Ha! Thanks Markus!
ATF +4 is now $12.00 a QUART! FYI! I really like my Jeep WJ.
Crazy stuff! I did too!
Thank yiu very much indeed 😊
You're welcome!
I watched this video until about the 2:46 mark. Then said to myself... he didn't use the correct Mopar specific trans fluid, I bet it didn't last very long.. At this point I started to read the comments... and sure enough some people saw your video .. did this work them selves and messed up their transmissions. Going to Pep boys for the cheapest washer fluid or wipers or head light bulbs, heck even Amazon basics engine oil is good stuff.. but when it comes to modern Auto transmissions you can not just pick up any old fluid. These things are super complicated and work to very exacting pressures. You should edit your description to inform everyone as to the results.
What were the results?
@@OurSimpleAdventures Well, in you own reply to another commenters question you said it didn't last.... "It didn't. Here is the video of us replacing it. It lasted about 2 weeks. ua-cam.com/video/hPLT9JhFNEA/v-deo.html Thanks for the question!" Sooooo... you should edit the description on of this video to indicate the issues you had not just a link to another one of your video's... This pleading for likes etc while not addressing the blatant incorrect information you shared in the video is what will keep your channel from growing. I'm shocked actually this video doesn't have more dislikes. The info you share is incorrect and if people follow your example as you state in this video without the extra info updated in the description I would suggest that you are causing harm to others with false info.
@@LazyBoyZR1 You're wrong but thanks for the comments!
@@OurSimpleAdventures I said many different things in my reply. Simply replying back with "Your're Wrong" doesn't hold water. If you want to claim you are correct and without error. I challenge you to respond to my comments in full. Otherwise, your sir, will never be trusted. This video may even get flagged as promoting false information.
Hey brother, great vid, got a question. How do I just add transm fluid if its low? I don't see a place to add, I have a 2006 jeep gc. Txs if you could help
You can poor it right down the tube for the transmission dip stick. Kind of a slow process but it worked. Thanks for the question!
thanx for the video men & someone told me them trans have another filt3 beside the one you show on this video. apparently is some kind of spin on filter. I've been researching about it. can you or anyone help with some info ?
You're welcome Juan. I don't know of another filter for the transmission unless it is some kind of an aftermarket add on? Let us know what you find out. Thanks for the comments!
Excellent video. How’s it running since ?
If you look several videos later I swapped out the transmission. It was too far gone. Look at that video.
Love your videos starting with the thermostat replacement on the laredo jeep now its making a horrible sound unable to describe but noticed the transmission pan has a greasy fill and don't know when it was changed or if it ever has been changed and it has OVER 301,000 miles. but anyway how to tell if I'm low on ATF? Can't find a dipstick/tube for the transmission fluid
Yeah I don't know why there is no transmission dipstick. BS to me and maybe that's why their transmissions are crap too. Sorry don't have an answer for you!
Thanks for watching btw!
Great info,, what type/brand transmission fluid did you use ? My 06 jeep grand Cherokee 4.3L is due for a change...
Good to hear! Wow I don't remember. I did that video a few years ago.
Ty
You're welcome!
How many quaters does the ti2tj transmission have in jeep grand cherokee 2006 v6 3.7 thank you very much!!!
Sorry I don't remember. Can anyone else tell him?
Very good this video. Only 4 quarts? because i had read this transmission want 6 - 7 quarts and i haven't dipstick.
Yeah I can't believe they don't put dipsticks in them anymore! I guess I would rather have it a little high than a little low. Thanks for the comments! Please Subscribe & hit that notification bell! Thanks again!
Where do you pour the oil or even check the oil if i dont see a dipstick for it.
The only dipstick i see is the engine oil with yello ring and right above another tube that says DEALER ONLY is tha the one? Do i need special tool to check or add the trans fluid at the end? I appreciate your help. I have a 2008 jeep 3.7
Yes that other tube is for the Transmission. That is where you add the fluid and you can find test dip sticks online. Thanks for the question. Give us a follow and Subscribe as there will be more!
Got the same situation, were you able to successfully change the liquid following this guide?
What's that metal chipping from? How is it bad and can that little piece be replaced?
Hi Anthony! All that metal came from within the Transmission, gears, etc.. then stuck to that round magnet. The Transmission worked for about 2 weeks after this then failed. I am looking for another good used one right now. Give us a follow and Subscribe as I will try to film the installation of that one. Thanks for the comment!
Can you help me out? I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee has the 3.7 engine it's a all time 4+4. I'm wanting to change the transmission filter and fluid. It is a 6 bolt pan. But mine doesn't have a dipstick so how do you how much oil to put in and where do you put in the new fluid?
The best way to do it is to measure what you take out and put that much back in.
The Manual will give it's capacity. Just make sure it's completely drained.
Hi, i am doind this on a jeep commamder, i think they got same tramsmition, but question is, did you put silicone on gasket?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the question Julio! I did not use silicone on the gasket. Give us a follow and Subscribe as there will be more!
@@OurSimpleAdventures are you supposed to or is that something you don't think it needs. Not trash talking you just need to know whether it needs a gasket or not.

