I recently flew United. I was shocked at how accommodating they were to my insistence that I take my guitar as carry on luggage. After these videos, I know why! Sorry about your Taylor, glad you got two new ones, and thanks for helping me get my guitar home safely!! (btw, I like your music :)
@@dawnrocha666 no, United still sucks. I traveled for a living for decades, 180 days a year in hotels, and unless they changed their ways in the last year or two, United still sucks. Delta is the way. As for a guitar, most airlines can easily accommodate you with a soft case. Either put it in overhead or ask the flight attendants to stow it. It will be thin. I've done both. If you are travelling with a hard case or flight case, buy a seat or check it.

I just heard of a case that didn't make the news in which the person got injured TWICE in two of the three flights they had to take to reach their final destination. The person later DIED due to complications directly related to the injuries. 😢😡 I personally knew this person, I just didn't know what had happened prior to their death. 😥

I can't figure out which of the three United Breaks Guitars songs is the best, but I think each gets better with this being the best (although all three are fantastic!) It's truly a shame that only #1 got all the views. Each of them deserve the same amount. #1 is classic, #2 with the oom-pa band is truly inspired, and this one is just out there. I don't know how Dave Carroll did it, but I'm glad he did. And Jerry Douglas? Outstanding!

I keep coming back to watch these videos. It's such an amazing story, how Dave responded to a negative situation so positively, and actually made a difference. There's a million ways a person could have responded, and I doubt any of them could be better than this.
I'm sure you get thousands of comments and cant comment on every one, but I have to tell you that you are my hero. Several years ago United did exactly the same thing to me. That hard case was fine bit the $1,500 TAKANIMI in the case was destroyed. United woulod do nothing. If I'd been a rich person with expensive luggage they would have covered it, but a guitar that had been removed from its case and destroyed they would accept no responsibility for. United continues to break everything. I just traveled from Santa Barbara, CA, to Hartford, CT. The United agent begged & begged for people to check their carry-on bags. Trying to be a good citizen, I finally checked my carry-on bag. When I arrived in Hartford, the bag was destroyed--one wheel and a corner was completely torn off. I, too, spent countless hours with United, via email and phone, and they would do nothing. So I am one bag down and totally unwilling ever, ever again to allow my carry-on to be checked. Don't do it--no matter how much the United agent begs. UNITED BREAKS EVERYTHING!
What I did in a similar situation: write a spam bot combined with a natural language generation AI that sends complaint emails about my problem. Every day. For three years. The fun part is, that bot opens new cases/tickets with support by itself. That means when they tell it no, it just stops for a few days, then the story begins again. I don’t have to put any time into the thing, and gets better and better at writing complaint letters / warranty request, etc. That thing has already cost it’s creators at least two whole workdays, just from reading💩😈 I don’t get my 1202€? Fine, neither will you , because I’ll just waste your time and money…

My last (and I mean last ever) experience with United was at O'Hare...never a good combination. After a comedy (or tragedy) of errors, incompetence, apathy and downright idiocy, the upshot was my seat got sold to a stand-by passenger, and I got put off the plane. I eventually got home, but my luggage went to another city altogether. In the future, as the song says, I'll fly with someone else, or go by car.

Recently I flew with United airlines and oh boy it was the worst flight experience I had. It was my first time flying with them because I usually fly with Southwest Airlines. Basically this plane was crowded asf and me & my dad had brought our luggage but then after the plane was filled with luggage we had to get our luggage pulled wherever they throw that shit on. My bag had a rip on it. The seats were also uncomfortable so :/
Fast forward ten years and it is 2020. And the airlines got nearly defeated by a virus. As some flights are beginning to open up, loyal customers are worth their weight in gold. PS, found this from Reddit, this gentleman's voice is wonderful.

I don't remember what airlines it was, but many years ago we took our 75 pound standard poodle on a trip with us, and as my kids are watching out the window before boarding, they get excited to see our dog's kennel outside the plane. Two guys THREW his kennel. I was shocked.....poor dog. :(

I once had a somewhat similar situation with American Airlines for something "they" did...and requested compensation. My request was rejected. Came here from hearing 'United smashes people's faces and guitars' as on the 9th of April 2017 after no passengers volunteered to disembark and overbooked flight, staff wrestled and forcibly dragged (literally) a 69 year old male doctor off the plane so that their crew could board. The man was a doctor trying to get back to the hospital he worked at to treat his patients the next morning and his head hit the armrest causing half of his face and mouth to bleed loads.
I once had to fly United Airlines, my family had to wake up before 3 to drive there and then our flight was canceled so instead of only a couple hours of flying (most but not all of the day) we had to wait to get onto another plane that then got delayed, and then wait again. Finally we got onto a plane and flew the rest of the way without issues, however when we arrived it was EXTREMELY late
Thanks for standing up. Motel 6 gave me the same run around for my laptop stolen out of my room.The police saw in the cameras the only people in and out of the room was the staff. The Hotel management didn't care, didn't want to hear it or help me. It was a fight to get recognized. Don't stay at Motel 6 your stuff isn't safe. I just remembered when I was listening to this in the car: around the time the first song came out, I was about 9 or so and I went to Disney World with my mom, grandma, and great aunt and we flew back on United. I had presents for other family members, two of them being glass in a box clearly labeled FRAGILE and we made sure to tell them that we had fragile items, even marked it on the form that we had fragile luggage. My mom and I heard rattling and she thought it was my legos I got there and I know the sound of legos so I told her “no, that’s not what legos sound like.” We got to my pawpaw and nanue’s and when we opened the box, their presents were shattered into millions of pieces! I wanted to flip out! Thanks for not caring about your customers and upsetting a little girl on her birthday back then, United🫠
don't just listen to the United breaks guitars songs. Sons of Maxwell is a very talented group that I feel excels above many of the popular groups that get much higher billings.
If numerous employees at several locations are rude, careless, or incompetent, management is likely to blame. Management might even be promoting this behavior. I once had a lousy job answering phones for "tech support" (me, tech support????!!!!!). We were required to lie about a couple of issues. In any case, if management had much screen time in the first or third video, I missed it.

