    Nice info DDT. Keep it coming.
    I'm a 66 year old active club/wedding/hotel dj and have always kept up with with everything related to my job as DJ.
    A lot of weddings want radio versions of songs and not a lot of mixing still in most of the USA. Because it is not the couple getting married paying the dj it is their parents! I do and have always done mini sets. I love requests. I use my eyes, ears and brain to judge the crowd, not a computer screen. And I make sure I keep my attention on the room. Cheers.

    Hi Phil. I agree with your statement about mixing. Back in the late 90's up till mid 00's I had the confidence to mix using pitch bend , kill switches (all before stems and a lot of effects) . Since teaming up with some one who didn't do this my mixing got lazy.
    Now I'm really nervous about doing this.
    My confidence in my mixing has declined.
    I can still beat mix , but effect mixing has me running form the hills 😢😢

    I actually got this course once it hit, really enjoyed it and I still go back to it to refresh some of the modules, also picked up the complete DJ course, Dance music course and now the new Serato 3.0 course…used spin my vinyls back in the 80’s but now with the new technology I’m having a lot of fun!!! Thank you Phil and DDJT crew!!!

    As a former club/bar DJ, I find it fascinating to hear what Wedding DJs do. I think I definitely had it easier. The mini sets is definitely something I will use going forward. 👍

    Very interesting masterclass. The risk of having active loop (understood at a key section of the track not at the end for emergency purpose) is to always make the same mixing out of the playing track. Lets be vigilant and desactivate it from time to time to avoid confort mixing

    DJ Software is awesome at gridding House and EDM, but I have yet to find one that even comes close to Original Disco, R&B, Funk and Old School. Gridding these genres is hard work, worth it but the greatest buzz kill for my DJ enthusiasm is trying to grid old school. Buy the time I have gridded 6 or 7 songs I am completely tired of the whole thing and have to walk away...sometimes for days.

      LOL, you should try to grid Latin music like Salsa. The results are very interesting 😂

    • @djreplay9765
      @djreplay9765 2 роки тому

      @@bachatavideos9789 I will, I love Salsa and if it takes a little extra to grid it, at least I get to hear the music while I'm working. And with that Latin energy all around me I can get a deeper feeling for each track which will pay big dividends in my live sets. Thanks, with Rekordbox and Salsa, I'm actually looking forward to the gridding session.

    Yo! Should I put different genres of music in my mini sets? Like three oldies songs, three rap songs, etc. I was always taught to play the same genre a couple songs and not from 70s to nineties to 2010 every time, every transition.

    In reference to Beat Gridding, how do you beat grid a song like Blondie - Heart Of Glass where in the middle the drummer has that beat stutter which throws the grid off?

    • @johndjdoublejwhite3220
      @johndjdoublejwhite3220 2 роки тому

      The only thing i could think of is to throw it ito Audacity or a program similar and edit it so it stay's a four beat pattern but it's a unique thing for that song and it would ruin it. Any suggestions would be great. AAAANNNNND GO!

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  2 роки тому

      In that instance, it is going to throw your bars off, but not your beats, so beatgrids will still work at a beat level.

    Key mixing is gonna be huge now that Serato has stems. Your mix will sound like crap is you vocal doesn’t match the instruments. Old school DJs try to to tell me different. They sound like crap! Trust me stay in key with Acapellas!!!

    i think i dont need so many resources to be a good dj, all of the new digital resources of the controllers cost money (inclouding your courses) and these is what they (and you) need, money and to convert us in a digital slaveries..... On the other side, all of these digital resources (loops, hot cues, etc) need time to be applied to every song, so, what is the real practicity of all this software?. DJ is the art to put the right music for the right people on the right moment...
