  • Built a fresh Cult Hawk frame and got in a quick park session. Broke my chain and battled the wind, but neither put a damper on that new frame feeling.

    I love your videos Dan, they're so chilled but still have heaps of rad, smooth, everyday riding. I like watching that sort of stuff more than banger after banger after banger most of the time. thanks for making the vids mate.

    You deserve more likes and subs for sure! Your videos are always so clean and well put together. Always been a fan of your style and riding. I follow you on everything and literally lost my mind when Cult dropped your welcome video haha. My friend Joel Pierazek told me he met you and had nothing but good things to say about how solid of a person you are and how you absolutely kill The Unit in person. Just wanted to share how stoked I am on all of your hard work. Keep making BMX interesting and relevant!

    Oh man, I got absolutely brutalised the last time I did that nose 180 number. Guess hangin up at the top of that trick is a real bad idea.. especially @ 5 dock!

    Hey dan, could you make a video tutorial on how to hit the spine at the skatepark. Ive always been to hesitant, especially the one in Vancouver.

    • @danfoleybmx
      @danfoleybmx  7 років тому +7

      Vancouver has some gnarly ones! You got it though. Hit it at an angle so the entire length of your bike doesn't have to go straight over it. Then as soon as your front wheel goes over the top, push it right back down into the other side. Practice flying out of a quarter that's the same height, pretending you're hitting the spine. Don't hesitate, it's not too bad once you do it.

    I use a bent 14mm axle with flattened end to remove the BB, and to put it back the same as *'lauserlu'* says (below) jejejeje super useful, quick and trusty. If you only got a hammer, please use a piece of wood to put it on or take it out... [don't forget the bearing spacer]
    By the way, sick bike!!! love the color of that frame! (the "greenish sea foam hammered" one too)

    Rubber mallet works the best for bottom brackets man I highly suggest you cop one will make your life alot easier plus wont do any dents to the frame

  • @waldojpg
    @waldojpg 7 років тому +1

    best tip to put your BB in a new frame: if you have an old axle from a hub lying around, use some BB washers and the 17mm bolts on the axle by tightening them up slowly from both sides to make them slide in the bb shell, you wont harm the BB this way.

    • @danfoleybmx
      @danfoleybmx  7 років тому

    • @danfoleybmx
      @danfoleybmx  7 років тому

      Practice for sure. It took a few tries to get that one too. Just try to find stuff that's a little scary to hop up and make yourself do it. It'll make you more comfortable with stuff and then the manuals will come naturally.

  • @enriquemariano5715
    @enriquemariano5715 6 років тому

    Hey DF, you should not hammer the BB bearings directly. Best to use a pure of wood or rubber if none cardboard on top of the bering. Then u van hammer it. That will be a SAFE practice and avoid damaging the bearings and have a balance insertion in the BB tube.

    He's like the Peter Mckinnon of BMX! Also for all those (including myself) that don't have a rubber mallet on hand to install BB bearings with I just use a regular hammer and a 2 by 4 because the wood is soft it won't damage your bearings...

    I haven't had a new frame since my fiend Morrow v.2 got stolen. I've been riding a 2013 BSD Forever frame.(back when only they had the Trail-Or-Park, WZA & Forever frames) it's still holding up I just miss that feeling of getting a new bike.
    Getting your bike stolen is the worst feeling in the entire world, especially when you're not done paying it all off and your last OG $cerbo bars were on my Fiend as well... ugh. So I'm back on the BSD with GT Four Piece that I love, I just have to get a new frame and the new front wheel and I'll be set!

    Dude i know what you mean about the bottom bracket thing, however sometimes you get a frame that just destroys bb's, my buddy had a frame that no matter what bb we tried it did not want to go in, finally got it in and it was crunchy. when he went to take it out he broke the bearing he hit it so hard.