Despite being in the song, Dave actually tried to defend her. He said she had gotten a lot of undeserved heat. Supposedly, she was the most courteous out of the employees he interacted with, but ultimately her hands were tied.

I don't know about United breaking instraments, but after a passenger sat in an empty seat, the flight attendents told her she's have to pay $109 for the seat change. She said she wouldn't pay and moved to her assigned seat. However, the flight crew demanded that she pay $109 anyway or be arrested. She was arrested and ended up spending three days in jail and is now sueing United.

We gave up on United a long time ago, their service sucks, and as of the fall of last year nothing has changed. Hubby had to fly with them because of his business, and swore he'd rather walk next time.

Beautiful music. All three videos are super. And Dave has a fantastic voice, and lovely looks. I really lucked out to see him perform this music live in Nova Scotia two years ago, and I am a friend of his on Facebook. He's amazing!
The woman who plays Miss Irlweg (I've already forgotten her name, even though I was just reading Dave's book last night - ugh, I wish I didn't have memory problems!!!) is so adorable. I love her sassy little dance at the end.

Another fine song from SOM and Dave. Typical of their other songs, this one is sweet, strong, subversive and humane at the same time. And as a fiddler myself, I must say -- WOW! That fiddler plays smooth, bluesy and hot.

They could break or lose all the luggage and personal property, and shoot every other passenger, and they will be propped up. They won’t go away unless they are deliberately disbanded, probably with some excuse people will easily accept.
I let people have the joy and fun of the treasure hunt in discovering who it is, because in the process, they will learn a lot about a lot of other things, too, and each person follows the various trails as they have interest, or as their ego and intellect will...or won’t...allow. I would hate to deprive anyone of the joy of discovery, and the unsettling, but ultimately liberating information and connections they will find. Seekers do find.

I don't remember what airlines it was, but many years ago we took our 75 pound standard poodle on a trip with us, and as my kids are watching out the window before boarding, they get excited to see our dog's kennel outside the plane. Two guys THREW his kennel. I was shocked.....poor dog. :(
This was brilliant!! ! Aside from the fact that you have an amazing voice you have a clever mind as well. I once had a somewhat similar situation with American Airlines for something "they" did...and requested compensation. My request was rejected. Then I even sent letters to everyone of their Board Members (12)....never got one single acknowledgment...sure wish I could sing!!! Thank You for this Dave!!!
Came here from hearing 'United smashes people's faces and guitars' as on the 9th of April 2017 after no passengers volunteered to disembark and overbooked flight, staff wrestled and forcibly dragged (literally) a 69 year old male doctor off the plane so that their crew could board. The man was a doctor trying to get back to the hospital he worked at to treat his patients the next morning and his head hit the armrest causing half of his face and mouth to bleed loads.

I once had to fly United Airlines, my family had to wake up before 3 to drive there and then our flight was canceled so instead of only a couple hours of flying (most but not all of the day) we had to wait to get onto another plane that then got delayed, and then wait again. Finally we got onto a plane and flew the rest of the way without issues, however when we arrived it was EXTREMELY late
Thanks for standing up. Motel 6 gave me the same run around for my laptop stolen out of my room.The police saw in the cameras the only people in and out of the room was the staff. The Hotel management didn't care, didn't want to hear it or help me. It was a fight to get recognized. Don't stay at Motel 6 your stuff isn't safe. If you wanted to do a string of songs about other organizations, I would be happy to help write the song!.
I just remembered when I was listening to this in the car: around the time the first song came out, I was about 9 or so and I went to Disney World with my mom, grandma, and great aunt and we flew back on United. I had presents for other family members, two of them being glass in a box clearly labeled FRAGILE and we made sure to tell them that we had fragile items, even marked it on the form that we had fragile luggage. My mom and I heard rattling and she thought it was my legos I got there and I know the sound of legos so I told her “no, that’s not what legos sound like.” We got to my pawpaw and nanue’s and when we opened the box, their presents were shattered into millions of pieces! I wanted to flip out!

If numerous employees at several locations are rude, careless, or incompetent, management is likely to blame. Management might even be promoting this behavior. I once had a lousy job answering phones for "tech support" (me, tech support????!!!!!). We were required to lie about a couple of issues.
In any case, if management had much screen time in the first or third video, I missed it.

I think it was the last company employee to say they would not take care of the problem.
Despite being in the song, Dave actually tried to defend her. He said she had gotten a lot of undeserved heat. Supposedly, she was the most courteous out of the employees he interacted with, but ultimately her hands were tied.

I don't know about United breaking instraments, but after a passenger sat in an empty seat, the flight attendents told her she's have to pay $109 for the seat change. She said she wouldn't pay and moved to her assigned seat. However, the flight crew demanded that she pay $109 anyway or be arrested. She was arrested and ended up spending three days in jail and is now sueing United.

(1) it was not just an exit seat - it was a first class seat - the difference was the upgrade fee
(2) the video shows she refused to move back to her seat when asked - that would explain the pilot's announcement
(3) ms mamakas seems to have a history of being a lawsuit addict

We gave up on United a long time ago, their service sucks, and as of the fall of last year nothing has changed. Hubby had to fly with them because of his business, and swore he'd rather walk next time.
