Then you can catch up to fix broken or replace and lube grease during in winter before you get ready in early summer since you have more time after retirement. Enjoy be farmer! 👨🌾
To shift the Haybine over to a mowing position, put a wooden chock in front of the right wheel on the Haybine and drive the tractor forward about 10 feet. It’ll shift the haybind over into cutting position. Super easy. Thanks for the great videos.
I love to see preventative maintenance being done. Reactive maintenance/repair is costly! Should get some reasonable cuts of hay given the rain you have had.
Looking good all of the farmers around us cut there hay a few days ago as well. Everyone around here was late getting there first cutting. It's been so wet! Great work
You can use those silver clamps that was in that tool box to set your cutting hight ig you have had problems with that in the past we use them on our bush hog they jusr clamp on the chrome rod of the hyd cylinder
Love seeing you cut the hay. Can remember a few years ago all the sruggles you had and I felt so sorry for you. Now I am so proud to look with you at the freshly cut fields. Well done for both you and Rebecca for all your hard work. The strears is beautiful. How is the piggies. God bless you guys. 🙏❤️
Now that you retired and don't have to remember the things at work means you will be able to think about just the home place and it will go smoother for you .
Loved the drone footage and all the angles of mowing 👍 you have got more mouths to feed now with the new steers , good luck to you both with your new full time work ,
Like a couple of others said, just lower the haybine, then back up or go forward depending on if you're trying to swing it out or close it up. Worked for me before I had a hyd swing machine.
Evan....might be a wise idea to inventory equipment fixes needed and order parts after last use of the year...that way you can fix in a less busy time ... the winter. How about a "check list" to make sure all equipment requirements are met prior to use???????????????????????????????? Your a fulltime farmer NOW man!!!!
You have a nice stand of hay, orchard grass and clover is a good hay for cattle. The Hesston PT10 does a nice job, just have to watch those turns, can't tell you how many times I hit my pto. I hope all goes well with the hay and the steers. Have a good evening!
Looks great Evan and Rebecca, good some good looking steers to fatten up and they will get friendly with you both before long. That was the best hay cutting and easiest done and we are so happy for you, makes life easier when the cutting goes smoothly. Praying the weather hold out good so you can get it dried and baled and stored for the first cutting. Looking forward to the fencing getting completed and seeing how great it changes the looks around there. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
Seeing the grass churn out the back of the mower is so satisfying. Also, the pond looks amazing. You haven’t yet learned not to say “should be no problem”!
6 1/2 bales on the first field and 15 on the long field. Hope your putting an extra gate by the shop and an extra one on the west side, along the drive to the old mobile home. Thanks for sharing your retirement life with us!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Those are real nice looking steers. It is great to see beefy boys back on the homestead. Miah was letting them know she saw them. The sheep looked like they wanted to know who was in their field. LOL. Hay fields look good, especially the second one. Hope your baler does a good job for you. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Things look better for your hay cutting than they did the first one. You didn’t have anyone to help you and you said you had never cut hay before , I wore the Lord out praying for you. lol Just look how far you and Rebecca have come. God is so good. Tell us how is your garden doing?
@@CountryViewAcresEvan, that was a pretty slick move to move over the tongue on your haybine. My dad had a maneuver with the same effect he’d use with his baler and cutter, possibly easier for you and the machines. Grab a triangle piece of wood, a split piece of firewood, or a decent size rock and prop it appropriately in front or behind of the implement tire and either back into, or pull forward toward the desired position. It works like a charm. You can also leave the block or rock at the corner of the field where you’re going to be using it most to save yourself some time and just know it’s there the next time you need it. 😊
Keep a 4×4 block of wood about a foot long on the bailer or in the tractor. Put it in front of the outside wheel ( opposite the tongue)and pull forward to swing your tongue out and behind it to bring back to trailing position by backing up😊
Both fields looked very good, with plenty of lush growth. You are right in that the second cutting will be softer and leafier and make for better quality hay.
Chock block the far right wheel on the inside, meaning the Tractor side when you’re trying to extend the tongue and it’ll hold the wheel from going forward and it’ll move it over to the second setting.
You should put a tarp over the mowing machine to protect it from the weather. There’s a Lotta belts, chains, etc.. it just need to be protected. You can get a good tarp, it harbor, freight, and tie it down with four cinderblocks on the four corners.
Great video Evan. Retirement from the full time job seems to be the way to go. You are really enjoying your days. Can’t wait to see the next step. From Australia 🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺🦘
Good to see miss Kannmacher again. I think you are the one a few years ago to mention their channel. I have been watching ever since. Nice feeder calves. PS. we just dropped our hay Sunday and Monday (western pa). weather looking good here through Thursday.
Pete, good morning. enjoyed your video this morning as we drank our coffee. Thank you for sharing your work on the farm this morning. Have a great rest of your week.
You should start doing like tractor Tuesday or something where you work on the tractor in the shop and other projects in the shop. Since you have more time. Split your work into days of the week or like a focus area for specific days even if your content turns into half hour videos I’m sure you could knock out projects or goals that way. Even if it’s small tasks for that specific day on the tractor or on restoring the hay mower or dock or whatever just small things that you can make a thirty minute video over in a 8 hr day. Similar if you went to work and then make like a day of the week or time slot of each day you edit videos for the following week.
Evan, I'm proud of you for the growth of your channel. You really do put great content out here for all of us. Congrats and I can't wait to see what else you can accomplish now that you're full time on the farm. Thanks again,
You seem just a wee bit calmer. That's usually a sign of less stress. My great uncle, Ricky Al, used to take a lawn chair with him when mowing fields. Strapped it on the tractor roof. After mowing he liked to take a break, sit in the middle of his freshly mowed field, and take in the land. He said smelling the freshly cut field brought a sense of relaxation over him. He farmed into his 80's.
We had a cutter like that except it was John Deere. To switch between road and field we carried a block of wood to either put in front of or behind a tire on the cutter. Made it fast and easy to switch.
