      A quick check on Autotrader shows plenty of 2017 Fiat 500e with less than 20K miles available under $8K.

    i just financed a 2017 fiat 500e , that was previously a cali leased car. it only has 18k miles and it is in immaculate shape. I live in NYC, the bronx. But I love this little car, its very very fun and stylish. Thats crzy cause im a guy whos owned sports cars, such as rx8, bmw z4, celica 94.
    I do wish, Chrysler, fiat would hire some good developers and creat a proper app for the fiat.
    I wish the UConnect infotainment system was a bit more modern, like the newer ones they use in many jeeps n dodges. Overall tho, its a great little electric car. After this, I might just save up and jump into a tesla in the future, say 4-5 years from now.

    Love my 2015 500e, best commuter I've ever purchased! With proper racing tires, you'll be zapping everyone else from Red light! PS, it has surprisingly more space than it looked! fits two forward facing child seats at the back, still have room for two adults and two small-medium size dogs! It won't fit a full size stroller; however, any folding compact stroller can fit in the trunk with ease~

      If you remove the four bolts that hold the trunk organizer, remove that, you have more trunk space

    The 500e is zippy and it's one of the slower EVs out there! The Chevy Bolt goes 0-60 in less than 7 seconds, which may not seem fast but that's faster than about 90% of the cars on the road. The biggest appeal to me is the increase in reliability and much lower cost of ownership. Being able to "refuel" at home at night is also a huge plus. Used EVs, such as the Fiat 500e is a great way to get into electric without spending a lot of money. Used 500es with really low miles, one owner and in great condition can easily be found for less than $10000, with most being less than $9000. Other EVs range between about $12000 and $20000, not including Teslas! Have a look at Carvana, Cargurus, MyEV or other used vehicle sites and see! Drive one for yourself and you'll immediately fall in love.

    This reminds me of the RC cars, some are gas, electric and Nitro. I myself prefer the electric motors, they are just so much more reliable,they don't get greasy and if you get the right setup much more faster than than Nitro or gas.. One day it will be strange to see NASCAR running electric.. lol

    i knew a girl who bought a brand new 2018 model last fall. she only drove it either 500 or 1500 miles before it started having issues. she had it in the local dealer several times. replaced 3 batteries (this was the gasoline version) the ignition switch replaced, some kind of wiring harness replaced, the alternator twice, fuses, the computer, key fobs and some other things. last i heard she was having something with the timing replaced. when shed go out to start it and if it wouldnt start on the first try shed had to wait 15mins before sh could start it. for some reason the dealership would not buy or trade the car only try to fix it. also for some reason it was out of warranty as well so she had to buy the parts. on a side not im with the younger generation and i dont think the combustion engine is going anywhere any time soon. look at the early electric and steam cars. they failed.then what in the 70's through the 90''s they tried to bring them back but was way to expensive and there like kits out there but theyre super expensive and the range isnt lung enough yet for ppl to fully switch over to electric.

      >lists a massive number of problems an acquaintance had with a GAS fiat
      >"i don't think the combustion engine is going anywhere anytime soon"
      ??? the Fiat 500e has far higher reliability ratings than any gas fiat. It has 1/30th as many moving parts as the gas equivalent. It's a simpler, better built, more reliable car and the battery packs have been demonstrated to degrade less than 10% over 150,000 miles (the average mileage a car is scrapped in the US).
      According to Nature (the world's most respected scientific journal), “A fully-charged battery in an existing, affordable EV is enough to get 87 percent of American drivers where they need to go throughout the day”
      .

    I hope you inspected the suspension of the car as well. I imported to Colorado after its CA lease was up, and love the heck out of it. It's worth mentioning that the inspection showed some serious wear on the front suspension, though. They were replaced under warranty prior to delivery, and I'm making a point to keep an eye on them just in case. (Though I suspect the issue was probably due to the quality of some CA roads haha.) It's a fantastic car.

    • @marderend
      @marderend 6 років тому +1

      Terry Cabeen could you please tell me how I should look for it while driving . I didn’t do due diligence and bought one without an inspection from a private party . Now I am thinking I might have issues . Mine is out of warranty

    • @terrycabeen
      @terrycabeen 6 років тому

      @@marderend When the front suspension is going (or gone), you'll often hear a rattle from the front when you go over rough pavement. I hear it as kind of a clattering sound. The good news is that you can replace it at home without any single-use tools (like a spring compressor) because they're one-piece units. Honestly, I can hear MINE rattling already, so I'm wondering if there's an issue with the manufacturing of these parts, or if it's in the structural components that hold the struts. Once I get through a couple other projects, I plan to watch more videos and dig into it. Best of luck with yours!

    I have a Mitsubishi PHEV but I live in England where gas costs 6 to 7 dollars per gallon thanks to high tax and electricity is taxed at 5% so works out at about 1/4 of the price per mile.
    I also do lots of short runs to ferry children about and go shopping. I work from home. Between the tax incentives and the lower fuel costs I save $1500 per year.
    You would need be an idiot or tree hugger to buy an electric car in the USA. Gas is so cheap there, who cares if you get 30mpg?

    • @joedockstader1347
      @joedockstader1347 5 років тому

      I'm moving from a volvo that got 22mpg (26 miles per british gallon) to a 500e. I was spending over $300 per month on gas for my commute, and I'll now be spending less than $40 per month to charge, plus saving at least $1500 per year on maintenance. If the range on a used 500e, i3, spark, leaf or similar class EV is enough for your commute, there is no gas or even hybrid car on the market that can compete from an economic standpoint.

    Please stop saying this cars are green and zero emissions.
    To make a car and to produce a car it requires electric. To transport the car is needs diesel power. Nothing in this world is zero emissions.
    How do you recycle the batteries. To produce the batteries have you questioned where do the precious metal come from? Plastics are made of oil based products.
    All that money and no GPS?
    Range are limited. Charging times can be hellishly long. Maybe the future, but for now I will keep to the faithful combustion engine.
    The car is hardly a sales successes.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_500_(2007)#500e
    This is interesting for us in Europe as we cannot purchase this car.

      The GPS is the box mounted on the dashboard that is clearly displayed in the video, and clearly shows a map in the video. It's a Tomtom system. There were complaints about it obstructing view, and they moved it to the center dash starting in, I think, 2017.

      why are you comparing new to used pricing? a 3-year-old low mileage 500e can be had for under $7000. They're an amazing value because people are terrified of used EVs because of the first gen Leaf. The 500e has an excellent reliability record, better than any gas car Fiat-Chrysler makes and it sits well below the industry average for annual maintenance and repair costs. The batteries on the 500e have been demonstrated to last 150-200k miles too.
      If you've got 80k to throw out the window, buy the average gas car. On average you'll spend that every 10 years between payments, maintenance, and gas. Buying a decent used EV cuts that to less than 20k.
