- Comparing the 3 best damage-dealing skills in P5R: Izanagi-no-Okami's Myriad Truths, Yoshitsune's Hassou Tobi and Kaguya's Shining Arrows. Expand the description for more info on the damage cap and how other Personas might stack up.
- What is the whole damage cap thing about?
In P5 and P5R, there is a 100% damage cap for boosting skills. If you have Boost+Amp+Magic Ability, you would expect to have 2.34x damage (1.25*1.5*1.25). However, boosts are capped at 100%, so those 3 skills at most would give you a 2x multiplier.
- Do traits exceed the damage cap?
Yes, they normally do. However, it has been found that Pagan Allure, Satanael's original trait, that strengthens magic attacks by 50%, does NOT exceed the cap. So if you already have Boost+Amp+Magic Ability, you will not see extra damage from Pagan Allure. However, Mighty Gaze can exceed the cap, so that is why it is on Kaguya. - If Shining Arrows does 4-8x light damage and gets the benefit of the Boost+Amp+Magic Ability, how is it not stronger than Hassou Tobi, 8x light damage, which does not get any boosting passives?
It's important to know that "light" is just a subcategory for how much a skill does, not all skills that do light damage are equal. It's the same way with Colossal skills like God's Hand, Brave Blade and Sword Dance, they all do slightly different damage. So 1 "light" hit of Hassou Tobi is stronger than 1 "light" hit of Shining Arrows. That's why Hassou Tobi is still a bit stronger overall.
- Who's the best damage-dealing Persona after this?
Satanael with either Black Viper, God's Hand or Riot Gun, because of his unique skill Tyrant's Mind. I don't have Satanael's stats at 99 yet, but approximately, with all relevant traits/boosts:
Myriad Truths would do ~2.6x more than Riot Gun Satanael
Hassou Tobi would do ~1.3x more than Riot Gun Satanael
Shining Arrows would do ~1.15x more than Riot Gun Satanael

see what's so absolutely f****** wild about Izanagi no okami is the fact that, yeah, he has the highest damage output in the entire game but his trait that gives that also halves all incoming damage on top of it as well as resisting all but bless and curse so not only is he a busted attacker he's also one of the best defensive personas in the game without any additional set up
Definitely fitting for a World persona.
No additional set up? country maker won't reach its full potential unless you max out the compendium and for that you need to be in NG+ and by then being OP is fine you already cleared the game so enjoy yourself and wreck havoc on these weak hoes and besides Izanagi-no-okami is the only playable persona of ZA WARUDOO arcana if he wasn't OP i would've been disappointed.
@@jackjohnson8305 what I mean is that if you max him for damage you won't need to do anything extra to make him bulky anyway. He doesn't really need to pick between attack and defense because he's able to just do both
If you bought the whole dlc then you get an accessory that nullifys bless and curse so almighty is his only non resisted elament and he uses almighty so he is perfect
Yo quick update: I made a izanagi that can only be hit with gun, electric and almighty.
It's hilarious when someone in your party says the reaper fight was too easy..even on merciless!

That's exactly why I almost always use Myriad Truths for damage. It's a shame that the other top damage skills don't even come close to it under normal circumstances, of course with the exception of hitting weaknesses (especially on Merciless).

There’s multiple routes to passing down traits I recommend finding the persona who has mighty gaze and use and online compendium and find your routes through there it’s like a 100 different ways to pass down each trait

I always thought that there should be a pasiva that gives you 25% more physical dmg plus like any other skill and then the both 25% and 50% physical amplifications and with undying fury the damage of Yoshitsune would be such a show.
And with futsunushis trait maybe even more, not sure tho.

He is the best ever since P4 despite he doesn’t look flashy and his skill does not say “it deals ultimate damage” and it’s also easy to build an effective Yoshitsune build

One thing make Myriad Truth better than Hassou Tobi and Shining Arrows is no shadow/ boss ever resist/repel/drain almighty ever. Too good that it broke the game.

Just by re-fusing him. The Lotus trait is originally from Lakshmi, so Lakshmi + Pixie = Valkyrie. Valkyrie + Daisoujou = Raoul.