I like the music you played with the first cutting. It always reminds me of you busy at work. My husband and I enjoy watching your content and I’m excited that there will be more!
Great video mate as I said before hope it all works out for you know that you are not working anymore and thanks again good luck always to you and your family.
I would be worried about your smaller heifer being able to actually deliver a calf. That happened once on our farm when I was growing up. We couldn't get the calf out of the mother even giving her all the assistance we could. Both the mother and calf died. No matter what, you should get her horns removed as well. And on the mower/crimper you should take that loose sheet metal on top and mend it. Your wire welder and your plasma cutter should be able to work wonders on that repair.
My dad used to have a Hesston PT-7, the 7 foot version of your hay mower. It had the same swinging hitch setup. One thing he used to do to help swing the hitch was he had a 4×4 chunk of wood he put in front of the outer tire, pull the pin and then move forward. To fold the hitch in, he put the block behind the outer wheel and backed up. I think some times the mower wanted to ride up over the block so a bigger block or wheel chock could work better. It's been quite a number of years but he may have lubed up the swinging hitch as well.
Hay looks as good as can be expected. All the rain we've had really slowed hay making down. Our church has 7 acres a fellow cuts hay off and it needs baling bad. Hopefully he'll manage this week. The old mower is plugging right along. Nice calves. Can't wait to hear what Rebekah names this bunch. I vote for Burger, Chuck and Sirloin.🤪
Your retirement means we get more videos each week. It’s a win win situation. ‼️🧑🌾👍❤️
Then you can catch up to fix broken or replace and lube grease during in winter before you get ready in early summer since you have more time after retirement. Enjoy be farmer! 👨🌾
You should definitely paint that cutter
To shift the Haybine over to a mowing position, put a wooden chock in front of the right wheel on the Haybine and drive the tractor forward about 10 feet. It’ll shift the haybind over into cutting position. Super easy. Thanks for the great videos.
That's what we did :-)
Evan, you seem much happier since you retired. Enjoy your videos. Hope you now have time to make more. 😊
Pull the pin and then set mower down the ground and drive forward do the opposite when it the transport position
If your going to graze sorghum sudan, you need to make sure it is over 36 inches tall because it has prusic acid in it at high levels when shorter.
Put a block in front of tire and pull forward
Like the video Evan , now you need a block of wood to block a wheel now place it on mower .have good day my frend .
You look even happier in retirement. When things go wrong at least you have more time to get things fixed. Living the dream Evan. Well done Sir
I love to see preventative maintenance being done. Reactive maintenance/repair is costly! Should get some reasonable cuts of hay given the rain you have had.
You seem so happy in retirement. You are doing what you really enjoy. Thank you for taking us along.
Work for you and an adventure for us.
Pete Larson is a good roll model to follow ,well done even ,
Looking good all of the farmers around us cut there hay a few days ago as well. Everyone around here was late getting there first cutting. It's been so wet! Great work
Old haybind still does the job
I lost my text earlier but it would be great if you were able to put a coat of paint on the haybine, now that you have it working better.
I especially liked the overhead view when you were haying. Thank you. 💖💖💖💖🙏
It would be good to throw a little diesel and used oil mix on that knife before starting out for the first time
You can use those silver clamps that was in that tool box to set your cutting hight ig you have had problems with that in the past we use them on our bush hog they jusr clamp on the chrome rod of the hyd cylinder
those are nice look hay fields now you might think so but I do nice and tall and green looks good
Love seeing you cut the hay. Can remember a few years ago all the sruggles you had and I felt so sorry for you. Now I am so proud to look with you at the freshly cut fields. Well done for both you and Rebecca for all your hard work. The strears is beautiful. How is the piggies. God bless you guys. 🙏❤️
Love the more consistent uploads! By the sounds of these coment ls we've all noticed you more upbeat tone! Keep up the great work! God bless
The old hay bind is a beast !,,
Your camera work and drone shots are amazingly good. Audio is ALWAYS great. Super-editing job, Evan.
Would be great to see the D17 on the haybine someday.
Looking good Evan. Like that smile on your face 😊. Looks good on you. And Happy Father's Day.
Now that you retired and don't have to remember the things at work means you will be able to think about just the home place and it will go smoother for you .
That mowing music sounds familiar! Glad to see you back at it. I'm starting to feel spoiled having a new video every 2 days. Love it!
Loved the drone footage and all the angles of mowing 👍 you have got more mouths to feed now with the new steers , good luck to you both with your new full time work ,
Great video. Grandpa always said to mow the field backwards first pass then do the rest of the field in the right direction.
Like a couple of others said, just lower the haybine, then back up or go forward depending on if you're trying to swing it out or close it up. Worked for me before I had a hyd swing machine.
Works well❤
You should divide the 12 acres in half and do 1 side at s time. Just a thought. Enjoy the channel 👍
Throw a little grease or oil on that to unlock the Trans port p
To widen the windrower put a 4x4 in front of the right wheel and drive ahead. To narrow it put the 4x4 behind the wheel.
Evan....might be a wise idea to inventory equipment fixes needed and order parts after last use of the year...that way you can fix in a less busy time ... the winter. One way to shift the hay cutter to mow position is using a chalk block.
Looks great Evan and Rebecca, good some good looking steers to fatten up and they will get friendly with you both before long. Looking great❤
It looks like you have a fine stand of hay this year !
6 1/2 bales on the first field and 15 on the long field. Hope your putting an extra gate by the shop and an extra one on the west side, along the drive to the old mobile home. Thanks for sharing your retirement life with us!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nice job!
Nice hay cutter. Goes to show it don’t need to be shiny anew to get the job done. Good luck on the new retirement job.
Congratulations on your retirement, Evan!
Truly enjoy watching you and Rebecca's videos! Beautiful farm! Love the animals!
Those are real nice looking steers. It is great to see beefy boys back on the homestead. Miah was letting them know she saw them. The sheep looked like they wanted to know who was in their field. Love it that you fix old equipment. Brings me back to the day when I grew up on a farm!
Things look better for your hay cutting than they did the first one. You didn’t have anyone to help you and you said you had never cut hay before , I wore the Lord out praying for you. lol Just look how far you and Rebecca have come. God is so good. Tell us how is your garden doing?
We just started planting it. Most of the raised beds around the edge are planted. Now we have to plant the middle.