This would be a great video if we could see what you're doing. Pre-Op...Lights? Yet very nice, informative video. Thank you

@@adorablyadorable5665 Thanks again!
Hello, what dose for the liquid transmission ? Because there is no jauge.
No there is not. Check your owners manual for the correct amount.
how can you tell what transmission model you have in the jeep?
If I remember right it is stamped into the transmission and also I think it will tell you in the VIN.
Subbed!! How did the Jeep hold up after the work was done? I'm thinking about doing the same job soon. Also how did you check the transmission fluid levels as mine doesn't have a dip stick.
Thanks Craig! No it lasted about 2-3 weeks. I did link the video of my Son Zach and I replacing the Transmission. As you could see there was just too much metal in the pan. It was too far gone. Hopefully yours is in better shape. Mine doesn't have a dipstick either. I went and bought one at NAPA that said specifically it was for my Grand Cherokee but it was about 6 inches too long. I just put in the recommended amount when I filled it back up. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Thanks for Subscribing as there will be more!
Mine don’t have a dip stick how do you check the levels
Hi Fabo, I don't. I just put in the recommended amount and watch for leaks. I should get one I guess. Thanks for the question. Give us a follow and Subscribe as there will be more!
how do you check oil level? I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee...
Good question ONPM. I bought the supposed correct dipstick from NAPA and it is about 6 inches too long. All I did was put the recommended amount back in. Please let me know if you find the right dipstick as I have looked. Thanks for the question! Give us a follow and Subscribe as there will be more! Thanks again!
This is what you're supposed to use.

What is the torque specs for the transmission pan?
Sorry I don’t remember.
Any update on the transmission? What are those metal chunks from? Also, how much do you tighten those bolts when you put the pan back on?
Hi Erika, It lasted a couple weeks. I did a video on replacing it. Thanks for the question! Please Subscribe & Hit that Notification Bell as there will be more!
@@OurSimpleAdventures what exactly lasted couple of weeks?
@@lstruggy The Transmission. If you look I have a video replacing that transmission.
@@OurSimpleAdventures oh yeah I just watched it that was a handful! 👌🏽 how’s the jgc running atm?
@@lstruggy I sold it to a friend and it is still shifting and doing well!
What size is the start tool
Not sure what you mean by start tool Fabo?
I know you may not read this, great video mate. The only thing i would like to check with you is refilling the transmission. As there is no dipstick, how do you get the correct fluid level.
Hi Reef! I try to read every comment. Lol I just looked in the Manual to find the capacity and put that amount in. No issues to date. Thanks for the comment. Please Subscribe & Hit that Notification Bell as there will be more!
U can buy a unicef dipstick autozone i checked mine before doing it it was at 55 60
Nice clean video...hope the tranny lasts for you...Nice to receive a Blessing...God be with you too...always. Paul
Thanks Paul! Unfortunately the transmission was too far gone and failed completely just a couple weeks later. I filimed replacing it, so check that video out. Again God Bless!
cool
Thanks!
Thanks for the video I did the fluid change. Unfortunately I think I killed my transmission.
SHOX, why do you say that? Please Subscribe and hit that notification bell. Thanks!
@@OurSimpleAdventures Well I let the car run for about 10 mins then took it out for a drive and did well for the first 5 mins of driving, then the check engine light turned on and felt a little more slipping then what I had felt the first time. I thought maybe since I had no chuncks of metal on the magnet was a good sign
@@shox9492 That's too bad. Are you sure you put in enough fluid?
@@OurSimpleAdventuresI am missing a quart of oil because 3 quarts was all auto zone had, but I was hoping the 24oz of slip stop would help out so it won’t be half empty
@@shox9492 Gotcha yeah that should have helped. Well I have the video showing how to replace the transmission.
You know how many gallons it take to fill up the transmission
This Transmission holds 5.5 quarts Roberts Randy. If your just dropping the pan and changing the filter there will still be fluid in the torque converter so it won't take that many. Thanks for the question! Give us a follow and Subscribe because I just swapped the transmission out and am editing that video now.
Thanks I had dropped the whole trans and put new oil in the torque converter. Just wonder how much more fuild I needed
How the transmission holding up ?
It didn't. Here is the video of us replacing it. It lasted about 2 weeks. ua-cam.com/video/hPLT9JhFNEA/v-deo.html Thanks for the question!
Any issue since the change first time seeing this.
Yeah transmission was bad and swapped it out.
Went to O'Reilly's and the told me I needed 14l of transmission fluid for a change on this same exact vehicle wtf..
Wow Ok! Lol
180K and this is the first time you have changed the trans fluid? WTF I know Mercedes said this was a sealed box but they have retracted that statement and now recommend fluid change every 45K. I had the dealer change mine around 46K and soon I will do a fluid flush, not just a fluid change. BTW, for those interested all these transmissions 5A variety were all pretty much the same, mine is the W400 variety, made in Germany, all that means is that my torque converter is rated for 400 ft lbs not 580 as is yours. I am also missing a couple of sets of clutch and friction discs, other than that, these trannys are virtually identical. I will also be changing my conductor plate on the valve body, I might also swap my 4-5 solenoid with my 1-2 solenoid to get extended life. And always change the plug adapter when you disconnect the cable, required to remove the valve body.
Maybe I didn't make myself clear. This is the 2nd Transmission with probably 30k on it. It is the Jeep that had 180k. These transmissions are junk. Thanks for the comments. Give us a follow and Subscribe as there will be more!
@@OurSimpleAdventures guess you didn't, I would have changed the fluid in a used transmission, but that's just me. My 5A400 has 95k and is working perfectly! Maybe you should be a little easier on your transmissions if you want them to last!
Lol I don't believe your hands or your Jeep have ever been dirty. Thanks again for the comments!
@@OurSimpleAdventures unlike you, I'm a licensed, professional mechanic, I get plenty dirty. My Jeep tows, started out life as RWD but have decided to convert to 4WD, so it will get a bit dirtier.
Licensed? Ok. Anyway thanks for the comments again. Love to see your video on the 2wd to 4wd operation. Thanks again!