Hey, Bainz! I just thought of something regarding your methodology. Granted, all of these movies are unique to these Personas, but, if you want to compare just the base move itself, without any outside factors, shouldn't you do a raw damage calculation for each move? In this case, you have to divide the damage of M.T. by 4, S.A by 2.4, and H.T. by 1.3 to account for the other factors. By doing this, you get a more accurate representation of how strong each skill is ignoring everything else.
So, using your numbers, adjusting for the multipliers the base damages for each trait comes out to be:
H.T -> 297
S.A -> 141
M.T. -> 200.
So, using this logic, H.T. is actually stronger than M.T. aha. M.T. is stronger than H.T. not because of the move itself but because of the other boosts associated with, pretty neat to think about. Let me know your thoughts! Extrapolating further, you can also calculate how much damage each move does per hit.
M.T. -> 67 ("Severe")
H.T. -> 37.13 ("Light")
S.A. -> 23.5 ("Light")
Yeah, it is true if you remove the traits/passives, HT will be the strongest. Phys moves are generally the strongest themselves because there aren't any Phys Amps in the game. I wanted this vid to be the skills compared at their max potential, but ya it's a diff order for the skills on their own

The first time I saw Izanagi-no-Okami I was like "Yeah, that one's gona be OP af", especially since there aren't even any buffs or debuffs involved here.
Problem for me with relying on a single persona skill is the fact every boss has certain resistances and even myriad of truths isn't always the optimal perona skill for the fight sometimes the old fashioned way to exploiting technicals and weaknesses is going to serve alot better than almighty damage against tougher opponents even if it does less damage overall.
I mean I dunno chief, Myriad of Truths is Almighty damage, so it's never resisted, never reflected, and it hits 3 times guaranteed. On top of him one shotting everything in the game, he resists everything but bless and curse (which can be nullified) and he will halve all incoming damage. He requires 0 thinking, just press X to win. I recently beat the game with using only him and well, the only time I had to use an item was on the final boss, and even then it was wasted. I'm gonna do an Arséne only run later on, but the game was FAR too easy with him.
@Fabulous Superstar thing is tho I've had situations where bosses make my life alot worse spamming myriad of truths before ng+ because the sp cost was so high I was running on fumes compared to using an elemental skill then follow up with a compatible skill to create a technical reaction. Also haso tobi is nuts it had a ridiculous number of hits which makes hitting an enemy with critical hits alot easier and when you critical hit the enemy is down.

He has Victory Cry, which fully restores the user’s HP and SP after a battle.
Universal law can pass the cap? I have a raoul and i use with mighty gaze, magic ability, allmigth amp-boost, if i always use phantomshow, in theory its better universal law
I believe Universal Law does exceed the cap. The only trait that I've seen so far have a damage cap restriction is Pagan Allure.

Don't know what atlus thinking. Nerf pagan allure with cap, but let InO has Country maker. Never use it at all, cause everything even on merciless will be so damn easy
money. InO was paid dlc while pagan allure is not
So basically if ready to pay for DLCs use Izanagi otherwise use Yoshitsune.
Use izanagi if you think easy mode is too hard

Extremely hard to define what difficulty is as well in this sort of combat style as if you just play smart nothing will ever be difficult, yeah you might get close to death but you will always recover from it for example. Well except Okumura but that's not difficult, just stupid because reasons
against the reaper and the holly grail shinning arrows does more damage than hassou tobi if i remember correctly

Yes, Hassou Tobi does about 30% more than Riot Gun Satanael. For Lavenza, she resists everything but Almighty, so Black Viper Satanael will be better for her.
Depends on how you build Satanael gun build. I was able to dish out 25k-44k damage with proper buffs on Merciless.

As I do not have Izanagi-no Okami, can you use that persona in fusions? Been wondering if you could use fusion and gallows to give both Izanagi's trait and Myriad Truths skill to other personas.
both Myriad Truths and the trait are exclusive to Izanagi

I've heard some stuff about "Multi hit moves receive buffs better" but i don't think that makes any sense whatsoever
the formula for the dmg uses the square root of the base potency value, so moves that have multiple hits usually end up dealing more dmg
How do I manually raise Yoshitsune's stats? It's at level 99 but its physical attack strat is only at 70 something.
trigger a fusion alarm, fuse two personas together to get a persona with a gold name, then feed the gold persona to yoshitsune using the gallows, itll fail, and increase all your stats, repeat under fusion alarm until all stats are 99

Undying Fury is a better trait for him because the 2.5x boost from charge + the 30% physical damage boost is better than thd 3x charge boost will of the sword gives