Ok, I did not know this about 2nd cutting. Born in Kansas, moved to California...salad bowl & lots of strawberries!!
Now that you are retired you can work your hay cutting times better. Blessings on you guys🙂
Chock block the far right wheel on the inside, meaning the Tractor side when you’re trying to extend the tongue and it’ll hold the wheel from going forward and it’ll move it over to the second setting.
Evan I hope your channel grows now that you are fulltime at the farm. Keep it rolling

Hi, Evan and Rebekah! Your farm is really growing. I am happy for both of you. Your smiles are contagious!
Enjoy retirement all you can. I enjoy your content and will expecting a lot more videos. All the best.
Great video Evan. Retirement from the full time job seems to be the way to go. You are really enjoying your days. Can’t wait to see the next step. From Australia 🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺🦘
Pete usually goes around the edge the other way to get mower up close to bushes then he turns around and mows in other direction.
I'm liking the more frequent videos.
Good to see miss Kannmacher again. I think you are the one a few years ago to mention their channel. I have been watching ever since. Nice feeder calves. PS. we just dropped our hay Sunday and Monday (western pa). weather looking good here through Thursday.
It's going to be great with more videos
It is all looking good ! The cows should be happy . I LOVE YOU BOTH !! 🥰🥰
Great video can't wait for the bailing..been watching since you started bailing Hay !! can't wait to see what the new hay equipment is!?!?
Pete, good morning. enjoyed your video this morning as we drank our coffee. Thank you for sharing your work on the farm this morning. Have a great rest of your week.

