 subscribers. I remember when you were disheartened because you couldn't get over 15,000. And look at you now. We'll done.
Great to hear Phil. Enjoy watching Lightning and you talk to each other. You did answer my question about the moat and whatever else needs answering I will just continue to watch your videos. Carry on mate!
BEST TO YOU
Hello Phil….Bang up job on the out door burner, love it! Enjoyed your appearances with Billy, and happily watch whatever you might be up to on this channel. Thank you for doing what brings you joy. It is lovely to be able to experience. Cheers! 😊
Wonderful to see things going so well for you. You pushed yourself to the other side. I wish I was able to do so well. I'm looking forward to seeing you move into spring and summer.
What a fantastic job on the fire pit and i am sure it will be well used and enjoyed.
Phil takes care of the chateau and still has a life.😊👍
No it’s a huge victory Phil what a fantastic job you’ve done on the fire pit, you should be very proud. One thing ticked off your enormous list slowly but surely!
Looking great 👍
I know you can do it, Phil. You seem happy, and content in your life, home and businesses. The grounds look so much better than they ever were. I know you can maintain the landscaping and little by little you will get the chateau where it makes you happy. You’re in a good place so I’m cheering you on. xx
Hi Phil, anytime you can work smarter not harder is a good thing, the chateau is your home, not your workplace, so take all the steps you need to. So, you can enjoy it and not be a slave to it. A nice start to the terrace. The firepit looks perfect. Love from N.Y.