Does anyone know if Pagan Allure stacks with passives in the new rerelease (I'm playing the switch version for reference)? I ask because I made Satanael with that trait, almighty amp, magic ability, and tyrant's mind to boost the damage of Black Viper. When I attack, it says on the top left "Power increased via *Pagan Allure*
Late but if i recall Pagen Allure doesn’t exceed the cap still
Pagan's Allure is all about hitting the damage cap with as few skills as possible so you now have a bunch of extra slots to work with to make Satanael a multi elemental spammer.
@@godlyBlade ino is better with multi elemental because with country maker and magic ability it makes it 125% so I use a phys/gun build with satanael lol
I've never found a situation where even only 4 hits of Shining Arrows didn't far out-damage all 8 hits of Hassou Tobi (with the same traits and passives supporting the damage as here), granted I've never tried Shining Arrows on the twins. Do the twins have lower Phys resistance than elemental resistance, perhaps?
Tested vs Yu and Makoto, and same result, HT is ~15% stronger on avg. Do you have Undying Fury on Yoshi and Mighty Gaze on Kaguya? And what have you tested on? If you can show pics of Shining Arrows doing more with the same set-up, by all means
He didnt account for the spell buffs from "magic ability", "bless/almighty amp/boost", or the traits. Country Maker is approximately a 2.0 dmg buff with the other traits giving .2 for mighty gaze & .3 for undying fury.

If you want to spend time optimizing use myriad truths, it has no downside cant be absorbed/reflected/nullified
I did take those into account? That's why at the end, I said "at full capacity", meaning when each Persona has their best trait and relevant passives. Base damage isn't really relevant, because it's not that hard to add the appropriate trait/passives to a Persona.
I'm be honest people only resort to use Izanagi-no-okami if they are still some how struggling on okumura and if use Izanagi-no-okami outside of hard boss then you probably cheat of open book test
I've personally never had trouble on any boss in base P5(Outside of true ending boss on Merciless, but I got around that w/Ryuji+Makoto+Yusuke comp) and I'd prolly use Izanagi-nO because I love the animation and big numbers are satisfying.
Haven't bought P5R yet, so idk if any of the bosses are harder now.
I only use Izanagi-no-okami so I can scream "ZA WARUDO!" when I use a heat risen/debilitated/concentrated Myriad Truths
How does Izanagi no okami have null on bless and curse? I don't see any passives that buff it.

Okay... but what is the best magic skill for those who don't have dlc? morning star from lucifer?
Morningstar, Black Viper, and any of the severe elemental skills works.
Satanael's Black Viper and Megidolaon are stronger than Lucifer's Morning Star due to his unique passive Tyrant's Mind, if you give him either Intense Focus for Black Viper or Mighty Gaze for Megidolaon (or Will of the Sword for both, tho you have to use Concentrate to get the maximum potential from this trait). However, Kaguya, while being a DLC Persona, she is actually free, and her Shining Arrow at maximum potential out-damages Satanael unless your enemy resist Bless

I have been playing persona 4 golden and yoshitsunes Hasso Tobi does around 110 per hit and I believe can hit up to 8 times? This just shows how it was butchered horrifically

It still is broken in this game. He was just not stacking up Charge, buffing your own attack and debuffing enemy defense, because there really is no point in doing so while trying to compare the damage, as both Shining Arrow and Myriad Truths can benefits off from the same set up.
It's funny that you said they butchered it in this game while the description of this video clearly stated that Hassou Tobi is the second strongest skill in the game damage-wise, outclassing Shining Arrow while beaten only by Myriad Truths, a DLC-exclusive move. The only real nerf that Yoshitsune had in this game is that he is only available after you have maxed Morgana' Social Link, which actually comes AFTER Shido, the Penultimate Boss in the original version of the game.
It's kind of funny that you're talking about yoshitsunes being nerfed but in persona 4 gold izanagi in the game's Canon one shots the final boss.

How can I get mighty gaze on kaguya and Satanael?
Fusion ingredients can change depending on what DLC you have, whether it's none, just the legacy or all. You can try Nue + Hua Po to transfer Mighty Gaze to Kaguya. Then Nue + Shiisaa to get Mighty Gaze on Anzu, which is a fusion ingredient for Satanael. Your best bet is using a fusion calculator online where you can toggle which DLC you have.

I made test with kaguuya mighty gaze , and yoshitsune undying fury , max out st , ma both 4 of them , on twins , reaper ,other bosses , yes kaguuya deal more damage than yoshitsune
Show some pics/vid of Kaguya doing more in the same scenario? What you're describing is the same as what's in the video. Kaguya doesn't do more on avg, it was the same in Vanilla P5