Great videos as always regards from Scotland 👍🏴
Once you get the fence done that will be a major milestone. Thanks for bringing us along with you!
Iam watching from Kenya and really enjoy your videos thanks
Lower your head down all the way when moving the tongue to the hole you want. Makes it easier sometimes
Evan, I'm proud of you for the growth of your channel. You really do put great content out here for all of us. Congrats and I can't wait to see what else you can accomplish now that you're full time on the farm. Thanks again,

I can't wait until Maya meets the feeder cattle. That will be a hoot😊
Nice. Thanks
Enjoyed your video Evan, Rebecca. I enjoy cutting hay making hay. Nice job have a great day.
The grass is really nice, thanks for sharing! Are you enjoying being at home?
Making hay while the sun shines.

What a happy way to start your retirement. Enjoy your videos, please stay safe!
The animals are funny to watch....Farm is lookin good. 🤞 Good Luck..
Thanks Evan
Great job keep up the great work love your videos thank you
Enjoy your videos, thanks!
I like the music you played with the first cutting. It always reminds me of you busy at work. My husband and I enjoy watching your content and I’m excited that there will be more!
Classic mowing music.
Those are great looking steers. I hope everything works out for you both.
Love all your videos, especially hay season. I love the haybine!
Looks like the chain guard needs to be fixed so it's not so floppy.
Great video mate as I said before hope it all works out for you know that you are not working anymore and thanks again good luck always to you and your family.
Now that you are self employed … I think we need to see Evan with a beard!!!!
I would be worried about your smaller heifer being able to actually deliver a calf. That happened once on our farm when I was growing up. Good job on this hay video. Enjoy your new job.
With all the rain this year, my fields are doubling what we did last year when it was so dry! Your fields are looking good!
Great job

How long before the steers have names🤣😂🤣

I do understand raising animals but never like to see them go. Or hear about it. Like the other videos❤❤❤❤
Put the steers in with the dairy cows and they will ride them if there in heat to be bred
Let that beard grow! No more workaworld to show up for!
