Some tips:
Put emphasis on finding wood, food, and wool on your first day.
You don't need shears to get wool, you can just kill the sheep.
If you don't wanna lose your house, you can press f3 in game and write down your coordinates while youre at your house.
You can make charcoal by putting wood in the furnace.
If you use man-made blocks as your floor (ex. Wood planks) and keep your house and the area around it well-lit, little to no mobs will spawn.
You can trade with certain villagers by right clicking on them.
Each piece of coal will cook up to 8 pieces of meat on its own.
Craft an iron pickaxe before you find diamonds since using Wood, Stone, and gold pickaxes will not give you the diamond if you mine it with those.
You can tame wolves with bones.
You can tame cats with raw cod by crouching near them and letting them walk up to you (cats keep creepers away)
If you get lost in a cave you can always dig upwards.
You can take fully grown wheat from villager's gardens (tall and fully golden-yellow) and make bread with it.
Bows are useful against skeletons (you need sticks and strings to craft)
Raw chicken is the only raw meat besides rotten flesh that can poison you.
Making a fishing rod and fishing is an effective way of getting food if you can't find any animals.
Letting your sword meter recharge before hitting again allows a higher damage per second as opposed to just spamming left click.

Also when you go into the cave place torches as you go down so you can see where you’re mining. Mobs won’t spawn in well lit areas so as long as you keep placing torches you should relatively safe
