LiPo batteries are very expensive, at least in my country. so i decided to make it with a microwave oven transformer. it was not portable but works well. you presented it so clearly again. we love both you and your cat. go on please same way.
@@izachu904 yes, of course. i did not use it directly. firstly i cut secondary wound and had it been empty completely then finding a thick copper wire, approx 2 meters, replace old wound but this time only 3 spirs so i could very low voltage but very high current from this 700W transformer. then i added a card that controls both current and working time (duty/cycle period) ...so i had a point welder machine especially for serial or parallel batteries.
Nice work, well done! Just one detail: I think you could have tinned the eye terminals on power cables and tightened them on the PCB with wrenches. Tin is softer than copper and would have provided a better contact surface and lower resistance. But I admit that's a bit of a nitpick 😸
I store it upside down, standing on the lid. It takes longer to dry out. On other tip is to add some solvent like acetone to make it a bit thinner. Not sure if this compromises the final protection.
Congratulations! Excellent project. Sorin, I have a question regarding direct 12.6V charger connection between BMS and USB-C boost convert. Will it not damage the USB-C boost convert 3S, when you go to charge the battery with this charger? Thanks, Hug!
Thanks. No it will not damage the converter, because at the output of the converter there is always a battery with BMs connected, so there is always voltage present, no matter if it comes from the battery or a charger.
Great job. Only one additional think: the strip U used is not pure nickel, it must be nickel plated steel strip, because it is sparking. Can it spot welds 0.2mm pure nickel strip?
Hi sir please help me, i am big fan your work, I learned a lot,i have two buck converters szbk07 and lb07, on both of them current adjustment option does not work even on load applied, i even changed the cc pot with 100k precision pot .how to fix this?please its really impotent to me
Salut.
Initially I wanted to use a PD trigger module with a powerful CC/CV buck converter for the battery, but there isn't room inside the case for other components. I will use PD charging in future projects.
Salut.
yes, some converters allow reverse voltage. In this case the only option is to add a powerful schottky diode to the converter output, and adjust the output voltage to compensate for the diode forward voltage drop.

microwave transformers produce very high voltage around 2,000 volts , you need to get rid of secondary coil and rewind with a copper wire

at the end of the video, the supervisor has tasted the screw 😂
Excited to see your new video! Always a good watch - thank you Sorin!
Great upgrade Sorin 👍🏻. Thank you for sharing it with the YT community 😊
I finally understand the benefit of project boxes with removable ends. Thanks!
great spot welder rebuild and portable
Nice upgrade for your old spot welder.👍

Nifty, love a well executed project box.
Hey Friend & assistant cat, god bless you!
Very cool thank you for the video, I wish I had the knowledge to do projects like you!
really good video!!
Cats ❤
Thanks for all the info, dude!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Finally wait is over ❤️☺️
awesome, another video from sorin!

Nicely done.

Great video! keep going!
Good job 👍
Congratulations 👏🏻🎉
Great job enjoyed it 👍
Whatever you say older one looks a lot cooler
That smaller case looks a lot better. I'm going to have to make one of these at some point.
you can use a 3s charger with fast charge support
Congratulation!
Nice build. One question: can I also use 4s 14.8v lipo battery for this spot welder?
No, because a 4S battery will have maximum 16.8V when it's fully charged.
Nice video Sorin, can you review the XY-P15W Bluetooth amplifier and make a Bluetooth Speaker out of it?
this is fantastic! but i dont trust myself using lipo or any lithium cell to be honest.. would lifepo iron cells be safe to use for this project?
You would need a much larger cell if you used LiFePO4 cells. You need 200A to successfully spot weld. I use a tiny 1800mAh 3S LiPo. It's very easy.
Hey Sorin, great upgrade! I have a few 18650s lying around from old laptops, can I repurpose them and make a spot welder like that?
No, for a spot welder you need high drain cells, preferably Li-Po cells.
Congratulations! Excellent project.

Thanks so much!❤

Can it spot welds 0.2mm pure nickel strip?
This spot welder kit works with maximum 0.12mm strips. Strips thicker than this will not 100% weld.

nice
awesome
Better use white 100a bms in my experience

Can work with battery 🔋 18650 ?
18650 ???
18650 is the battery shown in the vid the green one
If you are asking 18650 battery as the power source, it would work considering you have a very high C rated battery, close to the li-po one
can you make lifepo4 battery for car?
a car battery will be very expensive.
@@Sorin_DIY lead acid into lifepo4. i understand, well i hope someday you can make one 🙏🏼.
4s Lipo4 possible?
no, the battery voltage will be too high for this kit.
