Wrecks is just a bigger version of that, but the power to weight ratio didn't scale as intended. A lot of experimental bots are based on designs that work in lower weight classes but don't scale well (Smeee, Starchild, Horizon) Some of the team members would go on to build Skorpios

After watching Beetleweight bot Kitten Mittens, I've realized that Wrecks's design CAN work. What Wrecks is is an example of a gyro-walker, and their designed to keep their weapon pointed at the opponent, being able to turn around quicker and easier than wheels can. Kitten Mittens is an example of a gyro-walker done right. Wrecks is an example of one done wrong.
This bot may have not done well in Battlebots, but at the smaller weight classes, these bots can be real nasty to fight. Mostly looking at Gyrobot (US one), Rickety Cricket, and Kitten Mittens.
I feel like a heavyweight Gyrowalker can work, just that Wrecks is a bad example of it. Yeah, Rickety Cricket and Kitten Mittens are better examples of this design.
I think I remember this episode, they wanted to be the first team to have a bot that walked instead of rolling. Unfortunately it seems they found out why nobody had ever tried before
Wrecks was based off of a much smaller (more successful) bot called gyrobot which functioned much better at walking. It saves the weight of having wheels, extra motors to power them and keeps the chassis small so you can put all of your weight into the weapon and its motor. I think by math it was actually the most powerful spinner at the event that season, (rpm, mass, moment, etc)
@@hockeater idk it kind of is, all the saw bots are pretty shit and rarely win. Same goes for literally any bot that installs flamethrowers. If your bot is not a flat spinner, then you really aren't trying to win, you're just there to have a fun time and see how many rounds you can go before they match you against a flat spinner.
@@LegDayLas horizontal spinners are not neccesarily better. tombstone has only won once, while bite force and end game (not counting bite forces clamp/lifter design) have won three times.

The strategy Wrecks is using is used by smaller weight classes like beetle weights. The idea is the use the gyroscopic forces of the weapon to “walk around.” In most leagues this lets you have the robot weigh a lot more, with most of the weight going toward the weapon. I have no idea why the builder thought this was a good idea since in that season there was no weight bonus for walkers.

After watching Beetleweight bot Kitten Mittens, I've realized that Wrecks's design CAN work. What Wrecks is is an example of a gyro-walker, and their designed to keep their weapon pointed at the opponent, being able to turn around quicker and easier than wheels can. Kitten Mittens is an example of a gyro-walker done right. Wrecks is an example of one done wrong.
Wrecks is probably the first bot on the planet to actually succeed at suicide
This bot may have not done well in Battlebots, but at the smaller weight classes, these bots can be real nasty to fight. Mostly looking at Gyrobot (US one), Rickety Cricket, and Kitten Mittens.
I feel like a heavyweight Gyrowalker can work, just that Wrecks is a bad example of it. Yeah, Rickety Cricket and Kitten Mittens are better examples of this design.

I think I remember this episode, they wanted to be the first team to have a bot that walked instead of rolling. Unfortunately it seems they found out why nobody had ever tried before

Wrecks was based off of a much smaller (more successful) bot called gyrobot which functioned much better at walking.
It saves the weight of having wheels, extra motors to power them and keeps the chassis small so you can put all of your weight into the weapon and its motor.
I think by math it was actually the most powerful spinner at the event that season, (rpm, mass, moment, etc)

@@hockeater idk it kind of is, all the saw bots are pretty shit and rarely win. Same goes for literally any bot that installs flamethrowers. If your bot is not a flat spinner, then you really aren't trying to win, you're just there to have a fun time and see how many rounds you can go before they match you against a flat spinner.
@@LegDayLas horizontal spinners are not neccesarily better. tombstone has only won once, while bite force and end game (not counting bite forces clamp/lifter design) have won three times.

I imagine this actually being an incredibly devestating robot... but only if it didn't approach its target at just idly rotated itself to face them.
The strategy Wrecks is using is used by smaller weight classes like beetle weights. The idea is the use the gyroscopic forces of the weapon to “walk around.” In most leagues this lets you have the robot weigh a lot more, with most of the weight going toward the weapon. I have no idea why the builder thought this was a good idea since in that season there was no weight bonus for walkers.

It was so powerful that it became suicidally disappointed at red devil's incompetence.
This was a battle of the mind you can clearly see how Red Devil imposingly approaches Wrecks and the mental game has already been played, this was 5th dimensional chess and Wrecks had no choice but to not be taken alive, the fear he must have felt, he had a taste of what it means to be alive and new that this was his moment to make that his final memory.
